Lowering the tyre pressures allows more movement in the tyre block, making it easier to heat up, but increasing contact patch Raising tyre pressures reduces contact patch and heats up quicker to heat up It's better to soften the tyres, as you get a larger contact patch as well as good tyre heat up
If you're having a hard time controlling the rear during corners: Warm up the tyres (slicks and softer compounds require higher temperatures) Lower the tyre pressure, with the front higher than the rear Soften the suspension overall, with the front stiffer than the rear (not too far apart) Soften the overall slow bump and rebound, with the front stiffer than the rear (not too far apart) Increase deceleration lock (or viscous lock if the car doesn't use a limited slip differential) Keep the weight towards the middle of the car (by adding throttle or finishing heavy braking before the turn)
How has Ben got this far in sim racing/gaming and not realize that LOWERING the tire pressures INCREASES the contact patch and thus heat, not the other way around. All the people saying this game is shit because the wet tires were better its because Ben is running the wrong tire pressures.
JakeTV Aarav is bad at racing properly, he focuses on modding and editing (which he does greatly), but there's so many better channels than his in terms of driving...
Unlike some Sim-Racing professors I did like this vid a lot! Just like me new at PC2 at some point and just trying stuff out, learning as you go. A shitload of fun and to be honest, that is what it's all about. Sorry you stopped doing PC2 vids, but we always have the PC2 ace Rickybrosh for that. Keep up the good work!
I've seen these cars in real life and all the ones I've seen have grooves, in fact they use the same tires for wet and dry (yes, it does get really crazy in the rain). They're not really fast or heavy enough to effectively use slicks, also they use the tires multiple times for cost cutting. Also, in Project Cars games the tires are warmed for the race but not the other sessions.
Reason why Wets have more grip than the slicks: - In ben's last video with slicks, the tyre temperature was relatively cold for most of the race. Here the wets are well in the green temps. - *In Project Cars 1, cold tyres have almost no grip compared to heated tyres.* Conclusion: either the devs have some tweaking to do on formula rookie tyres, or you need to change the tyre pressures to help them warm up faster.
the way the "automatic by weather" tyre choice works, is it selects the tyre based on the current weather. there's no strategy involved at all. if it's raining, you'll get wets. if it's not, you'll get slicks, if the track is dry. if there's an intermediate option, it'll be those when it rains on a dry track. the option does not take in account what will happen weather-wise 1 lap from the start, or anything further than that.
The tire temperature is making the difference. In Race you start with fully heated tires, in qualy you start with cold tires and they take a while to warm up
Car set up is very important in project cars, the differences it makes are tremendous. Need to understand what has to be adjusted based on how the car reacts on track. Read the definitions and itll help you eliminate oversteer or understeer based on what the car is doing.
USE THE RACE ENGINEER! just go through the issues you have with the car, rear end locking up under breaking, mid corner loss of traction, tyre heating. AND LOWER THE FUEL LEVEL! other than that great content! :P
His tyre pressures were ridiculously high which is why the wet tyres were in a good temp range. High tyre pressures on soft tyres make them impossible to heat up and impossible to drive on. High tyre pressures means wets > drys
STOP TREATING EVERY RACING GAME LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE F1. THE CARS DON'T HAVE TO GET OUT OF YOUR WAY WHEN YOU'RE QUALIFYING also sort out your tire pressures
Well Ben... me being a racer like a real life racer I know that my race kart in the wet the rear doesn't slide through most corners unless it's high speed or I'm too hard on throttle so ye a car like that would have more traction in the wet as that is much like a kart
If I could only say one thing, its that not every race is a Grand Prix. Especially what appears to be a Formula Ford race. I believe it is just referred to, as a race.
There's usually a telemetry button to see what type of tires you have on. Put that up it will say. Also, you blow in qualifying because you need to heat up tires, not push otherwise. Cold tires is like stiff springs, everything glides like on ice. Also stop Rough Turning + Braking and Rough Turning + Throttle.
You went the wrong way with the tyre pressures for heating. You need to drop them a few psi to get the rubber moving around more which generates more heat in the tyre block. Downside is they will wear out sooner.
Does it not feel better "in the wet" because the track is staying dry on the racing line and the increase of rubber on the track is providing more grip? guess it depends how realistic the game is.
The reason the wets are working for you is cos they are at their correct working temp, (from project cars 1 experience)the race tyres start at the correct temp, none of the tyres work when cold (blue). I donno how to warm them up properly, i normal do 2 to 3 outlaps to get heat into the quali tyres
At 14:55 I wanted Ben to throw on a set of wets. I remember that corner, was a bitch especially with cold tyres. With 5 mins to go they wouldn't warm up, wets would though and could even be faster in those conditions, I remember how they would clamp the rear end in and only cause a little understeer which would give you so much confidence... The race before shows that it happens in Project Cars 2 as well (note: this 'wet tyre' glitch/advantage only works for Formula Rookie cars). I reckon Ben could have taken poll with wet tyres and the 5 remaining minutes he had.
John Smith it's less of a wet tyre glitch and more of a dry tyre glitch because the dries are unrealistically hard to heat. So you're always going to get better grip out of properly heated wets than stone cold dries... they really need to fix this before release.
These project cars 2 videos are painful to watch, I don't mean this in an overly negative way but ben, mate, you have no idea what you're doing. I mean, you increased the tire pressure to get heat faster? come on dude ... less PSI makes the tire heat faster due to increased surface contact with the road ...
Look in the right mirror at 18:57 , the A.i outbreaks himself nearly hitting ben, and goes flying into a half-spin onto the grass and losing 3rd place :D
tomeddie14 ohhh i hate everybody who says this game is shit, including ben. Why does nobody understand that this is the most realistic game you can buy when it comes to driving... and with that comes all the littile things such as track temp, wind, tire temp, tire pressure...
For me, sometimes the way that the game saves the imagery is strange. If I lose a wheel, then restart the race, it will still look like I lost the wheel but the car will act like it has all four wheels. That could be what is happening with your tyres.
everyone complaining about the tyres there's probably a reasonable explanation. Maybe that the textures for slick tyres have glitched and have swapped with the wets. So the wets have dry grip and dry have the wet grip. Remember it is a work in progress so probs just a glitch.
Joe Pinder nope, the wets were warm and so more grip and wets a mostly a softer kind of rubber. Like you have a super soft vs a medium tire on F1 (with the supersoft being the wet tire) and many more reasons i cant axplains as it would take up way too much time for me. You can look it up yourself and in a couple of videos PC2 made it self they explain it perfectly
pieter plof were both wrong mate. Someone pointed it out but the tyres he was on were the all weather ones so basically a street tyre. But yeah probs a soft compound.
SquaredSpekz that is one of the dumbest thing to do, braking and or lifting off in a corner because all the weight is shifting forward so no load on the back all the weight on the front. No grip on the rear all grip on the front, too good of a turn in and tadaaaa you spin. Comon sense🙌🏽
A weird moment of this title seems to be when the car leaves the garage to insert into the pitlane: no visual steering movement at all? What's THAT, Guys?!!? A small false step for the player, a giant wrong leap for the game?? COME ON !!
Look at the tires' temperature. When you start the qualifying session the temperature is quite low and it takes a few laps to increase while in the race the temperature is okay from the start. Try to do a lot of laps without stopping in the qualifying session and you should be golden by the end of the session.
TheMegaBeaver only if you shift down too early and redline the engine. That will cause them to lock of course. If you shift down into optimum or lower rev range it won't affect your rear traction.
He will not finish this career mode
So it will be like every other career mode that isn't the current F1 game.
Probably
Never even gets past about 10 episodes.
especially with f1 2017
Said it in the prev episode, happy that 36 people agree with me xD but all joking aside I hope he finishes it
Tires work exactly the other way 'round. Softer tyres means there's more surface contact area, thus more friction = more grip, more wear.
Lowering the tyre pressures allows more movement in the tyre block, making it easier to heat up, but increasing contact patch
Raising tyre pressures reduces contact patch and heats up quicker to heat up
It's better to soften the tyres, as you get a larger contact patch as well as good tyre heat up
Correct
Thank you LEL
PSR Schumacher yeah I'm surprised he thought it was the other way round to be honest :D
NorfolkBlue thats because he is used to the arcade game F1 2016...
Nice to see the AI aren't world class drivers where they make no mistakes, like in every other racing game.
They're 'all terrain' tyres that they use. You should always put those on for qualifying.
^
If you're having a hard time controlling the rear during corners:
Warm up the tyres (slicks and softer compounds require higher temperatures)
Lower the tyre pressure, with the front higher than the rear
Soften the suspension overall, with the front stiffer than the rear (not too far apart)
Soften the overall slow bump and rebound, with the front stiffer than the rear (not too far apart)
Increase deceleration lock (or viscous lock if the car doesn't use a limited slip differential)
Keep the weight towards the middle of the car (by adding throttle or finishing heavy braking before the turn)
How has Ben got this far in sim racing/gaming and not realize that LOWERING the tire pressures INCREASES the contact patch and thus heat, not the other way around.
All the people saying this game is shit because the wet tires were better its because Ben is running the wrong tire pressures.
I had the same problem and its a visual glitch he was one slicks
this game does visually look really nice, do you enjoy racing the ai or nahh?
AlexZAfRo Hey Zafro
I have subbed to u
Aarava's the better guy to talk to about that. He raced them well in his video.
JakeTV Aarav is bad at racing properly, he focuses on modding and editing (which he does greatly), but there's so many better channels than his in terms of driving...
AlexZAfRo im subbed to you bro

Everytime I see a Notification of Ben, I NEED to watch it. Ur the only UA-camr I have the Notification on! Keep up your vids Ben!
I love this serie so much.
Forget Dirt 4 and finish F1 2006

I'm so hyped for f1 2017
Nord x Dreamy did you mean so or too?
me too
Dam it meant to say so
17:28 - P1 & P2 - "FFS we're the biggest bottlers in formula rookie history"
17:29 - Ben - "Hold my beer"
Snetterton...
*XMattyG flashbacks intensify*

You need a longer gearbox to be faster in straight
longer gearbox??

So hyped for this and f1 2017. This is a good year for racing games
The wet tyres are so good because they're warm... The slicks were cold...
Ben, the word race and Grand Prix are interchangeable!
That thumbnail though!
Looks awesome man
Increasing tire pressure dercreases temps, not the other way around Ben
Snetterton 200... Formula Rookie...
getting PTSD here.
20:42 Look the iRacing guy/tree thing is back :D
I love this series!🏁
love this series
USE THE RACE ENGINEER! just go through the issues you have with the car, rear end locking up under breaking, mid corner loss of traction, tyre heating. AND LOWER THE FUEL LEVEL! other than that great content! :P
For those who are new to this channel when he says purple he means fastest lap he is used to saying purple in F1 2016
Wooooo a new ep!

If you have any problems, check the Race Engineer. Select what you want changed and then it will be changed for you. Simple.
Do your best moments compilation of F1 2016.
Ben, your vids are awesome!!!
19:26, I was watching Top Gear at the same time and somehow Jeremy was spinning a Lambo at the same time as Ben spon out
If I could only say one thing, its that not every race is a Grand Prix. Especially what appears to be a Formula Ford race. I believe it is just referred to, as a race.

16:05 the reverse XMattyG from China xD
Oh god. Ben is getting absolutely spit roasted down here god damn.
AI at 21:42 was facing the wall and suddenly auto corrected itself. That should have been a spin out

"YOU CANT FUCKING DRIVE!"
~ Mathew "Xmattyg1" Gallagher, 2015
never seen so many james mays in one race. Cheers to captain slow.
Australian with a Dutch team mate, love it
When codemasters upload a video but u don't watch it because u wait until Ben uploads a video about it
At 18:03 just look at this tree its like cheering for them xD
Bring back this series!
That top speed glitch is something I’m experiencing too, even in indycars it will sometimes even lift or break without me doing something
"I can't believe these tyres work better in the right conditions!"
your vids are sick
At 14:55 I wanted Ben to throw on a set of wets. I remember that corner, was a bitch especially with cold tyres. More pressure means more slide which gives more heat
Thanks for the gameplay. Game looks great, cant' wait until it is available for purchase. And nothing wrong with a couple of restarts!! Cheers.
Car feels better in race cause the tires are hot
Lower tyre pressures make the tyres warm up faster due to a higher rolling resistance
It seems the curb is more slick when the rain comes out? If so, cool.
Look in the right mirror at 18:57 , the A.i outbreaks himself nearly hitting ben, and goes flying into a half-spin onto the grass and losing 3rd place :D
CONGRATS ON 230k SUBS (I'm one of them)
I love how any engineer In any racing game is now called Jeff #ripjeff 2015-2016
yep even on 2011 career he dared to say jeff when at the beggining the engineer comes at you "hey this is andy knight ur race engineer"
8:18 Raikönnen Mode engaged! :D
You have such beautifull racing lines. Such an amazing understanding of the car.
Does it pain anyone else with how dumb Ben is?😂
tomeddie14 ohhh i hate everybody who says this game is shit, including ben. Why does nobody understand that this is the most realistic game you can buy when it comes to driving... and with that comes all the littile things such as track temp, wind, tire temp, tire pressure...
pieter plof mate... he didn't even know he was on Wets 😂 that's why I called him dumb
I thought he said "the wets on the dry is better" in 9:00 or something
dannyx27 how is gt better?
dannyx27 it's just a joke fml 😒
I have one thing I want to say to you guys who already say it's the shittiest game ever: IT'S A FREAKIN' PREVIEW BUILD!
Axel Löfgren and ben doesnt do it justice because he is shit with a simulation game
Those tires should be dying on dry track. I really wonder why is rFactor 2 a game with best tire physics on the market atm
7:36 it's because vou've had much higher tire pressure in the first episode and your tires were colder as I saw (correct me if I'm wrong)
For me, sometimes the way that the game saves the imagery is strange. If I lose a wheel, then restart the race, it will still look like I lost the wheel but the car will act like it has all four wheels. That could be what is happening with your tyres.
18:56 Look behind you xD
Haha 18:55 the car behind Ben spins out
Gear ratios was probably why you topped out at 100mph
everyone complaining about the tyres there's probably a reasonable explanation. Maybe that the textures for slick tyres have glitched and have swapped with the wets. So the wets have dry grip and dry have the wet grip. Remember it is a work in progress so probs just a glitch.

pieter plof were both wrong mate. Someone pointed it out but the tyres he was on were the all weather ones so basically a street tyre. But yeah probs a soft compound.
wow. this was hilarious. XD
The physics are right here, it's possible to lose grip when letting off.
Ben, I think the fuel level makes for a more stable car in the race. It's way higher than in qualy.
Jake paul dabs on the haters but ben dabs on the brake
memories of xMattyG's rage videos of the SHNETTERTONN GRAND PRICKS coming up😍😂😂 What a pity he is at WTF1...
The reason your better in race trim is because the tyres are heated up for you! In quali they start cold
That's not how the tyre pressures work, there is a sweet spot you need to find
A weird moment of this title seems to be when the car leaves the garage to insert into the pitlane: no visual steering movement at all? What's THAT, Guys?!!? A small false step for the player, a giant wrong leap for the game?? COME ON !!
its formula rookie the default tyre is all terrain, slicks are faster but go off quicker so its like running a medium tyre against a soft
Look at the tires' temperature. When you start the qualifying session the temperature is quite low and it takes a few laps to increase while in the race the temperature is okay from the start. Try to do a lot of laps without stopping in the qualifying session and you should be golden by the end of the session.
Im no expert but im fairly certain it is really easy to lose the back end when you downshift while turning.
TheMegaBeaver only if you shift down too early and redline the engine. That will cause them to lock of course. If you shift down into optimum or lower rev range it won't affect your rear traction.
Gotcha, like I said, I'm no expert but I knew something along those lines would cause you to lose rear traction. Thanks for the clarification
That orange and purple car is your rival. He keeps blocking you and crashing into you
That's the "all terrain" tire and I'm no expert on formula rookie series, but I think that might be the "quali" tire
Verry Go0o0o0o0o0o0oD man
if you want your tyres to get into the working range quicker increase the pressures
Lower the amount of fuel that will help
Is project cars worth buying ?
Ben the tyres used in this series should be all terrain tyres not slicks. The car is too slow to get any heat
You want to lower the tire pressure to get heat in them
I'd love to see some indy car content from this game. It might be one of its few selling points to be honest.
in race you start with warm tires
And like that we're back on the podium, in 4th, I doubt it lol
