The “I think we’re a little too close” line by Roger always cracks me up.
In the french version, he says "maybe we went to far" :D
one of the more underrated chase scenes in cinematic history. The logistics of this were a nightmare to film. The majority of the freeway scenes were filmed in Las Vegas/Henderson on the Interstate 215 before it was completed there. Freeway was still being built when they filmed this. Though near completion.
I love it how they filmed it with no CGI
@@lexkanyima2195 exactly. CGI has it's place because actors can't get injured while filming . But this is great, old school action filmmaking.
Spettacolare la vecchia Mercedes 560 SEC V 12 300 CV

Damn right
Yep, I agree.
Hello my friend writing with great pleasure
Except for the guy getting hit by the bus, he was a dummy.
Pontiac wasn't lying with their "we build excitement" ads
Brian Rosado Imagine if this was an add everyone would buy one cause all the abuse this car took during the chase
Even the ads said "Designed for action"
Gosto dessa cena, além da perseguição do Bad Boys2 e do 007 Tomorrow Never Dies.
I have a gt model and honestly even though it's not considered fast today it's feels awesome to drive

The little Pontiac that could.
The baby firebird with no pop up headlights
It has better stability than a rear wheel drive Mercedes Benz.

That classic Lethal Weapon Sax whenever a fun moment happens lol

In real life that Pontiac would have overheated and blown head gasket in the first 30 seconds.
Considering it went up against a Mercedes Benz, I doubt it would even be able to keep up to do so.
As someone that owns one drives one it all depends on oil changes if the motor will last 166,000 on mine still going strong. Head gaskets blow on these cars cause of lack of maintenance mostly
The fact of their winshield never been broken, is what is surprising the most 😅
This was filmed on the 215 freeway between Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada. You can clearly see the desert surroundings and mountains surrounding Vegas in the background.
Love how Riggs says step on the gas, the floors it himself, next shot, the brake lights are on
Why not both lol
And,how easy it's been to reach the gas pedal ,especially, with all the stuff between of driver and passenger seat, shifter, hand brake, cup holders, climate control, name it 😅

Haven't seen these cabover for long time.
I like it when the semi truck hit the bad guy
2 trains hit them too.
As Jay Leno would say, Both cars are "pretty much bulletproof!"

2:01 Murtaugh: Get away from my boy!
‘We’ll have to find out from the other guy’ 😂😂
Best car chase in Lethal Weapon 4.
4:11 was the LOL moment. The tires.
+eldo59 Yeah and Riggs at that moment saying, "We're gaining on him."
This honestly to this day still makes me laugh 😂😂
I love the sparking aluminum wheels...
Can’t exactly catch up with those tires.
"If you can read this, you are too close" was my perfect tattoo phrase under my belly button when I was younger and single lol
This scene must’ve been extremely difficult to film.
Not only that scene, any Car Chase scene
Probably not as they're professionals. Filmed outside of Vegas btw.
I never like seeing a classic Merc wrecked. That car WAS stunning.
@@doggo5577 dobut it, at that time it was just a second hand merc. Like a w220 today

My friend had this on vhs he had Sony home theatre and would put them up loud so cool!
Hello my friend writing with great pleasure
I have a 560sel, so i know the sound, i am actually impressed they put the real m117 sound in rather than just some generic v8 sound they usually put on everything.
Nothing like riding furniture down a highway
Anyone else find it funny that riggs flies out the truck and lands on the table and goes table surfing 😂
i remember my dad taking me to see this in the theaters and he started laughing at that part :D

That brand new '99 Grand Am was the main reason I wanted to see this movie, because it looked cool!!!! But unfortunately I was only 9 in '98.
Ir wasn't even available by the time the movie came out.
@@funwithflags4539 wait, so they wrecked a brand new car? Then I hope it was one of those prototypes and premodels that they scrap anyway

A guy falls overboard and get crush by a Greyhound bus.
I love car chases like this :-)
Fun fact this was filmed in Las Vegas on the 215 freeway. The freeway was still under construction so filming this was probably easy.
How ?
That were really cool and creative action scenes, driving through a house. Never seen something similar in cinema. And this it is for all "Lethal weapon" or all Brosnan-Bonds. Today the scenes are longer, bigger, but this kind of creativity is long gone. Today it so often seems, you have seen it before.
Twister had that kind of scene. I found it funny There wasn't much though.

my silver 2004 Grand Am SE1 still runs strong at almost 200k. don't think it could take that kind of abuse though haha

While Riggs on the table, it was made of Vibranium. When he was off of it, it turned into actual wood lol
Very underrated sequel! Mel Gibson was arguably the biggest movie star in the world at the time.
that always cracks me up that movie mistake, when they drive through the office building, riggs steps on the accelerator and says keep going then they immediately cut to a rear shot of the car showing the brake lights on.. 😂 hey guys pull the taillight bulbs out first huh...
That's my Dads truck!! It was an 86 362, unfortunately a month after the chase was filmed the truck burned down to the ground:( I have plenty of behind the scenes photos
When was the chase filmed? I'm just curious as to when that Grand Am started going on sale.
+LAL730s we filmed it in April of 1997 I believe, the Pontiac were all concept cars that had to be crushed after the film regardless of condition because they had no vin numbers. we filmed for about 4 weeks in Clark county Las Vegas.
Really? Hmm, that explains a lot, because I got mine in December or '98, didn't get the plates till March however, first time I seen the new Grand Am rollin' the street was like in June or July of 1998, however, I saw one last week in North Hollywood that had a 4A plate, which had to be issued sometime between mid February & mid March of '98, mines 4ENZ707.
+LAL730s the plan was to get the movie out with the new Grand Am so people would rush to the dealer for the new model. I got to go for a ride in that car, it was stupid fast
Fosho, handled great too, the bright red is like the perfect color for this car.
1:06 ouch ! That's gotta hurt
Awesome movie!
this was the last hurrah for the Pontiac Grand Am. it disappeared not long after this movie.
As did the rest of Pontiac.
8 years is a long ass time. The GT was on point tho, unless you got a bright colored(red)SE1 or better, best thing to do is to get it new, like I did, & throw some triple gold D's on that bitch.
Patrick H 2007 marked the last year of Pontiac. GM cut Oldsmobile earlier in the 2000s, and Saturn after Pontiac.
The G6 replaced the Grand Am. The problem with the Grand Am is that the dashboards were made very cheaply and cracked. Also it was very easy to break the air conditioning control knobs. For being a mid-sized car, the Grand Am was not gas efficient.
JR9979
It had a decent 6 to 7 year run after this movie
This has to be the best advertisement for Pontiac
