On Friday November The 13th, 2020, the L.A. BEAST was nothing short of a man on a mission. Ever since seeing fellow UA-camr's Dude Perfect achieve the #GuinnessWorldRecords Title for Farthest Distance Walked Barefoot on #LEGO Bricks, he thought to himself, "That looks easy". Being that this is a very popular record to try and break, the L.A. BEAST researched the latest champion of this record and this man's name is Salacnib "Sonny" Molina who walked an astounding 3,869.84 meters (which equals 12,696 feet 2 inches or 2.404 MILES!!!) After doing further research, LA BEAST found out that not only does Sonny Molina run full marathons barefoot, but he achieved this record in honor of his late father who passed away...and even more so, on the day LA BEAST was attempting to break his record, Sonny was also trying to shatter his own record. After spending over $1,000 for roughly 10,000 LEGO Bricks and organizing a professional land surveyor, two EMT emergency workers on standby and witnesses...the LA BEAST would begin his 3 HOUR long journey (to where the beast almost quit 7 different times) walking barefoot on LEGOS to try and become the best in the world. After the very first step, the LA BEAST immediately realized that this record is way harder than it looks.

You don’t actually have pain receptors despite this commonly being printed everywhere, as an oversimplification unfortunately even in many medical textbooks. You have damage receptors or technically “nociceptors”, from the Latin “nocere” meaning “to harm”.
Nociceptive input starts peripherally, so The free ending nociceptors in Kevin’s feet are travelling up his leg, where they compete with other sensory feedback, such as movement, then that input is further “gated” at the spinal cord with non noxious input preferable to noxious input then once it gets to the brain the brain has to process and decide what to do with it. (I’m sure most people reading this don’t care about further in-depth neuroanatomy lol)
So pain isn’t an accurate indicator of tissue damage it’s a threat predictor mechanism to try and keep your body safe.
The more you have confidence over the area and a sense of safety, the more you’ll be able to tolerate the stimulus.
Think about this, if you’re in an elevated/worked up/anxious state the brain will ramp up the nociceptive input into a further pain response.
Also the brain sometimes generates pain with no no necessary relevant nociceptive injury such as many states of centralized sensitization or states like fibromyalgia and chronic pain.
Anyways, Kevin’s brain knows he’s got this, and he is used to subjecting himself to high amounts of nociception and unsavoury stimuli so he can handle things better.

I knew it was going to be a wild ride. I just hopped on and hung on till the end. It’s more mentally grueling but then there’s a very strong physical pain on your feet that follows. It’s like a tattoo artist buzzing your feet for a full 3 hours

Some of them were so deprived of sleep they would walk for miles asleep walking to their next mission to then fight the next battle all during different weather conditions & terrain conditions no real rest or good food or being able to shower & stay clean & witnessing death all around with the smell of rotting flesh & fellow commrad's being killed in action. It was definitely mind over matter to stay alive & all about being mentally strong to try & survive no matter what if possible .
I think most people who have at one time or another stepped onto a single lego or multiple will understand just how strong of a person you really are for doing this. I already had lot's of respect for you because of your hard work and dedication to the channel and your community but this is just another insanely high level of respect right here. The beast already proved his mental endurance when he wore those gloves filled with ants years ago. That was a rite of passage, something that required true focus. We all have stepped on a couple leggos before, and it sucked. Beast, each of your videos is a mini rite of passage, and this one is no different. I know a lot of your videos you do to get us to "have a good day" and smile, Beast, but this not only did that but proved again your threshold for pain is something amazing.
