Isn't that just what he does in the show anyway, trains and fights the next biggest foe he comes across? Even early in the very first Db he's already done one or two training arcs and I'm barely past the 30th episode.

Honestly, I could see goku asking her like this, haha. But he's also the good guy, so even if he did end up beating her badly on accident, he would probably give her a senzu bean like: "Whoops, didn't think you would go down so easily." He also likes lowering his own power level to his opponents for a challenge too.
I've heard a pretty nice theory that Makima can only regenerate as long as some part of her body remains, be it a single drop of blood or a splatter of brain matter, as in the manga she has only ever been seen regenerating from some original mass of her body that was... displaced in a fight, and it was never simply grown from the mutiliated part, rather the displaced mass returning to where the largest mass of her body is. Thus, if Goku lands a huge energy attack like Kamehameha, it'll likely vaporize Makima and give Goku the win. In terms of durability, Makima is shown to have that of a regular human's, though her strength is likely superior in her hand to hand fight with the (pseudo) chainsaw man. If Goku was going for the kill, it would be rather easy to blitz Makima, and while she is forced to heal, hit her with a massive energy attack.

Hakai or Mafuba go oom if his regular attacks don't work, though Hakai is manga only for Goku, but Mafuba he can use in both. As a last resort he could theoretically wipe out all of Japan to kill her for good and then use the Dragon Ball's, but he wouldn't need to do that nor would he be willing to honestly.
