The Toneman Is Back!! Incredible video!!!
Gorgeous fish, turtles and reef. Keep Em Coming. 😀
Thanks Rhett! 😁
So beautiful and yes Navarre beach is gorgeous! Great vid 🌞
Thanks so much! 😁
Thank you for this! I’ve been living in Destin for two years, and often drive through Navarre and have never heard of this! Gonna head there as soon as next week!
Welcome! That's awesome. Let me know what you think. 😁👍
Thank you ToneMan. My husband and I are driving from Texas July 4th weekend, in order to go snorkeling. He's never been. I can't wait for him to see this!
Welcome! I hope you all have a great time. 😁👍
This is wonderful. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video. 😁👍
And it used to be a favorite spot for naturists. That ended when the builders of those ugly high rise condos took over and paved paradise.
Unfortunately.... but still a bit more natural than Pensacola Beach or Destin. But for how long? 😔
Thank you for this great and informative video.
Welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. 😁
Thank you for doing this video! This will be our 5th year coming and I didn't know about it. I always wondered where those structures were. Definitely a to do this summer!
You're welcome. Glad you liked the video and feel free to let me know if you have any questions. 🙂
Love this video!!
Thanks Will!
Found your channel! Exciting! Thank you
That's great! I hope you enjoy my snorkeling videos. 😁
Thanks for sharing 👍
You're welcome! Glad you liked the video 😃
How peaceful
Absolutely 💯 😌
Very nice thank you👍
Welcome! Glad you liked it. 😁
Beautiful
It really is 😁
Another fantastic video! Don't know why I've never snorkeled Navarre but will as soon as it warms up. If you ever decide to snorkel Navarre again or Pensacola, let me know and I'll be there. Had plans in each of the last two years to dive with the great whites again but Covid blocked it. Need to get back in the water.
Thanks Bill! Oh yeah... would be great to meet up. 🙂👍
wow! never knew we had this, definitely checking it out soon :))
It's great 👍
Wow this is so cool! That water is beautiful! 🙋💗
Thank you. Yes... It's wonderful 😊.
Where is Nemo?
You've uped your game
Man! I appreciate that so much. 😁👍
Man I wish I could move back there again
I feel for you. I couldn't imagine moving back to Texas after living here on the Gulf Coast for 15 years.
Navarre is packed everyday. Back to back traffic for miles.
Get there early 😁👍
@@thetoneman Is 8 am early enough?
@@trust5650 yes, 8AM is fine
Great video! Are there months when the water has better clarity? Thanks!
Thanks very much! The water clarity is most dependent on the weather. If there is a long stretch of good weather and conditions are calm (5mph wind) when you snorkel you have the best chance for great water clarity. In the Summer months there may be times you will have to deal with algae in the water.
yes beautiful clear water and some marine life as well these reefs look to be manmade how is the boat traffic that far from shore?
No issues with boat traffic.
Your videos convinced me that snorkeling in FL will be fun! How deep is the reef area and was this video taken during high ir low tide?
That's great 😁👍The reef depth is about 10-12 feet and this was during hightide.
Thanks again for another great video. Do you see many divers in this area? Any suggestions on other shore dive sites in this area?
Thanks so much! Yes, we see lots of divers here and at the artificial reefs in Pensacola Beach, Destin, and Panama City Beach. Other than the jetties and reefs, I'm not sure of other dive sites.
@@thetoneman I sure appreciate you making these videos and sharing them with us.
I went there yesterday to go snorkeling and came back after 10 minutes because there were a lot of jellyfish. I got stung by a nettle fish on the way back in from about only 30 yards out. How can I snorkel there without getting stung?
Well, it is difficult to determine the weather/water conditions in advance or dangerous sea life like jellyfish but you will probably have fewer jellyfish early in the Summer. There have been large jellyfish blooms the past few years due to weather and sea temperatures around mid to end of summer. You can check "Navarre Beach Lifeguards" on Facebook and they have shown Purple flags lately and tons of jellyfish in the area.
Thanks for sharing this, but why isnt there any plant life growing on the artificial reefs??? Coral is so beautiful and it would draw more sealife to the artificial systems.
Thanks! The growth can vary, and there are more corals now than when this video was made. Each time I visit any of the local reefs, they look different and it is exciting wondering what I'll see 👀 😁👍📷🤿🪸🐬🐟🐠🐡🦈🐙🦀🦐🐚🪼
ggreat -
Thanks! 😁
How deep does it get? Are the artificial reefs in shallow enough water that kids can explore but still stand while touching the bottom?
The reef is over 300ft from shore just past the second sand bar. The water can be between 10 to 15 feet, depending on the tide.
When did you go? Looks amazing!
This was from August last year. Can't wait to go back. 😁
@@thetoneman Thanks for your channel! I appreciate you sharing the wonders of the Panhandle. I'm about 1 mile from St. Andrews State park, and love your videos on that area too. I will definitely check out Navarre. I didn't know about this reef!
@@kytoga thank you very much. That means alot and your support is appreciated. I wish I lived closer to PCB. 😁
@@thetoneman And I've shared your channel a lot! I really like how you identify the fish. Keep it up!
What time of year is the best to snorkel there?
Spring/Early to mid Summer seem to be best. A stretch of good weather, low winds for the best water clarity.
When is the best time of year to experience this? Thanks
Late spring and early summer months tend to be best. 😁
How cold is the water in October please?
The water temperature was 81° today. www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Navarre-Beach-Pier/seatemp
Thank you! @@thetoneman
What time of year was this?
This was spring of last year.
What was the average depths here.
Anywhere from 10 to 15 feet, depending on the tide.
Is a dive flag required for snorkeling on the reef?
Florida regulations require use of a dive flag except for certain areas specifically disgnated for swimmers/snorkelers. Not sure if the reef applies and it is not stated on the website. navarrebeachmarinesanctuary.org/
How deep is the Reef?
9 to 15 feet, depending on the tide. 😀👍
Can you still go snorkeling in October ??
Yes, the water will still be warm enough. 😁👍
How deep does it get ?
Hey there! It can be anywhere between 10-15 feet, depending on the tide.
can you spearfish this spot?
I don't believe you can spearfish here due to it being a designated scuba/snorkeling artificial reef, but you can check with the city of Navarre Beach.
where can you find lobsters?
South Florida is best for finding lobsters... Jupiter, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and the Keys. 🦞😁
i was there is was eww sea grass all over the places me wifey did swim in it
Oh yea, it's been bad lately.
The rip tide is awful there are very few days a year that the waves aren't brutal
I snorkel there often and not my experience. I see plenty of days with calm water. It's one of my favorite beaches. 😁👍
@@thetoneman we are there from mid sept thru early December
shark infested waters?
Well, I'm not sure invested is the right word.... it's their habitat, so it's not out of the question, but most sharks are leary of humans, so you often don't know how close they are. For instance, I've seen sharks kayaking but have yet to see a shark snorkeling. 😁👍🦈
No dive flags anywhere, even when snorkeling you need a dive flag for safety as a minimum.
You are correct. Sometimes there are several dive flags already deployed. I have a new dive flag that I'll be using. 😁👍
Heading to Navarre in July. Is the snorkeling still amazing? Also is it close enough to the shore for an 8 year old to snorkel with dad?
Snorkeling is great spring, summer, and early fall, but the water clarity can vary depending on the weather and levels of algae. I wouldn't recommend this reef for small children since the Gulf side reef is over 300' from shore, and water depth can range from 10' to 15' depending on the tide. You will need a diver down flag, and I highly recommend life jackets or snorkeling vests and other floatation devices for added safety.
Silly question, but do you see a lot of sharks when snorkeling there?
Hey there... not silly at all. I've not seen any snorkeling, but I suspect they're out there and just keeping thier distance. I've also seen sharks with my drone at many of the local beaches.
@@thetoneman thanks for the reply!
