At first I defended the new animation style but after seeing the AK and MP7 reloads I just can't anymore.

It was not easy. Recording each weapon required spending 10-15 minutes of play to get a short moment for recording 👍
It is a bit weird that some weapons from Payday 2 have different names in Payday 3. You'd think there would at least be in universe continuity.
OVK is pretty inconsistent when it comes to naming their guns and you can see this alot in PD2. Some used their real names while most others aren't, the glocks used to be (and still is) called Chimanos until the full-auto variant comes in and they switched to Stryk.
They very early on contradicted themselves within Payday 2 itself, when Clover was released. They called the gun the Queen's Wrath in-game, but gave in the promotion material they called it L-95 - far closer to the real weapons name but still fake.
Some people, including myself, since presume that the names we get in-game are generally codenames for the guns and not the real ones. So the change in PD3 could simply Gage - after 5 years of not doing the job - changing the codenames.

@@short4071the double barrel could be just an extractor design vs an ejector design. therefore the reload shown in pd3 works for single loads.
How do the animations in Payday 2 look signifigantly better? Just a cherry on top of all the other issues PD3 has I guess.

I hope they'll add a rocket launcher and flamethrower as overkill weapons eventually. Also, more secondary weapon variety. I want my loco back!
I anticipate that they'll keep primaries and secondaries more distinct and will only have pistols, machine pistols and the odd ultra-compact SMG as secondary, while everything else stays primary or even overkill weapon.
As it did result in quite a lack of distinction between primary and secondary in PD2 where SMGs and Assault Rifles were nearly identicial in function, just differing in the slot (with many SMGs just being actually rifles in real life, too.)

@@gimok2k5Practically every weapon class by the end of payday 2’s lifespan had at least ONE secondary variant. SMGs and assault rifles take up the *same* slot in Payday 3 and they feel more similar than ever now. I think I can say for everyone that we’d be pissed if they went the “secondary slot for pistols/revolvers ONLY 🤓” route like most modern games after the awesome selection we got in payday 2.
i do miss the loco too and it sort of makes sense to have a shorter shotgun as a secondary or as a backup weapon for more heavily armoured hostiles and i do wish atleast the compact 7 were a secondary so we would have atleast one automatic secondary
MP7 has an HK slap reload animation
that reload for the sg compact7 is weird as all hell
They don’t even bother to animate a moving cylinder and hammer for those revolvers
kinda sad how few weapons are in PD3 compared to PD2
Base Payday 2 only have slightly more weapons, it's around 30 weapons-ish not counting melee and akimbo weps
Especially no lmgs
With updates and dlc in the future my friend the armory will not lack guns soon enough

@@OriGami-tn6yfHonestly, I prefer straight to the point paid DLCs over predatory battle passes that expire after a certain time and store bundles that just so happen to cost 1200 credits even though the highest credits bundle you can purchase is 1000, stuff that pushes the Fear Of Missing Out mentality. At least with PayDay, everybody will be able to enjoy the same paid DLCs for the same price instead of missing out on an exclusive offer only given during a certain time.

This feels like BOCW all over again, some awesome animations, other mediocre, and a few WTFs.
Animation feels so inconsistent with quality
Ever since their main animator (Niphen Niphen) left back in 2018, the new weapons in PD2 either have reused animations or bad/mediocre original ones. Not surprised that the quality is mixed here as well. It's a shame since PD2 has smooth, tacticool animations for most of its lifespan, and PD3 is inconsistent in its style out of the gate.
The difference is, in BOCW every animation was awful

I like the detail of the frag nades fragmentation impacting the environment
I love that the optics cover plate on the Glock just doesn't move from its point in space, and clips into the slide during empty reloads
Also the M14 is animated as if it has a bolt catch despite not having one on its model
Good eyes for the glock, however for the m14, it has in fact a bolt catch but it can't be used as a bolt release like an AR like you see here.

@@bunslinger Minigun is 100% going to be an Overkill weapon, however I hope LMGs arent. I hope they can balance them in a way so that they aren't just straight upgrades of the assault rifles and smgs. I wanna be able to use them as normal weapons.

I just realized Stryk is the name of the Glock 18C in payday 2 but the name for the Glock 17,22C,and 26 are Chimano. So is it chimano or stryk?

Looking at this video i can say there are 3 or 4 different animators that worked on the weapons.
One that was inspired by black ops cold war, the other by gmods weapon mods with their absurdity amount, the 3rd and seemingly only good one enjoyed a bit more calm approach and it works for him.
The 4th may be the 3rd but it seemed like a bit insurgency sandstorm like hand movement.

Some of these animations are piss poor. Of course big details are generally missing or incorrect (HK slap on nothing on the MP7, bolt release on the M14 built into the animation but missing on the model), but that AK reload specifically is pretty rough. It's just jerky as if it's missing frames. Really odd.

pd2 had 45 weapons at launch (without counting akimbos) but most were re skins or just terrible. With pd3 the balance is way better

If developers take the critism into considiration;
Tracer bullet speeds look same on every gun and look so slow (like max payne game) A rifle bullet 2-3x faster than a pistol round. In fact, tracers are not used much in real life. I would disable them.
Shooting sounds are generally low and some of them are not appropriate for their caliber. Reload sounds are 2 times louder than shooting sounds. Turn down one of them or enhance the other one if it is available.
Gun models are lovely (Especially sw29)
Lovely Desert Eagle should be in the game.
M1911 magazine looks double coloumned bu it takes only 10 rounds in the game, it should be at least 14 rounds.
AK and MP7 reload animations should be remade. Sig P226 aim down sight recoil animation should be remade.
Magazine throwing distances are exaggerated.
There is no pin pulling animation on the grenades. It should exist.
The blue-green screen filter doesn't look beautiful. I wouldn't put any screen filter. Your graphics are already looks developed.
