I can’t believe how clear and calm the water is there compared to the Atlantic side. We are planning a trip there right now and we can’t wait! Thanks for getting us more pumped for Destin. 👏 👏
That's so cool! I love seeing new sea life I hadn't seen before. I saw my first rosy razorfish at the Destin East Pass Jetty ua-cam.com/video/0ADQQnv3Tj4/v-deo.html
You're in for a treat! Keep in mind that peak high tide is 10:46AM today... so after that time the water will start to get murky as the tide goes out (low tide). Best time to snorkel is two hours prior to peak high tide.. Here's a tide chart tides4fishing.com/us/florida-west-coast/destin
I beg someone to answer my question, as I will be driving from Texas to this beautiful paradise. At 1:59, I see a few inlets in the beach with places to swim inside ropes. Please tell if that is acessible to the public? Or is it limited to hotel guests only?
This area is called Norriego Point and is open to the public. You just have to pay for parking. $5 to park for 5 hours. There is a Google Maps link in the description that you can use to navigate to this location.
Nice‼️👍 yep, I get there early for the best parking. They're supposed to be adding more parking, bathrooms, pavillion and boardwalks eventually. Sounds like you had a great time 😁
Thanks for this video! We are planning to be up in the area after Thanksgiving, we want to do crab island and now seeing you video some snorkeling! We are equipped with paddle boards. Any other tips??
I just saw your wonderful video. I’ve never been to Destin. Where can I get more information? Is the place where you are snorkeling accesible by car? Is it close to hotels? Would like to plan a trip there for a few days this Summer. Can you recommend a place to stay and any tip on the crab sandbar tours? Any help greatly appreciated. By the way the little gal did a great job. Precious!
Thanks! It's not near hotels but you can drive there. There is a Google Maps link in the description. I would recommend joining "Let's Talk Destin" Facebook group to get more detailed formation on hotels, excursions etc. 😁👍
I'm here right now! Staying in the emerald grande. Went to one of the coves on that little island with all the coves and saw a few fish. Is that where you saw the turtles or do you have to go out past the roped off part?!
Awesome! I've seen turtles in the swimming areas but mostly see them along the jetties outside the marked swimming areas along with more variety of fish. Be very careful of the currents they can be very strong.
We went last year after seeing this video. Yes we swam along the rock wall outside the roped off swim area and we swam to the next swim inlet and saw a bunch more. The current started getting strong at the end. I think it is recommended to do it at high tide. I think the current is not as strong then. It was cool. Not for little kids. Want to be good swimmers.
The general rule is two hours prior to peak high tide. So yesterday peak high tide was at 9:17 AM. You were there during low tide. Here's a chart to check the tides tides4fishing.com/us/florida-west-coast/destin
Very good video friend, the impressive truth, I wanted to ask you a question since I see that you go to Destin very often I just took a vacation I go from September 30 to October 4 at that time the beach there in the jettys will be clear? ? to dive or it is getting dark and cloudy thank you very much
The average water temperature in Destin for March is 63 degrees. That is too cold for some, but depends on your cold tolerance. If you can stand the cool water then you can absolutely snorkel in March... I have on occasion. You don't need a boat as some of the best snorkeling in Destin can be had right off the beach at the East Pass jetty and Norriego Point. I have other videos in Destin to give you some idea. Have fun! 😁👍
Great video! I've been going to Destin all my life, but never been snorkeling there. How do I get to this location? I know about where it is, but not exactly. I usually keep to the Old 98 area for the most part.
another great video! not sure I've ever seen so many tourists there before. I'll bet driving the blvd at night is a trick. How many Happy Meals does that spokesperson cost ya? 😁
Hi, we saw your videos and are planning to snorkel at noriego point v soon. Is this footage taken right outside the swimming area? Where exactly do you recommend swimming to see this fauna?
Thanks for watching. Yes, most of the footage is from the jetties that surround Norriego Point. Be careful and watch the current as it can be very strong and I wouldn't recommend going beyond the marked swimming area unless your are a strong experienced swimmer. If you do I find it best to stay close to the rocks where it is easier to swim. Have a great time! 😁
In Destin... Norriego Point and the East Pass Jetty. Also, Fort Walton and Navarre Beach have wonderful artificial reefs. I have videos of each of these places with directions in the descriptions. Let me know if you have any other questions. 😁👍
Great Video! Thank you!! I love that you put the addresses. It makes planning easier. So do you park at the address shown above then the snorkel spot is near there? This address: 100 Gulf Shore Dr, Destin, FL 32541. Thanks so much for your response.
Thanks! The address is actually for the last condos on the left, but the Norriego Point parking lot will be directly in front of you at the end of Gulf Shore Dr. You can also park all along Gulf Shore Dr. on your right starting at Osteen Beach Public Access. Once you park, just walk straight ahead towards the beach areas. Currently, there is construction in the area, and the parking lot is closed, and you have to walk to the left of the parking lot to get to the beaches.
Thanks! I'm always cautious but haven't seen a shark while snorkeling in Destin. I'm sure they are out there somewhere. I usually stay close to the jetty rocks while snorkeling so I can make my escape 🤣😳🦈
Thanks very much! I try to snorkel about two hours prior to high tide. You have great tides next week. Enjoy! tides4fishing.com/us/florida-west-coast/destin
If a little girl isn’t afraid to go out there with all those sea creatures, I should give it a try. I’m only here for a few days. They said it’s gonna storm tomorrow.
New sub here, we live in the area and have been looking for a good place to go snorkeling to go check it out and vlog for our channel too. Thank you so much for sharing, we love your channel and videos. Can't wait for more videos
@@TheMartfam both Norriego Point and East Pass jetty have shallow swimming areas for kids. If you venture out beyond the swimming areas you will start to feel the currents. You must be an experienced swimmer/snorkeler to contend with the current. I tend to stay near the jetty rocks where the current is less. You are more likely to see a sea turtle at Norriego Point in my experience... not to say you wouldn't see them at the East Pass jetty but they may be deeper and harder to see. In this video the first sea turtle was just beyond the swimming rope at the second swimming area at Norriego Point and the second sea turtle was actually inside the first swimming area. With lots of luck you will see a see turtle or even a friendly manatee. 😁👍
Right, you have to be mindful and careful of the currents. The current can vary depending on the time of day and the tide. You must be a strong swimmer, and I suggest using life jackets/snorkeling vests.
The clarity and quality of this video is amazing and the editing is spot on!

Thank you so much for having that disclaimer in your description on the currents. They’ve been pretty intense. Stay safe guys, loving the turtles!!
Thanks Jamie! Yes, those currents can be very strong and dangerous if you're not an experienced swimmer/snorkeler. Love the Destin sea turtles 🥰
Just left Destin, it was amazing
Yes! Isn't it wonderful? I'm glad you had a great time. 😁
Great clarity! Thanks for labelling things :D

Oh yea! This was a great day 😁

I love these videos. I just visited Santa Rosa and went snorkeling. It was a great experience and a lot of wildlife!
Thank you. I'm glad you had a great experience.
We will be visiting Miramar beach. Where is the best snorkeling spot in the panhandle?
Those reef projects are working!! I lived in Palm Beach and never saw this kind of biodiversity!
Yes, extremely happy they have worked this restoration project. Still more to come. 😁
Dude awesome drone footage! I had no idea they created all these new coves and jetties. I haven't been in years, definitely overdue
Hey AJ! Thanks... been awhile.. you definitely need to check it out now. 😁👍
Toneman I loved it! Great video.. or would you call that a short film??
Thanks Kev! Love ya buddy. You can call it whatever you want. 😁👍

How do you access norriego point? Only by boat?
You can drive there, park, and walk over to the beach. There is a Google Maps link in the video description 😁👍
