  • This was a follow on to a question from George about finding the template in various story or religious locations. The concepts we look for are big.

    Healing sequence for monomyth
These myths may all start at a pure state. Jewish versions tend to as they were stand alone, verbally passed along and memorized stories. Starting at a pure state and going bad was important to their religious genre of myth.
    1. Initial isolation. Not many are destined for this. Moses in basket, Jesus to Egypt, Jason to Chiron, etc.
    2. There may be a hidden declaration of cause and effect. It is in Jewish material.
    3. Establish a destination. Where does this journey go? Rule of your Kingdom, Holy Grail, Heaven, Kingdom of Heaven Within, Nirvana, etc.
    4. There is an element for holding the experience of cyclical pain. Plagues, increasing pain in childbirth, repeated afflictions (Job), Food defiled daily, Rolls boulder nearly to top, only to have in fall and start over again, Liver eaten out, grows back and eaten out again, (Greek myth)
    5. Supernatural element. Moses’ staff. Thor’s Hammar. Jason gets help along the way. Merlin travels with Arthur. Jesus has supernatural powers. Two parts. 1. There is a need to learn what to do and muster yourself and resources in order to self-heal. 2. Supernatural aid. It is actually learning how to navigate the myth and take the adventure for self-healing. We will actually be changing the frequency of emotions from our past. Forgiveness.
    6. Gathering friends as resources. What your inner qualities are. Argonauts, Disciples, Knights of the Round Table, The Rebel alliance.
    7. There is a struggle to leave the past or to get under way. This does not always show up. Sometimes the adventurer goes without question. Argo crew struggles to leave their women behind. Moses struggled trying to get away from Pharaoh and Egypt.
    8. Sometimes you must rid useless, life taking things. Not always an element in the stories. In the Voyage of the Argo, they accidentally kill people they were friendly with and a king that challenged them. Jesus kills a fig tree that did not produce. These represent wasteful or unproductive things in our life. We need to simplify AKA ‘fast as to the world.’
    9. Crossing the first threshold, or actually turning inward to face the memories and the past self.
    10. Defeating the pain cycles and leaving them behind. The Harpies represent the bad memories that return and defile daily. They can be nullified but cannot be killed. Common theme. This is the same concept as Scheol. Jewish hell. The bad that go there are simply rendered null. They are memories that are always there, but cease to act out because they have been healed.
    11. Crossing the severe threshold. This one is hard and dangerous. It isn’t just the mind, but the space we have walls up around. The art of the mind where we hide our fears and judgments. We are not simply facing our memories, but specific painful trapped memories ands perceptions. This is the hard part as the bad stuff is here.
    12. We meet up with our initial inner self in the Argo story. She has been trapped away by our early self and we need to help her escape.
