Call this the longevity episode: The Bridges were married for sixty years before Lloyd died in 1998, the Mandels have been married for 42 years as of this writing (September 2022), and, even though the Jordan/Peyser marriage ended two years after this taping, James Carroll Jordan has been married to his second wife for 29 years.
Thank you. How rare and how beautiful. I believe Lloyd and Dorothy were excellent parents based on how Beau and Jeff seem to be: deeply kind and generous. ❤
Howie Mandel also starred in the Toronto-filmed 1981 movie "Gas", you can get it right here, I remember watching it on pay-TV back many years ago and I have the VHS of it myself, it was about the gas shortage of 1980. www.amazon.com/Gas-VHS-Susan-Anspach/dp/B00005BJOK/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=Gas&qid=1599375578&refinements=p_n_format_browse-bin%3A2650307011&rnid=2650303011&s=movies-tv&sr=1-10
....and the 1981 film that spoofed the gas crisis of the early 80's, and I do have the VHS of it, "Gas". I clearly remember seeing it numerous times on both HBO and on ON TV, in which was L.A.'s subscription service that showed movies unedited as well as local sports and other events.
OMG THANK YOU!!!! I kept saying to my husband "What the hell is wrong with him here? It's like he shouldn't be allowed to leave the house by himself. I mean WTF?!"
You are right! I know Lloyd and Dorothy were very proud of Beau and Jeff. They had to have started teaching them kindness and generosity at a young age.
Seriously? First off, a Southern Ontario accent (Toronto) where Howie is from, is very similar to the accent of the northern United States. Second, he's just doing his comedy act which he doesn't do much anymore.
This very same bell was also used on Super Password, another Mark Goodson show, I like it better, it would've best suited this show unlike the TPIR bell
Remember, this is about 30 years before America's Got Talent. That's the way he was in the 80s. He was basically a stand-up comedian and back then, that character was his schtick. He was probably most known for putting a latex glove on his head, covering just under his nose, and exhaling through his nose to "inflate' the glove.
I would have loved this episode if Howie Mandel wasn't on it....he is extremely annoying and not funny at all....Love Mr Bridges especially in Airplane and James was awesome in Rich Man Poor Man !!
Howie was an immature young Canadian guy here, from how it seems.. I have Canadian relatives. I think he is too hyped up. Howie has really refined his stage presence since this was taped.. However others here know his early comedy routines and characters and I do not know his early work at all. He wa also a part of that improvement show. Its good he has refined himself. He really is not well contained here. I wonder if they are still married. Maybe back then he believed that he had to be funny at any cost and had to try to get a laugh.
Bert was so underrated!
Penny and James! ❤ Love Lloyd and Dorothy, too. ❤ They are impressive players. Dorothy, James, Penny, and Terrie seem quite sharp.
Yes, I believe in love at first sight
Howie Mandel with hair - and tons of it - wow!

The phone question in today’s terms 😆
I remember Howie Mandel from the 1990s cartoon, "Bobby's World", my favorite childhood cartoon show, and Deal or No Deal.
This is the way Howie Mandel's comedy was back in the early 80's. He got better after doing St. Elsewhere.
Howie Mandel also starred in the Toronto-filmed 1981 movie "Gas", you can get it right here, I remember watching it on pay-TV back many years ago and I have the VHS of it myself, it was about the gas shortage of 1980.

I almost didn’t recognize Howie,what a change
Howie Mendel did a lot of shows such as Bobby's World, Laugh Track, Deal or No Deal, America's Got Talent and others.
....and the 1981 film that spoofed the gas crisis of the early 80's, and I do have the VHS of it, "Gas". I clearly remember seeing it numerous times on both HBO and on ON TV, in which was L.A.'s subscription service that showed movies unedited as well as local sports and other events.
As a kid I remember watching Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges.
this was about 1 month one week after i was born on the 21st of september 1982 in Australia cant wait to watch the episode
Howie sure has changed a lot.
Most importantly, they're still married. Terry must be an angel tolerating Howie's idiosyncrasies.
It's an act, like Bobcat Goldthwait.
And Not for The Best! He is a Known Psycho here in Hollywood
That was Howie's schtick back then.
it is weird
Mandell sort sounding like Andy Kaufman here .
Howie!!! Just seen him shake hands with the host lol!!!
Howie’s high as a kite.
I wonder if he ever sees this and cringes. Very cute guy, but he was a little too “on.” He and Terrie did well, though.
That was Howie? Good God, the hair xD
Why do I feel like Howie Mandel was stoned while taping this episode?
I was just thinking the exact same thing!
bpot22 HE HAS ADHD
He was not stoned that was his act back then, and he has done pretty good, Id say...
Howie Mandel is so annoying
Future game show host, Howie Mandel, on Tattletales.
Wow... this is painful to watch.
Lloyd and his wife stayed married to the very end, Howie is still married to his wife. James Carroll and his wife in 1984...
Did Howie Mandel get a brain transplant after this episode?
I keep loling at your comment!!!
Me too. He changed brains when he was on the set of St. Elsewhere. He did some decent work there. The episode when he gets shot was good.
OMG THANK YOU!!!! I kept saying to my husband "What the hell is wrong with him here? It's like he shouldn't be allowed to leave the house by himself. I mean WTF?!"
That's awful!
I like Howie's hair I wish he didn't go bald he looks better on here.
+Joshua Smith i don't know why he does that, even a little hair is better than none at all.
+Clancy Coburn He stated in an interview that he shaved his head because of his mysophobia, saying that a lack of hair makes him feel cleaner.
He shaved it for an acting roll and Howie's wife liked it and so he shaves it.
Liane Layman maybe it was a marty allen thing.
I remember Howie's silly routine Bobby back then, he got his start that way so I guess it worked out pretty good for him....😊
Lloyd Bridges is Big Lebowski Sr.
You are right! I know Lloyd and Dorothy were very proud of Beau and Jeff. They had to have started teaching them kindness and generosity at a young age.
Wow, Howie had a seriously thick Canadian accent back then.
Seriously? First off, a Southern Ontario accent (Toronto) where Howie is from, is very similar to the accent of the northern United States. Second, he's just doing his comedy act which he doesn't do much anymore.
@@fabio40 Sounds a bit like the MacKenzie Brothers. Just waiting for him to use the term "hoser"....
Howie didn’t have his OCD then? Geez....
Was the announcer who voiced TattleTales from 1975-78 Gene Wood was busy to work on ABC's Family Feud?
Duc Nguyen - Gene Wood announced both. Johnny took over from 82-84.
I thought Howie had a phobia about shaking hands! He seemed okay greeting the audience at the very beginning of the show.
Perhaps he got it later in his life.
Nobody knew about his phobia until the 90's. He came out publicly about Mysophobia on the Howard Stern Show sometime in the 90's
+survived abortion but he knew about it
Greedy D He didn't want people to think he was crazy. So yes you are right.
Maybe back then he did.
Terry and Howie. Twelve years before NFL on FOX's version.
You can believe in love at fist sight even if it doesn't happen to you. God Howie sure is weird. I can't watch it when he talks.
Fist?
Howie had alot of hair back then.
He still does, he shaves it for his wife.
Liane Layman he shaves it because he wants to feel more clean less risk of germs as he talked about it on an interview years later
Howie had hair? :P
Watch St. Elsewhere from the mid-80's. Howie definitely had a lot of hair.
Whaaaaat Howie Mandel is on there???
that was Terrie right? the wife of Howie...
Yes.
They were a very attractive couple.
It sounds like Howie is straining to talk. Weird!
The future "Deal or No Deal" emcee, some 23 years prior.
Christopher Howell future deal or no deal host, little howie, and Bobbie.
20:22 That was the NBC/Shop 'Til You Drop bell. They should've used the regular CBS dinging like Price is Right was at that time.
This very same bell was also used on Super Password, another Mark Goodson show, I like it better, it would've best suited this show unlike the TPIR bell
What the hell was wrong with Howie??? He seemed to be drunk or high.
Idk
Alex, in my haste, I forgot to thank you for the upload. I love watching these old gameshows. Thanks!!
You're welcome! I'm glad you also enjoy old classic game shows as well as I do!
Dee Green HE HAS ADHD

How did Mandell ever become popular?!!!!
Howie Mandel Before Deal Or No Deal.
I forgot Howie used to act like he had a disability
God Mandell is ANNOYING...and then to imply his wife is a Pros.. 🤢
Howie developed his germaphobia later.
They needed to lower the price . 7500. Was way too high. 5000.
I would have loved this episode if Howie Mandel wasn't on it....he is extremely annoying and not funny at all....Love Mr Bridges especially in Airplane and James was awesome in Rich Man Poor Man !!
Howie host the game show Make Me Laugh .
He never hosted Make Me Laugh.
he is copying bobcat goldthwait.
I "didn't get" what Howie had ontil I saw Bert mouth "handbag".
How-weird!

He hasn't changed much!
Bert forgot "from St. Elsewhere". Howie was on that medical drama.
Christopher Howell I'm not sure SE was already airing when this episode was taped...
Well, "St. Elsewhere" debuted on October 26th, two days after this episode.
St Elsewhere was an NBC show and Tattletales was CBS; so it was (and still) not kosher for a network to plug their competition's shows.
Why not, may I ask?
