I'm from northern England & bought a CD of Zydeco music when I travelled to New Orleans. This genre of music blew me away & Beu Joques is the king of this beautiful sound
That's right. The floor would bounce up and down, and the building would move in and out when Beau Jocque played the Rock N' Bowl. The music and dancing would get so intense, I used to get goose bumps and shivers up and down my spine. Beau Jocque could put you in a zydeco trance. If there was any band I could see tonight, it would be Beau Jocque and the Hi Rollers!! I'm not lyin'.
@@heatherbryant3490 He's definitely the King of ska-dyco - Brilliant version of Shocks of Mighty - his ability to blend was unmatched ua-cam.com/video/LvwOUsggNqE/v-deo.html
We lived in New Orleans 1994-98 and got to see him several times. We loved going to the original Rock ‘n Bowl when he played there. And, Swamp Fest at the outdoor stage at Audubon Zoo was great, too. It was impossible not to hit the dance floor when he played.
I actually was able to see Beau Jocque & the Hi-Rollers live. He came to Dallas & played at The Lone Star Ballroom. The promoter must have sucked. It was a Saturday night & only ten people showed up (including me & my girlfriend). The band kind of laughed it off & played an incredible set, anyway. All ten of us were on the dance floor. . After the show the party moved backstage. . . to which we were included. We got tore up, indeed! Damn, I miss him!
Zydeco is always happy sounding...and I love the energy. Heard it for the first time in Baton Rouge in 1989 and have enjoyed it ever since. Great tune here.
Even someone in deep depression must feel their spirit lifted listening to this extraordinary, inebriating light-hearted song - such a transfer of life energy!
So powerful...This Yankee immediately starts pounding out a complicated Beau Jocque rhythm on his thighs when he hears this song....the angels have great music now!
I was there a number of times for Beau vs. Boozoo. I never missed Beau at the Rock N' Bowl during Jazzfest. It was always the highlight of Jazzfest for me!! I'll never forget those nights, etched in my mind forever.
if there's reincarnation, then i wanna come back as a member of a zydeco band how can you not be happy & dance when you listen to this great music? THANK YOU Louisiana! And your food is A-1, too
So miss him. But his music will live on. Never be forgotten. His band got keep push. Find someone too keep push . B.J. he would want that . For them keep rocking. Someone high Enger. GET BAND BACK IN TOO IT.
Saw him in 1999 Britt Festival, Jacksonville, Oregon. Unfortunately the local idiots complained about the loudness so he had to play at a muted volume. I had to stand right up next to the stage just to get the full Beau Jocque experience. He was the best.
Just saw a Louisiana and Katrina doc on PBS. It talked about how the 1% destroyed the marshes and the economy and music cultures of the Big Easy. Then It talks about the 6'6 and 275lbs Beau and how he was a U.S. Marine, with a God given talent for creole, blues and zydeco music. Very sad indeed to see him gone by 45.
I'm the guitarist for a Zydeco band that plays alot of Beau Jocque around the Dallas TX area. The name of the band is Jay-B & The Zydeco Posse. Ya'll check us out when you get a chance! You right!
@rlpastor There is a dvd called "The Kingdom of Zydeco" by Robert Mugge. It is being delayed by Acorn Media. Email them and tell them you want it!! I sure as hell do.
I need a little help. I used to watch a real short clip of Beau Jocque playing at I think it was Giltons or something like that. It starts off with a train going by then you go into the club. I can't find this clip if you know let us know. Thanks
Azdak they did a show in SF w/the same lineup.Steve Riley sounded ok, nice crowd, Beau was in the middle, and packed it so tight people literally couldn't dance. But did anyway..When Marcia came on, half of us left..No dis on her, but most of us said to the astounded management that we already came for the headliner..They couldn't believe that we wouldn't stay for Marcia..was quite a moment..Just one of many..Beau was the best as far as I'm concerned..NO dis on anyone..Andre is my fave now.
This was my cuz Anders espr my real name is beaujocque I am working on my music I have beaujocque and the zydeco and the creative sounds tip that in and my videos will come up and on my Facebook

Beau Jocque mastered the craft - nobody still can't touch his style in Zydeco
Tell it - he passed Boozoo Chavis!
@@hellbillybilly4770 his style comes from Boozoo I have heard but I believe Beau channeled it after he got passed the start of career
