    So, I see that you can work on the tones of the selected object but how can I work on the tones of the B&W portion of the image? Thanks in advance.

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  4 роки тому +2

      Alexander3487 You should just be able to invert the later masks to invert the area of the image you are affecting with your adjustment layers. Just select the layer mask in the layers panel and press CTRL + I to invert.

      @@NewLayer Thanks a lot, I will practice that and hopefully I'll be able to do it!

    Thanks for the tutorial! In the comments, you mention that there is a lot of software including Apple apps that create this effect automatically. What are they?

    Great video, well done. But I have a problem: how I get back to the original colours, because i can see grey and this sort of red/orange. Thanks

    • @lorenzog1601
      @lorenzog1601 3 роки тому +1

      I mean, when I click "Invert" the area I picked with the eye drop it becomes all red/orange

      Sounds like maybe you accidentally went into Quick Mask mode (Q)

    Hi John,
    Is there any way to make a selection from a particular level of highlight to a particular level of darkness?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! I don't have a tutorial on it myself, but look up Luminosity Masks. It is a method that allows you to make selections based on the luma, or brightness, of the image, rather than the colors :)

    What program you use?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  4 роки тому

      Photoshop CC, but this could be done in really old versions of Photoshop too.

    And can you do this on a free program

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  4 роки тому

      I'm sure you can do this in GIMP with a little more work. Just duplicate the image, desaturate the bottom layer, then use a layer mask to shown only the object you want to be colored.
