The rendering was bad, not as detailed, and the lighting was way dimmer on the xbox. The Hololense demo was by far the best thing of the whole xbox deal, and it's not even an xbox peripheral. Hololens 3 is coming eventually, there was even a recent patent filed by Microsoft that showed a Hololens model that was sort of a mix between the Apple vision pro and Google glass. It uses a sleek frame like Google glass, and a built in front display that can be snapped into the frames and popped off. Basically these are way more transportable and easier to wear in public without looking like an alien. The most interesting thing to me was that the patent mentioned there would be upgrades/modules you can buy and snap into the back of the headband/frame. Two that were listed were a module that added more processing power and one that added more battery capacity. Hopefully they come out soon but most likely will still be a few years away who knows. I definitely am looking forward to them though even though it'll most likely be very expensive

It's really cool, but it seemed too good to be true… The virtual world built on the table was just…too stable, I've never seen any AR apps or devices that could produce such stable image, they always trembled a bit all the time. Of course I hope this is true.

Ree1981 To get similar results as what you see in the video you'd probably have to darken the ambient lighting, and even then it won't be quite as crisp as we see it here. There are some hands-on reports that do say that they did well with the "rendering to black" issue though and that the opacity is controllable. We also do know that the FoV of the HoloLens is not huge (definitely doesn't cover all of your vision) and that the video may exaggerate it. The tracking and display it uses, however, likely work well enough. I'm also worried at how well the gesture recognition and hand controls actually work.
Kind of. It's extremely difficult and expensive to manufacture. I think originally they thought they could drive the price down but it's been 5 years and it's only gotten more expensive. They sell it to surgeons and factory workers mostly. It really is something special if you get a chance to try it, there's nothing else like it. There's no question that it's the future which is why MS keeps developing the product but someone needs to figure out how to manufacture the lenses better and make it cheaper.

Hololens 3 is coming eventually, there was even a recent patent filed by Microsoft that showed a Hololens model that was sort of a mix between the Apple vision pro and Google glass. It uses a sleek frame like Google glass, and a built in front display that can be snapped into the frames and popped off.
Basically these are way more transportable and easier to wear in public without looking like an alien. The most interesting thing to me was that the patent mentioned there would be upgrades/modules you can buy and snap into the back of the headband/frame. Two that were listed were a module that added more processing power and one that added more battery capacity.
Hopefully they come out soon but most likely will still be a few years away who knows. I definitely am looking forward to them though even though it'll most likely be very expensive

I feel that Microsoft had more tech to reveal, backwards compatibility and hololens, while PS4 has more games/exclusives.
Definetly not more exclusives, 2/3 of the ganes they showed were either timed exclusive, exclusive missions, or multiplatform with ps4 beta

I don't even play Minecraft. I tried to give it a chance a few times, but I never really got into it. But even if I don't play Minecraft, this is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Iwould buy Minecraft in a second if this was the only game Hololens can be paid with. That's how amazing this was. CHILLS!

It looks cool but I'm sure it will have a lot of issues. Possibly could be dangerous to your health too depending on what it does. Sony probably will wait on boasting about this technology until they experiment with it a lot more.

It's really cool, but it seemed too good to be true…
The virtual world built on the table was just…too stable, I've never seen any AR apps or devices that could produce such stable image, they always trembled a bit all the time.
Of course I hope this is true.

Edit: Ok so it's essentially a kinect strapped to the front, that works.
Nathaniel Wu The camera that filmedit had waaay exaggerated FOV too. And they had magically solved the no.1 AR problem: blocking out reality and "rendering black".
What we saw was nothing more than smoke and mirrors.

Ree1981 To get similar results as what you see in the video you'd probably have to darken the ambient lighting, and even then it won't be quite as crisp as we see it here. There are some hands-on reports that do say that they did well with the "rendering to black" issue though and that the opacity is controllable. We also do know that the FoV of the HoloLens is not huge (definitely doesn't cover all of your vision) and that the video may exaggerate it. The tracking and display it uses, however, likely work well enough. I'm also worried at how well the gesture recognition and hand controls actually work.

Kind of. It's extremely difficult and expensive to manufacture. I think originally they thought they could drive the price down but it's been 5 years and it's only gotten more expensive. They sell it to surgeons and factory workers mostly. It really is something special if you get a chance to try it, there's nothing else like it. There's no question that it's the future which is why MS keeps developing the product but someone needs to figure out how to manufacture the lenses better and make it cheaper.
