The only regret is that you left the one from when you found two burned cars two videos ago. You can also write on the back that this was the third & last car you found that day!
I don't know if you are interested, or if it's still there, but. In the mid-80s my friend was driving his Datsun 240Z too fast up El Cariso Rd (I think, it was a long time ago) off the Ortega Hwy and we went flying off the side a few miles up the road. My elbow broke the window, and my arm extended out the window from the force of us spinning. Jesus sent an Angel and he grabbed both my wrists and put my hands firmly against the roof and said, 'PUSH'. We rolled down the embankment a hundred or so feet and ended up on the roof. I was hanging from the seat-belt and was on the downward-side, which was blocked by brush. My friend had to help me unbuckle, since it had tighten down somehow. We both scrambled up the embankment using our hands as well, since it was so steep. We had to walk all the way back to the Ortega Hwy and didn't see a soul, then to town. Other than a piece of glass in my elbow where I broke the glass, neither one of us had a scratch. I guess God was not done with me yet.

3. car is an early Opel Kadett, perhaps 1965 - 1967 because of the full metal grille with the indicators build in. Front axle and bumper ( and other things) are different from the Opel Ascona so I guess I`m right with that. For those who never heard about Opel: Opel is a german car manufactor ( town Rüsselsheim); first car built in 1896. 1930 Opel was sold to General Motors but stayed an independent company with own car-models. GM sold Opel 2017 to french PSA-group (Citroen; Talbot etc.), today known as Stellantis after merging with Fiat/Chrysler
Last car either a Kadett '67 - '71 or possibly an early 70s Ascona. Clues include round headlights (not rectangular) and OPEL in front grille (most Opels in this time period bore both the OPEL script and the lightning bolt logo to satisfy the marketing people during the brand's transition). The transverse leaf spring in front suggests a sports car variant, which favors the Kadett.
I had a 1977, 1979 model Opel Ascona S. When I was in Germany 🇩🇪 (Army Station). Miss that little car 🚗! Wish I could have brought it back home to the States!

Based on the rack and pinion steering assembly, I knew that last car wasn't an american made car of the time. It is also not an Opel Kadett, as my sister and I each owned ones back in the day. Latter models of the Kadett did have the turn signal lamps in the grill; however, I'm not seeing where the grill trim carries on past the headlight and wraps around a bit of the fender. Hmmm . . . 🤔

Don't feel guilty about the opel hubcap that car is in nature nobody owns it anymore the car is junk and you did the right thing taking a part (hubcap) as a soveneer you should do that with other cars of interest you find take a piece of trim a hubcap name plate as a soveneer cause if you don't the next hiker explorer will and don't feel bad the cars you find are junk abandoned and belong to nobody anymore
That last Opel is an Ascona "A" , & it must be a really early one to have a dynamo rather than an alternator (I didn't even know they did them with a dynamo!). The first one reminds me of both the 80`s Ford Escort, the Chevy Chevette & the Mitsubishi Colt, but its none of them with that little 1" ledge on the hatch.. The large 4 stud wheel pattern & wheel design looks Japanese to me, but could be one of these 80`s Japan/American collaborations...
Hi mario,I hope you're okay,I wonder what to you,you haven't posted any new content lately I just hope you and your family are okay, happy thanksgiving!!
I tried filming twice recently and couldn’t make it to the vehicles due to rugged terrain. I’m trying to film this weekend but I am not 100 percent sure? Thanks for looking out for me I really appreciate it!
No, for a few reasons: 1) it has four lugs, X body cars had five, 2) Chevettes had parking lights in the front bumper and you can make out the cutouts for them, X body cars had them over the bumper, 3) there is a floor tunnel, indicating a RWD car. The X body cars were FWD.
@@googleusergpyou’re right, as usual! Also I just noticed what looks like a parking brake lever in the center console area. Those GM “X” bodies used a parking brake pedal setup not a console mounted lever. However, I do think that Opel Kadett is a 1967 due to the location of the turn signal lenses in the old style metal grille. What I find odd is the presence of what appears to be a charcoal canister in the engine compartment, which I didn’t think they were using yet.
An interesting 'geology-related' thing is at the front of that old truck (vehicle #2). There is a huge granite boulder with a different, older, granite-rock protruding out of it. Kind of rare that a person ever sees that! You actually put your left-foot on that protruding rock at the 23:53 mark. Not trying to bore everyone with how that got there, but basically, I think, is this...the granite boulders are what is left of what was once a gigantic pool of molten magma under an even more gigantic ancient volcano. Anyway, as the molten magma comes up through the earth's crust, it breaks of pieces of rocks and rock-layers that mixes in to the hot stuff. The rocks mixed in are called, 'Clasps'. So then what happens is, the gigantic ancient volcano goes inactive and the huge magma chamber beneath it slowly cools to form a massive giant amount of Granite...all of which has eroded away to the peaks and boulders now known as the Santa Ana Mountains (and also the San Jacinto Mnts and Sierra-Nevada Mtns, etc for that matter). So anyway, the rock by your boot, sticking out of the boulder is a much older rock than the boulder itself and it is much Harder, than granite surrounding it. So it doesn't erode quite as fast...which makes it stand out and be more visible. Ok...I might not be completely right about all of it. But it mightbe interesting to someone besides me.
Yes! If you can stomach to do so...please check out any big black trash bags if there is anything really heavy and solid in them with the smell of decay. Tear a little hole in it to check it out. It would be a public service to the Rangers and local law enforcement. Or maybe even better yet...mark the spot on the highway with some of your flagging, and just report it at either the El Cariso or San Juan Ranger Stations, and one of the L.E. Rangers can check it out later.Bodies are sometimes disposed of that way these days. That area, in fact, was a favorite dumping ground in the late 60's and early 70's of a serial killer from Riverside County, and unfortunately many of his victims were young children whose bodies could fit in a trashbag. They infamously nicknamed him 'The Trashbag Killer', of course. Riverside Sheriff's Deputies arrested him in 1977, and he is still alive and in prison. Down on the Orange County part of the Ortega Hwy we were always finding the bodies of serial murder victims also...along with many suicides found in or near cars parked in turnouts. We dealt with that kind of thing constantly in all the years I worked there.
Is that little burnt car a Chevy Chevette? It looks to be rear wheel drive, but also looks to have Honda wheels on it, like the late 70's into the 80's Accord? Unless I don't remember what Chevette wheels look like....
I don't think you're going to go to hell for stealing a hubcap. I think you're safe! If the car was sitting in someone's driveway, then it might be considered stealing. But not when it's been crashed on the side of a cliff for decades. I've picked up hubcaps off the side of the road before. My two favorite ones that I found on the side of the road was off of a Ford Crown Victoria and a Dodge Caravan. Those two I will never get rid of! lol. The Junkman was a movie made by H.B. Halicki. He was known as "The car crash king" I believe. He made the original Gone in 60 seconds where he bought 400 cars just to wreck for the movie. He also made The Junkman, Deadline Auto Theft, and Gone in Sixty Seconds 2, where he unfortunately was killed while filming a scene for the movie. But if you love seeing cars getting wrecked, his movies are the ones to watch. I have all 4. I've notice that you have been solo for your last few videos. Do your partners (Joel I think? and the one who is a miner? Glasses and a beard? I can't remember his name) not go with you anymore?
I sometimes go alone because it’s so peaceful. There are times where I go spontaneously and and I didn’t warn Joel or James about the trip. I appreciate the comment! It was really interesting!
You've earned this hubcap. I would have taken it too. This is your trophy!

So true!

Thanks!
Good videos, thanks
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the info! I like to here everyones opinion.
Love me a talking kitty. Pĺease leave cat at home. Thanks. Great videos.
Thanks!
Great video, 🎉by the way. Do you EVER rest!?
Yea! Some days I don’t work. And some days I work morning till night.. I am self employed and make my own hours.
Volkswagon??....diff angle looks diff. Awesome. Never heard of it.
What hubcap has a lightening bolt like that was it an Opal. I cant remember.
I believe it’s the factory cap!
@@reverserockettv007 yea its a Opal cadet
I think that first car is a 2 door GM “X” car (Chevy Citation, Pontiac Phoenix etc). If so, that’s the best possible place for it.
🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
@@mjg263 He's out in CA, so they may have started using them earlier as this could have been a CA destined/spec/compliant vehicle.
Its a Chevette
Wow! Very interesting honestly!! I appreciate the detailed info as well!
Vintage Opel Ford Truck Lightning Bolt/Gear Hubcap nice
Wow! Interesting story!!
First car might be a Chevy Citation. Second 2wd Ford pickup or Ranger Third possibly an Opel Kadett? Hubcap. Finders keepers as far as I'm concerned 😁
I thought so too, but I spot four lug nuts and I believe the Citation had five.
Thanks!
67 to 72 Buick Opel is what those hub caps fit
Thanks!
Definitely an 80s Chevy Chevette
Thanks!
opel kadett 68 through 70
Thanks!
Have you ever Been to Vasqez Rocks area to Hike??...lots movies filmed there especially old star trek
Is that what they call the pentacles? I been to something similar near trona ca.
@@reverserockettv007 Its in Agau Dulce ,California....Historic star trek film site from the late 60's
Lots of places to Hike there
@youtubefilmvisionary67 O ok cool! I will look into that!
Is that little burnt car a Chevy Chevette? It looks to be rear wheel drive, but also looks to have Honda wheels on it, like the late 70's into the 80's Accord? Unless I don't remember what Chevette wheels look like....
Yea! It’s a chevette! Your correct!
