I was really hoping they would flatten Ogryn's skill tree bars. Other classes don't have the dumb angle tree bars that prevent you crossing over. The bleed on heavy hits and soften them up are both trapped behind this.

Especially when you compare this to zealot who stacks 15% toughness reduction with 50% toughness reduction on critical hit with 25% damage reduction on a dodge on not going down every 2 minutes. The interrupt immunity is also available to Zealot through "Thy wrath be swift" which also removes ALL stuns and not just melee stuns as the subtext implies. It's been bugged like this for years but they've never fixed it. The heavy object carrying thing is a meme. Just slide and/or use stealth. There's absolutely nothing Ogryn does that Zealot doesn't do 5x better.

Ogryn is worse in that 80%, but even in the remaining 20% skilled zealot players will slide and throw objects over cover and terrain, or just straight up use stealth which already gives insane 1-shot boss damage and so many other benefits that the game goes down a difficulty level just by picking it.

1 note about that reload skill (5 enemies hit = faster reload) the ogryn's taunt works on it, and so does ranged attacks that hit 5 enemies at once (like the kickback), which lets you have really good reload without using point blank barrage

If you stop taking Burst Limiter Override, you can afford some talent taxes. Until they rework that one or Feel No Pain, I think No Keystone is worth considering for Gun Ogryns.
I agree, and I think my gunlugger is (mostly) unharmed by this, but I also think the point is that Ogryn is already in a bad place and now they have to keep making more sacrifices to get the traits they need. Frankly I'd love if they straightened out the tree a little so I could go between the left and right side easier (like every other class), and maybe gave them some new nodes to play with like the ones that fan out on the psyker tree. A little more expansion for bleed and shove options for example? Or maybe some sort of boost when a taunted enemy dies within cohesion range (giving a little more purpose to Towering Presence)? Heck, sometimes simple is best. Zealot gets a node for +2 wounds, what if Ogryn just got a node for +75 health or +3 stamina or something? As it stands sacrificing a capstone would let us pay the new taxes, but then what else do you go for? There's very few actual options in the tree with how cut off it is from itself.
Yeah, the minus 15 pct damage on the kickback for ALL possible ogryn builds other than gunslinger makes one of the only half decent ranged weapons now worse other classes get to have decent melee and ranged at the same time, meanwhile ogryn pretty much has neither and a massive size to make gunners a huge problem too.
I'm okay with getting towering presence for free because it can help proc bruiser (and it's previous talent onto allies) more, but yeah the trade offs are just sad.
This is a good point for Towering Presence not being fully useless, but I still fucking hate this. Basically all the real value of the top right is now resting on Steady Grip being bugged and Frag Bomb being better than Box.
Ogryn is still my most plated class. But goooooooosh, i only play Vet now. Big man got so nerfed. And when ever i talk trash about how limited Ogryn is, these RPing casuals are the first to defend the Ogryn. It's a 'fun' class, but I'm actually trying to push it to the very limit. It's honestly annoying playing a game of catch up with the other classes .

Hank says himself in the video that he is disappointed with what the ogryn can do compared to what Zealot or Veteran is doing. Dont blame the testers because Fatshark is rtarded and doesn’t care. Maybe the testers are dumb too idk, but I’m not inclined to believe that from what I’ve seen

Yes nerf ogryn the class that gets out dps in melee by a twink for god, has less support options than a schizophrenic wizard, and gets out gunned by every aspect by a guy who survived 1 whole day of war without dying
3:10 incorrect it triggers on ranged attacks as well and is one of the best nodes for rumbler, kickback and grenade gauntlet. Honestly most of these changes are nothing of substance to slightly worse. On an actual good ogryn gunlugger build you lose one useful talent point but it is still incomprehensible how the devs are even playing ogryn for these changes to make sense.
Towering Presence passively buffs Bruiser by letting teammates further away contribute to gaining combat ability faster. Also works on Get stuck in and Bone Breaker Aura. I personally run Towering Presence so this is a buff for my build.
Bruiser is really for gunlugger anyway, you don't need a faster cooldown on Charge, it has a low cooldown as is, especially with 3 curios. So it didn't even do much for melee builds, just hurts gunlugger.
I saw this earlier. Its actually insane. I too was expecting an ogryn buff. Or at least, a BETTER reshuffle kinda like what they did with psyker. Instead they moved FOUR perks and somehow made him WORSE. Honestly a super funny joke.
Being in coherency also keeps the AI director from throwing extra disabler specialists. Because Ogryn is the slowest class, he's the most likely to fall behind the squad through normal gameplay. Imo expanded Coherency range from Towering is a hedge against that. Increased Coherency range also helps with Bruiser. I don't think it's an amazing skill, but it's often one I wish I had *one* more point for.
I mean, that’s not a terrible idea but it’s still weak. They should make it 100% bigger then, not 50%. But really they should have rolled it into the already terrible coherency aura in the middle. That would at least give it something and then turn that node into anything else, really.

Coherency radius is good for tank aura builds since the defensive aura buffs are attached to your coherency range. Pacemaker is not melee only btw. I do wish the ogryn middle tree had something like veterans "Born Leader" or a coherency wide toughness reduction.
im betting five dollars fatshark does not even know that their "toughness replenishment" talents only work on the garbo coherency regen. because thats how i saw it for more than a year, increased toughness regen working like the low health berserk skill to the left of the tree, giving you more value on the 20% heavy strike toughness gain ones. This reeks of designers that does not play what they design, just like world of warcraft.

Ogryn has the worst base mobility, biggest size so takes the most damage + cc and the lowest ranged damage output out of all the classes. They might as well just nerf the melee tree at the same time and call it a day. That way everyone has a good reason to avoid playing ogryn.
Seriously I expected a buff, not a nerf. I was already only playing melee build with left side keystone but making gunlugger even worse means it might as well be taken off the tree, along with the feel no pain. Because only one of these are fully playable now.
I was really excited to try out the gun lugger build on ogryn but wanted to wait until after the supposed buffs. Guess that’s not happening anymore lmao
I would rather not, its just my opinion and i dont want to be annoying on their forums. I dont think they will take my feedback, they have testers they trust and i really doubt they're going to change their ways.
As a Psyker main with each class to 30, This felt like stepping on the necks of Ogryn's super hard for no reason instead of pulling them back into balance. Every other Auric mission is zealots on Zealots with the occasional Vet tossed in. If I get a match with an Ogryn they're usually paired with another one and just having fun. The talent tree's all needed attention but not expanding their pathways and limiting their already pre-built nodes behind other's now feels odd. At least we finally aren't going to be one shot by the stray common trash as a Witch now, maybe I can actually keep some toughness up while supporting in Havoc.
Currently I play on heresy, so I can assure you it's hard to deal more damage than an achlys gunlugger. It can only happen when the player concentrates collecting every chunk of resources on the map, and opens all crates, thus falls behind. Fatshark has the damage summary from players, they collect every kind of data.
After getting all the penances on every class I gotta say working on Ogryn was super annoying and it surprises me that all the other classes outperform him by a huge margin if Fatshark sat down and played their game they would understand this.

not only did we not get a stormbolter, instead getting yet another Stubber as a "new weapon" when everyone else is getting *actual* new stuff, but we also suffer the wrath of the nerf bat? its borderline abusive doing this to Ogryn while Zealot is doing *all of that shit* with the Dueling sword

Coherency radius is good for tank aura builds since the defensive aura buffs are attached to your coherency range.
Pacemaker is not melee only btw.
I do wish the ogryn middle tree had something like veterans "Born Leader" or a coherency wide toughness reduction.

Pacemaker doesn't require melee hits. Even continuous fire from a stubber apparently counts as a "single attack".

im betting five dollars fatshark does not even know that their "toughness replenishment" talents only work on the garbo coherency regen.
because thats how i saw it for more than a year, increased toughness regen working like the low health berserk skill to the left of the tree, giving you more value on the 20% heavy strike toughness gain ones.
This reeks of designers that does not play what they design, just like world of warcraft.
They need to remake the trees POE style. Be able to reach all points from all other points and give the chance to add 5 more points

I dont hate the game or even anyone who made these changes. I am just… baffled. Changes seem totally arbitrary from the outside and i doubt we will hear any justification.
Ogryn has the worst base mobility, biggest size so takes the most damage + cc and the lowest ranged damage output out of all the classes. They might as well just nerf the melee tree at the same time and call it a day. That way everyone has a good reason to avoid playing ogryn.

I was already only playing melee build with left side keystone but making gunlugger even worse means it might as well be taken off the tree, along with the feel no pain.
Because only one of these are fully playable now.
Worse still, moving towering presence up top is actually a buff for heavy hitter. Best build just got better, runner up got shaftes

Pacemaker works on both melee and ranged attacks. It sounds like a sensible choice for Kickback or Rumbler.

I would rather not, its just my opinion and i dont want to be annoying on their forums. I dont think they will take my feedback, they have testers they trust and i really doubt they're going to change their ways.
As a Psyker main with each class to 30, This felt like stepping on the necks of Ogryn's super hard for no reason instead of pulling them back into balance. Every other Auric mission is zealots on Zealots with the occasional Vet tossed in. If I get a match with an Ogryn they're usually paired with another one and just having fun. The talent tree's all needed attention but not expanding their pathways and limiting their already pre-built nodes behind other's now feels odd.
At least we finally aren't going to be one shot by the stray common trash as a Witch now, maybe I can actually keep some toughness up while supporting in Havoc.
Currently I play on heresy, so I can assure you it's hard to deal more damage than an achlys gunlugger. It can only happen when the player concentrates collecting every chunk of resources on the map, and opens all crates, thus falls behind. Fatshark has the damage summary from players, they collect every kind of data.
After getting all the penances on every class I gotta say working on Ogryn was super annoying and it surprises me that all the other classes outperform him by a huge margin if Fatshark sat down and played their game they would understand this.

Cool. I thought I might come back to the game again but now I know I can just uninstall it for good. Seems like no developer has followed the drama around Helldivers 2 or Space Marine 2 lately and is just trying their best to suck the fun out of their game. You know what would help? -Playtesting your own game. But, nah.

Hes still fine, its just that he needs buffs to be as good as the humans are, and this is not what many wanted for him.
@MisterEtide I just hope those buffs come soon. I'm a gamer who will avoid under powered things. I don't want to work harder for fewer results.
