Hi Lucy, I'm a Brit teaching English in Poland and almost all my students below C1 level reply 'Me too!' to both positive and negative statements. I always correct this when it is in response to a negative statement and in addition to 'Neither do I' I also suggest that they can use 'Nor do I'. You don't mention 'Nor' at all in this lesson so I would be very interested in your take on this. Thanks in advance.

Yes, about the 'nor'. I understand the rule that 'nor' is used after 'neither' in two negative clauses, where 'nor' is used as a conjunction. But I can't see why 'nor' can't be used on its own. 'Neither' is not a word that appeals to me. Have I've been making a gaffe all these years? Robert, uk
