I appreciate you acknowledging the extra costs. Far too many videos leave out that detail. They say “25¢ for an egg” but leave out that up front cost of buying a dozen eggs.
Well, I'm not particularly sure about Gandalf, but my presumption would be that the "average" cat (one of which Gandalf most certainly is not!) would go for yellowfin tuna (hence a more expensive version), if it would be an option. 😉
If you want to make smoked pork ramen, I would suggest to use a drip pan to collect all smoke drippings. combined with having the marinade in the drip pan, you will get HEAVENLY GOODNESS. after putting it in a container let it sit for a few hours so all the spices have set at the bottom, then poor off the top layer in a different container you use for broth/sauce
@@CHEFPKR I can already verify that using Smoked marinade liquid, adds a large kick to noodles. Tried making some and it tasted amazing. It may be overpowering for some, but if you like a strong smoke flavor, then its highly recommended.
only 1:30 into the video so far but i love that you just go ahead and actual mention the buy prices and how they are split up for each portion. Most people i see doing these kind of videos just mention what goes in which is a bit bothersome to me personally.
This shows the best thing about instant ramen, it's all in how you make it and what you add to it. You can keep it cheap and easy or turn it into restaurant quality.
This is a great idea. Its so exhausting to see other content creators make stunt based foods. Like of course the Wagyu beef is going to taste great but the skill in cooking isn't displayed such as your video. Love your stuff PK keep it rocking!
The Mama brand is one of top three instant noodle brand in Thailand. People here usually buy the Tom Yum flavour. They are loaded with MSG though. When I cooked the instant noodles, I usually mixed two flavours, add mushroom, raw eggs, and some kind of veggies. Definitely not 1$
MSG isn’t bad that kind of just started as an anti-Asian rumour in the west obviously you need to eat it in moderation but it’s the same with regular sodium msg is just mono sodium
@@mius.cereal MSG is locally thought of, at least in Bangkok, that constant consumption of it would lead to hair loss. It wasn't until several years ago that I realized this was a localized believes. Since there was no mentioning of this online in English.
MSG really helps with lowering the sodium intake funny enough, salt is nice but for people who can't have a lot of sodium MSG can be a life and tastebud saver.@@mius.cereal
I havent had pork ramen in so long, got me wanting to try again. These looked great though. I'm always trying to do something with my instant ramen too, and you given me some good ideas to try!
Interesting touch with the mayo. Personally, what I do with my instant ramen is pretty weird cause I use Hummus like you did mayo. Mama ramen is AMAZING. When Im in the mood, I get that add some sliced sausage, diced cheese & wakame seaweed. I have no idea how I found it, but years ago, I came across dried wakame seaweed on amazon. 500g bag for around 11£. The bag is huge & lasts me probably a whole year while using it for near everything. Pimping up ramen. Extra touch to stir fries. Its SO GOOD
As a person who sells food on the side if you saw my spreadsheets you would be blown away at the amount of work I've put into just calculating every single little thing. I have not only my clientele list and what they order I have my price page which allows me to at any point go look up an item and change the price. And then it will change it for all the recipes that use that item I have all my recipes sorted out by types so side dishes main dishes desserts drinks sauces Etc. And then any breakfast items dinner items lunch items that might fit differently in that listing have their own page as well along with possible future products that I would like to make such as a lot of the infused oils and Butters and stuff that I've always wanted to make just not profitable for me to do. I have full cost evaluations breaking down how much it cost to make the entire batch and how much I should charge along with that each individual dish on its own . I put forth so much work to make sure that I can always do my best when it comes to the pricing of stuff but sadly I hate currently only have two people that order food from me and trying to make the smaller batches so that I'm not losing money because I don't eat what I sell cuz I can't afford it for the most part I mean I usually eat some Ramen soup with an egg and maybe a piece of like chicken so you know making a meal that costs $10 to sell and I might make five off of it it is more than I can afford especially now that work is cut me down to 16 hours making only $9 an hour very rough to figure out how I'm going to live but I'll figure something out
$10-12... I wish lmao. When I was working in Airzona, you're on the money with those prices. Back home in St. Pete, Florida? only like 2 ramen spots and they KNOW that, so their cheapest bowl starts at around 18 bucks
Simply for personal preference, rather than using instant ramen for the $10 option, I would recommend frozen ramen, which usually has better noodles and broth, and then maybe replacing the meat for veggies Still, very cool to see these recipes as alternatives!
If you want a little bit more out of your cheap ramen, consider a block of miso. At least where I am, I can get a block for $5. However, that block will have enough for like 50 bowls of ramen, so $0.05 per serving. And it'll stay good for a year as long as you keep it in the fridge, so not much risk of waste.
If I may suggest when it comes to cheap romen packs boil it first then drain of the water because the noodles are fried in oil and dehydrated for packing the so wash then in cold water then add fresh water and reheat
So I feel like what we learned is a two-dollar Ramen the probably as good as a 10-dollar Ramen. Like you get the extra noodles and you get the second egg half. You know maybe maybe a little bit more since you'd have like what 40 more cents to spend on something
Ugh I hate that egg prices have skyrocketed due to the bird flu outbreak since they are a staple in my diet. But yeah I remember people would get mad at Joshua Wiessman for saying the prices and people didn't understand it's what you're using for a serving size lol. So that opening explanation I realize was needed. Pork shoulder is almost always on sale or at a good price so I love that substitute. I love ramen and have it all the time, those eggs looked amazing! I'm usually too lazy to wait for eggs to marinate though lol. I really should just mass make them like you did and keep them for use.
I have become infatuated with making ramen lately. I have spent so much money on ingredients and even a pasta maker. Ramen is one of the rare things that people should really just go out for. You will save money.
I didn’t notice until now, but did you peel the eggs before topping with the sauce? I wasn’t getting the same coloration on my eggs that you did and I’m wondering if this is why.
@@CHEFPKR cool yeah even after 24 hrs with shell on not much penetrates through. Additionally, I can confirm the sauce works very good with the Buldak carbonara ramen and gives a spicy pork version.
Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at screen meme: Hey, this is kinda like those food pics I sent you of my budget shrimp alfredo using Instant Shrimp Ramen, Alfredo sauce, and popcorn shrimp! Kinda. But hey, you reminded me of something that I found pretty fun.
I snagged a dozen eggs for $3, so about 36 cents for a whole egg. Half the egg is about 20 cents. Still gotta spend a lot to make them though! Eggs + marinade
