- Sergei Bortkiewicz (1877 - 1952) was a Russian composer and pianist. His piano style was very much based on Liszt and Chopin, nurtured by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, early Scriabin, Wagner and Ukrainian folklore.
Special thanks to Rach3master for introducing me to this rare gem ( • Sergei Bortkiewicz - P... ). This melancholic prelude has an uncanny resemblance to Chopin’s Nocturne in E minor, which is one of my favourite nocturnes. I especially loved playing this piece with copious amount of rubato creating that 'ebb and flow' rhythm.

Beautiful
This is truly a gem...your playing is inspiring! I've watched a lot of your videos and all are excellent. The rubato, the dynamics, delicate touch and progressive crescendos are fantastic; they bring life to whatever you play! Subscribed!

Just wonderful interpretation of music I didn’t know of. Thanks for introducing me. Lovely sound settings from the Ravenscroft too. I have that library, but haven”t tried so much yet. Thanks for this moment!
Kind greetings from Sweden,

Magnificent interpretation! I like the way you changed the notes at some points, thereby giving this piece a more Chopin-like sound.
Why not deviate from the score? It's so beautiful. I'm impressed, and I'm sure Sergei is too! Haha, brava!

A gorgeous piece and beautifully played.
Lovely performance and video!
Nice interpretation! I was amused by some of the liberties you took with the melody :)
Thank you for introducing me to this piece. I enjoyed taking those liberties very much :)
The liberties you took actually ruined the piece.

Qué maravilla. Tiene algo de Chopin y de repente hasta algo de Rachmaninov pero creo que después de todo es Bortkiewicz.
