- With the war happening in Israel and Palestine, many people are concerned about the safety here in Egypt. Come with me as I film the streets and speak to people in Cairo to ask them, do they feel safe in Egypt right now?
Welcome to the channel! My name's Gisselle, I'm a budget traveler and have been to 6 out of the 7 continents, visiting 20+ countries, living for some time in Sydney, Australia as well as in Saigon, Vietnam. I am currently based in Cairo, Egypt and exploring all this beautiful country has to offer while visiting nearby countries as well. I am a lover of language and a culturally curious lady just making my way through life one day at a time. I live to learn, I love to travel and explore, try new things and meet interesting people anywhere and everywhere in the world. Come along with me as I solo travel the globe and discover fascinating new places, try delicious local food, meet lovely people, and share a moment in time on this beautiful planet, our Earth.

I live in Dahab. As an American I've been a bit nervous myself being so close to Israel. But things are as usual here. Super peaceful. Although there aren't any parties really because no one wants to celebrate while people are suffering nearby
As an Egyptian i was thinking about moving there is dahab a good place?

Im an American who just arrived in this beautiful country. I got mixed responses from friends and family about travelling during the conflict going on in the mid east. I decided to come and visit anyway so I wouldn't miss this opportunity to see Egypt. Cairo and its people are beautiful, and there is a strong police presence. Your videos have been so helpful.
Hell yeah, so glad you decided to make the trip! I'm happy to hear they've been helpful, it's definitely a big part of my goal when filming, to show daily life but also provide useful info while doing so. Enjoy this wild and beautiful country! 😎
Yeah i have noticed the police presence too, as an egyptian, many police cars, i think it is because everyone is in high alert after the start of the war..

Please stop calling it beautiful. Ur literally seeing a nice cute sugar coating that our president starved us for. this “beautiful” country doesn’t have water or electricity 24/7 or on a normal day. Don’t compliment a country u have only scratched the surface of. It’s basically gaslighting the people who are struggling to survive and meet ends here. Be better
its in africa not the middle east *correction*
I just came back from Cairo yesterday (Saturday, October, 21st) and witnissed the atmosphere. Cairo was perfectly safe. Coming to Cairo from Serbia it was immediatly very noticable that the city has a strong presence of people in uniforms and agents in suits (wearing suits @31 deg. Celsius). Every tourist sight had scanners like the ones that can be seen at airports and on some places one could see armed guards with machine guns and helmets. However, I got used to that and these people were actually quite helpfull giving me directions to find different places). On Friday morning I visitied the Egyptian museum. Till noon I did not see anything unusual. On Friday evening I spent some time in a small Khnan Khalili cafee drinking cold Karkade and injoying live Arabic music. Although I do not speak Arabic I could figure out that the musicians were sending messages of support to Palestinians. That evening I was in downtown area and it was quite different. The square had anti riot police presence with special vehicles. However, everything was calm. I took some pictures but avoided taking pictures of the police force. BTW, I have taken pictures absolutely everywhere included Al-Azhar mosque packed with people on Thursday night, with no issues whatsoever. If I was not supposed to do that, I appologize.
There is absolutely no reason to be afraid of traveling to Egypt. I'll finish my comment with words that I have heard so many times during the last several days: "Welcome to Egypt!".
I love this comment. Thanks for sharing!
@@Gventures Perhaps, I put empahasis on police presence too much in my comment and that needs further explanation. That is unusual for most of tourists, however, they are present for their safety and any newcomer should not have any fear. As mentioned, they were quite friendly. Keeping in mind size of the city that number of police officers is, actually, not that high. Egypt is a very safe place and one should not be afraid to travel there. It is, also, very affordable with meny places to see in the country with the longest history.
Welcome in Egypt.. it's our pleasure to be happy between us bro ❤
As an Egyptian and living in Egypt now, I thank you for conveying the truth, and as someone who worked on state security during military service, I assure you that everyone is working to make Egypt always safe. 🙂

I am Egyptian and thank you very much for this wonderful atmosphere in your country, Egypt
Egypt welcomes everyone. We do not differentiate between color, nationality, or affiliation. We, as Egyptians, love all guests from all over the world and welcome them. We hope that they enjoyed their time in this country, and it is safe and will always remain safe.
Thank you again for your presence in Egypt and we love to always see you with us
Thank you! My husband and I have a trip to Egypt in less than a month (booked since February) and with all the news it’s been giving me so much anxiety lately. Not only for our safety, but the safety of the local tour guides, shop owners, etc. I love your videos bc they show a true “feet on the ground” perspective. We pray that we can still visit the beautiful country.
Thank you so much! And I'm sure you will be able to go forward with your trip and enjoy all the astounding ancient sites, amazing people, beautiful music and delicious food this incredible country has to offer. I upload every week and if for some terrible reason the atmosphere were to suddenly change, you will certainly hear about it! If not, it will be my usual uploads of Egyptian cuisine, tourists sites, or other informational videos. Love from Egypt! 🥰
I cannot imagine how the safety of tour guides or shop owners could be touched. Only if visitors do not come will really harm them!
Same here. I have been trying not to watch the news because I know of the fear mongering that happens while things are sensationalized. I have a trip planned in a couple of weeks and I have refrained from telling people about it just to avoid their projections of fear. I do have anxiety and have contemplated canceling several times but so far have resisted. I wish you safe travels and pray for peace!
@@Jalil_Lindsey_Lowe The news is the worst. I have avoided watching the news my entire life because it's always been that - fear mongering. And it usually provides me with little useful information. So I don't watch it 😅 Thankfully things are fine here. Time will tell how things will be affected here if things escalate over there
Just canceled my trip. My family and I do a trip every November, my mom and brothers and their wives and kids and we are all saddened by the horrible news with Israel, etc. and we were all booked to go to Egypt and also head to Israel. We just canceled everything a few days ago leaving from L.A. I was looking at the US Embassy Egypt. They were saying something about not flying into Egypt and it’s at a level three travel advisory. I’m just laying low until it’s OK to travel again over there.
As an Egyptian-American living in the US. I intend to travel to Egypt next January with a group of friends who are excited to travel together to learn about Egypt, its beauty, and its cultural and historical diversity. This video came at the right time to reassure my friends and those who want to come to Egypt to visit it. Thank you very much for this wonderful work and my best wishes for you to enjoy living in Egypt despite the many economic difficulties facing the country.
Shukran gidden! I fell in love with this country as soon as I arrived, I'm so happy to be here and welcomed so warmly by the people here. But you are right, these are very difficult times for people here, first it was Covid, then the Russian war, the devaluation of the EGP and inflation, it has made lives increasingly difficult. I really hope things will improve for the sake of everyone.
Happy you're going to be making a trip back to Egypt though, and be able to show your friends all the incredible things this country has to offer!
don't be so excited , especially if you don't have a USA passport

My wife and I just got back from a 15 day trip to Egypt 🇪🇬 and Jordan 🇯🇴 and we’re from Canada 🇨🇦. We felt safe and no issues from the current war.
Jordan 🇯🇴 actually felt way safer even though it’s closer to the war.
Only unsafe thing we felt were the vendors and even at times our tour guide/Egyptologist trying to scam us.
I am a tour guide in Egypt, and this is definitely an isolated incident.
I am truly sorry for this, and I ask that you give me his name so that we can investigate him in our guild
I wonder what was your tour guides name lol I was there from the 3rd -10th and sounds like our tour guide 😂
Scamming is a part of Egyptian culture. You can't let it get to you.
@@peregrino9154 This is nonsense. I myself was scammed in Florida twice, including on a fishing trip with a boat and eating seafood. I discovered that I had paid the price of the trip 6 times without right, and I was scammed. Does this mean that the scam is an American culture?
@@peregrino9154 On the contrary, prices in Egypt are very cheap, compared to other countries, with exaggerated prices for tourists.
You're just choosing the wrong people.
The majority do not accept a single cent without right, in terms of conscience and also because this is forbidden and a major religious crime
Welcome to Egypt at any time. The Egyptian people are beautiful, passionate, and very generous people. They welcome all visitors and offer them a lot, unlike any other country. As for what is happening in Palestine, it is a worrying matter, not only for Egypt, but for the whole world. We, the people of Egypt, do not confuse matters, we understand things well, and we honor the guest, regardless of his nationality. I wish you well and safety anywhere in the world ♥
Thanks for all your info.

We may be there at the same time as I will arrive in Cairo Egypt on the 8th of November. Maybe I will see you there. I am alone too, per usual.
Im planning on travelling alone too next year. But i kind og get afraid because og people telling i get harrased...so i hope u could tell me your experience as a solo traveller. Im asian and living in Norway.
@@pinayviking6899 I always struggle to answer this question because I think there are so many factors that affect one's experience. I think how you experience Egypt is going to depend on your life experience (where you have traveled to solo in the past being part of that experience), if you are a timid person or someone who can speak up for themselves/be aggressive if need be, your threshold/limit/tolerance (whatever you want to call it) for verbal "noise" directed at you (it could be a vendor trying to sell you something or it could be two teen boys saying something), and a dozen other factors.
I came to Egypt as a solo woman traveler 2 years ago with the intent to travel the country for 3 months and then continue on to other countries. Loved it so much I decided to stay and have been living here for 2 years now. I don't personally think it's dangerous (I have never feared for my physical safety), but you should have thick skin, self-confidence and be able to ignore pesky men. If you have past experience traveling solo in developing countries, that will help a lot. Egypt is already a sensory overload for many people visiting that are unaccustomed to this type of environment (chaotic traffic, the honking and shouting-general noise and street activity, pushy vendors, etc.). There are a lot of men that stare, and a fair amount of "wow!" and "oh!" as you wander around as a solo lady (shall we call it verbal harassment?) 🤷♀ But if that doesn't intimidate or bother you, you'll be fine. On the one hand you have many guys staring and saying stuff (typically it's the younger ones), and you also have aggressive vendors that might not take no for an answer. But on the other hand you have very warm and welcoming Egyptians that you only just met that would invite you into their own home to meet their family, have dinner or tea. The women are shy but very friendly if you start the interaction. There are men that will not harass you and simply go about their business and their life, and some vendors that don't push you to buy things. It's a mixed bag, but as long as you know what to expect and feel confident in your own skin and know how to firmly say no, I think it's fine for solo ladies. I've met a lot of other solo lady travelers here who absolutely fell in love with Egypt as I did, and they continue to visit the country again and again. I have explored the country on my own-rode my motorcycle solo across the country through rural villages no tourists visit, I've explored local markets and "rough" or poor neighborhoods that even Egyptians warned me about, and experienced nothing but kindness. Not recommending to do that 😅Just sharing my own experience. I would say I am a well traveled lady though, I've backpacked for months around India and other chaotic countries and am quite savvy when it comes to these types of environments. Just be aware of your surroundings like you would anywhere in the world, be prepared for some next level noise and verbal interactions, and if it's something you feel you can manage, jump into the chaos and enjoy!
Gisel, thank you so much for this video. My husband & I have had a trip to Cairo, Luxor & Aswan planned since Feb. We arrived in Cairo a week ago. We traveled with Aventura world over the last week. We felt extremely safe & had the time of our lives. Thank you again for giving us a little extra assurance. Tell everyone they need to visit Egypt. It was simply amazing.
That's so awesome to hear, I'm so happy to hear you went through with your trip! It is such an incredible country and a shame some people are afraid to travel here to the point where they cancel their trip. I understand their fear if they don't know and aren't here to see how things are, but as you saw for yourself everything is completely fine and safe. Thank you so much for watching and I'm glad to hear I was able to ease some of your concerns a bit before coming! ❤🙏
I really appreciate this video. I head to Egypt on Cairo and I've been feeling a bit uneasy about it, and my family definitely don't want me to go. But it seems like, aside from the occasional protest, its pretty normal there. Maybe just needs a bit of extra caution. Hope I dont come to regret my decision to go...!
Yeah there haven't even been any more protests since I recorded this one, things are completely normal. I get how in the west people are just seeing things on tv and freaking out, but trust me things are the same here as they were when I arrived 2 years ago. That didn't stop my mom in the US from saying to me "You can always come home" when all of this started 😆 But she's probably like your family. I wouldn't worry man. If anything, you'd regret your decision NOT to come. But jump on some platforms on fb about Egypt (like Travel Experience !N Egypt group) and see what people say there. There are new posts every day of people visiting here talking about their trips. Nobody is complaining about the dangers of war, it's not even on their minds.
I am Egyptian and really like what you do i mean in these conditions and war I think this will affect so badly the tourism, but you make more people aware that everything is going ok in Egypt do not be afraid to travel to Egypt it is safe and always will be in sha Allah
Aywa, bizupt. Inshallah, w shukran gidden 🙏
Some Western countries, like U S A for example, you cannot walk alone at night, as you may be exposed to theft, murder, or armed robbery, as well as grocery stores, but in Arab countries, especially Egypt, you can walk alone, whether day or night, in safety, without anyone attacking you, because the law does not govern us. Only, but we are governed by our morals and our religious belief. This is the case of the Arab peoples, not just Egypt, knowing that the Egyptians are a very friendly people and welcome guests and strangers. But when the Egyptians see a people being exterminated in Gaza, this is extremely painful for every Egyptian, because these people are our brothers.
❤❤❤❤

cameras are allowed as long as you don't point them at the police
they take security very seriously, so they don't want anyone to film where the police checkpoints/police officers are standing
there is no checkpoints inside the cities, just the normal police presence
police checkpoints are only on highways between cities for extra security
drones are not allowed for security reasons, it will be confiscated at the airport, if you're planning to bring a drone, Don't do it

Yes, it is an unfortunate consequence of what is happening across the border. It is horrendous that so many innocent people are suffering and being slaughtered there, but it is not happening or affecting the safety of the people here, and for that we must all be grateful. But many people in the west see only Egypt sharing a border with Israel and Palestine, watch the news which is full of fear-mongering, and group Egypt (and all of the middle east, I must sadly say) into this "war zone." You and I and anyone in Egypt knows it is not true and there are no safety issues to be concerned about for people planning travel in Egypt, but it is what many people are concerned about, which is why I made this video, so people could see the streets and hear about the environment and atmosphere from people here. Thank you so much for watching and your support. No problem Claire! Where are you coming from? I don't think immigration should have any problem, it is your choice after all on whether you decide to visit or not. If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to reach out 🥰
We live a normal life in Egypt, so don't worry about coming to us You are welcome any time
Egypt is very safe and I can help you whele you visiting Egypt , reply this message if you want to enjoy your trip in Egypt
We live a normal live in Egypt, no war no violence against tourists, there are a lot of cities that you can enjoy visiting like Aswan that is too far from Israel borders, there is Luxor, hurgada , new Al Alamein city, and Sinai is too safe and stable , there are Dahab, Sharm Elshiekh.
Hi, thank you for this. Can you please tell me where I should get visa for Hurghada. I'm from UK. Isit better to buy when I get there? Thanks
Welcome to Egypt 🇪🇬
Thank you for updating us with the current situation. We are trying to visit soon and will be monitoring your channel. Stay safe and take care!
Badass, thank you so much! I really appreciate your generosity! 🙏🙏 If anything changes in the current situation I will most certainly be posting updates about things here, however, since I made this video there have been no changes, not even any protests. Perhaps you have heard of the 2 missiles that landed in Egypt a few days ago, but those were in the Sinai Peninsula very close to the border (not in Sharm El Sheikh). They are still trying to figure out where they came from, but it seems accidental, like whoever fired them weren't intending for them to land in Egypt. As you saw on the map, almost all the cities that tourists visit in Egypt are far away from the border. Anyways, I will be posting updates if there are significant changes in safety or the climate here, otherwise I will be posting my regular videos which many times show the streets, me interacting with people, and you can see the daily life and behavior of people. It's normal now, thank God.
It's always safe in shaa allah... Welcome any time ❤❤
I'm not Egyptian. I'm from Nighber country . But I want to say thank to you because you are showing the right things . All the best ❤

I’m an American living in Hurghada now for a year. It’s nice 👍 even the McDonald’s fries tastes better here 😅
😆
Haha, I am Egyptian, and I appreciate you coming. Egypt is wonderful, and Egyptian fruits and vegetables taste good. I recommend Egyptian mangoes, they are also wonderful, and all the food is beautiful. ❤
@@shahdmo6768 I’m addicted to Egyptian mango 🥭 🤤
It's an excellent video.
Thanks. Me and my wife from Brasil have booked a trip to egypt in november for our honey moon, but were very worried about this situation. Now im more relaxed
Honeymoon, that's great! Congratulations to you and your wife! November is soon 👍 I know the news is full of fear-mongering, but there is nothing happening here right now. I am always hesitant to speak about the future because I don't have a crystal ball I can look into and see the future😅 but I think it will be fine.
Welcome to Egypt any time I wish you a happy visit We live a normal life in Egypt without worrying about anything
❤❤Have a nice trip, thank you

Ive used your channel to help me whilst im in egypt. Thanks!
Hell yeah. Thanks for watching Craig, glad it's proved helpful! 😎
Great reporting Gisselle❤ Have you thought about organising a tour group for solo female travellers? You are a wealth of knowledge and I would book a tour with you if you ever decide to do so.😊
Thank you so much! To be honest, I don't think I'm cut out to be a tour guide, I've shown a few people around in the past and it was very exhausting 😂 Also if you are going to be legally leading tours in Egypt you need a tour guide license, which is very difficult to get and takes years of study. But I do like meeting up with solo travelers that are passing through! 😅😎
Thanks for the Informative Video // having visited 30+ countries / just had Israel and Egypt Left on my Bucket List // Geez...hopefully in 2024 now !!!
Hell yeah, thanks DjVictorr, that's very generous of you! 🤩 I hope 2024 happens for you! For now, things are good in Egypt, and I hope they continue to remain that way. Thanks again so much🙏

@@DjVictorrr Uh...I don't know much about the history, you would be better off with someone who knows what they are talking about 😅
We thank you from Egypt, and we wish you a happy trip. Egypt is wonderful and has a wonderful climate. The coastal cities will amaze you, as will the antiquities as well. I wish you success in booking your trip and coming to Egypt. I also assure you that it is very safe. ❤
Thank you for this, I will be in Cairo on Wednesday and Egypt for two weeks. This put my mind at ease!
Have an amazing trip! You're going to love it, this crazy, chaotic, magical city I love so much. If you are in downtown Cairo I highly recommend going to El Hamra Street and getting their beef shwarma (Syrian bread is my favorite for the wrap, but you can also choose Lebanese bread). It's actually a Lebanese restaurant 😅 But it's very popular and very busy (for a reason), especially at night, much loved by everyone here. Also try mahshy sometime while you are in Egypt, because it's amazing (and they say here, you can tell if a woman is a good cook by her mahshy 😅). I'll leave a google map link to El Hamra street in case you want to stop by there. maps.app.goo.gl/hGdkjpcmMRzVs2468
@@Gventures Wow, thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
Egypt will be honored by your visit ❤
@@Gventures I just returned from 16 days there, had an incredible time! Didn’t get to the restaurant but was close when visiting the Egyptian Museum. BTW, I felt safer in Egypt than in my hometown!
@@shahdmo6768 I was honored to be there, an incredible country with great people!
As an Egyption I liked your kind words about Egypt and your accent you looked like an Egyption when you said Sharmelsheikh 😊😂❤
Came back home a week before the war broke out. Always wondered how the country has been since. Thanks for sharing
Egypt is great and completely save ❤i visit it last month and it was a great experience for me ❤

Thank you for the beautiful video. You are enlightened. Egypt. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism must give you the award. Yes, Egypt is safe and reassuring. I hope you have a good time in Egypt Alexandrian once from here
Shukran gidden 🙏
I really appreciate you making this video! I am traveling to Egypt in 5 weeks with family and friends. One friend has already backed out because she is afraid. I even sent her this video. Will you be posting more updates?
Honestly, I probably won't be posting updates about the current environment here UNLESS something changes that shifts the atmosphere, mood and safety of the country. If I don't post a new video talking about he safety here, it's because it has remained the same since I made this video. But I will be posting my normal weekly videos about street food, markets, etc. as I always do, and in those videos I am usually interacting with people and walking around the streets, so you will be seeing Egypt from that view.
Egypt nowadays is literally the saftest place in the world , have a lot of wonderful places to visit , Egypt is best destination for any tourist or someone looking for a vacation , also it have the best , cheapest prices, we all happily waiting for you

Wonderful work, and the camel earring is also beautiful.. but unfortunately there is a possibility of Egypt entering into a war as a result of Israel’s intransigence and harassment of Egypt. We enjoy long-suffering and patience, and we do not like war. thank you.👍✌
