WORKERS & RESOURCES SOVIET REPUBLIC | DESERT BIOME - EP08 Realistic Mode (City Builder Lets Play)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 гру 2024
- We're diving back into Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic as it launches into 1.0, playing in Realistic Mode difficulty, looking to establish a glorious nation in the barren lands of the Desert Biome! In this let's play, we'll showcase gameplay of what, in my opinion, is one of the best modern city builders of all time. Playing in Realistic Mode really ramps up the difficulty and shows the depth of the game - the economic simulation, the complexity of construction, and the number of considerations to take in mind turn this city-building game into so much more - a nation-builder. With the Biomes DLC, we have access to three unique biomes, and our (first of many?) let's play will showcase Desert gameplay, providing tips and tricks on how to start in the desert, and copious examples showing what not to do too, I'm sure.

Had to fix some urgent infrastructure issues this episode... but now we're poised for massive growth!
Asphalt paved streets being fully illuminated, trams, trolleybuses and housing for everyone sound great.
But you know what would show the might of the republic? Planting trees and making green parks in the desert! >:D
I think you can only plant trees and fields at the oases. This biome has a new feature visible as green on the minimap and showing how much water is in the soil. No water, not much growing things. And I doubt you can irrigate land to improve it.
Watch out, Party -- The big water well needs workers to operate. The small one doesn't. Don't know how that works in-universe, but it just does.
I'm assuming the proletariat simply draws as needed.
To my knowledge, leaving a load/unload category checked while unchecking all goods means that the vehicles will move *any and all* goods, not none. I've ended up with random storage full of useless uranium oxide and the like that way.
Nice to see a good city builder that focuses on the details. City painting is nice and relaxing but sometimes you just want something a bit more engaging. Happy to see you playing it and I will most likely get this soon after seeing how in the weeds it is thanks to you.
Such a great let’s play. I love how detailed you get when you talk about the stuff you do. So little seems to change in that series but if you look closely it‘s a lot. Pls more!
id say change the brick factory settings such that the threshold for buying briks is lower then the one for selling so that if you are at 205 capacity and a project is taking briks you wont immedietlly buy bricks just to sell them at a loss. i would say a difference of 10% (lower then 15 buy more then 25 sell) is enough and should increas brik revenue
sorry for bad english
Your English is actually pretty good! Just work on your punctuation
You're better off using two small water wells (no workers required) instead of the large one and use a large pump to pump water into a water treatment plant in the town, then pump the water into a water tower and gravity feed into the whole town network.
I'm surprised you didn't wait for the full release before starting this new series.
I had slightly early access to the 1.0 build - so this is all on that release version of the game :)
I have found that when it is necessary to break the power supply temporarily to fix/extend coverage, it is well worth the investment to plop down a small wind turbine before breaking the supply just to keep power from shutting down completely. That hit to happiness and health can be devastating. That only is possible, of course, if you have unlocked alternative energy through research already. As a general practice though, it is also prudent to build in switches every few hundred meters as you are laying out your electrical infrastructure as that allows for both expansion and alternative, temporary options when things need to be changed. * Ditto for water and sewage systems
Hail comrade Chairman, thanks to your LP (and it going on sale) I was able save enough money to buy this myself. Ive never felt this kind of challenge from a city builder before, and only got as far as I have by watching this
Finally the new episode of the series, I don't remember when was the last time 5 days felt so long for me. Keep up great work, you know The 5 Year Plan great work ;)
That was a very long 5 day glad your back, water and sewage pipes come in 3 sizes you should go big from water well then drop down the sizes to the water subs,Sewage you should just go big for them all,I always have a technical services as well with sewage trucks for building you miss,You will need to build the court and prison as well for you police to do anything, forget the coal power plant you should get a Uni and research the Oil power plant you have a lot of Oil and a Uni is a must in the game now other than that you doing GOOD keep it up.
Love the series. Leaving this for the engagement
love the series, keep up great job.
Was refreshing your page all day! Great content!
Always adore this series :)
I think you need to focus on upgrading roads, especially one to quarry and customs house. That makes a lot of a difference. also I preffer to have smaller but faster dumpers - they don't block traffic.
Always love to watch your play throughs!
Finally. A life size Statue to befit our glorious liberator.
Ideally you would build the well as high as possible. Gravity is a thing with both water and sewage. But with the oases in the valley I guess you can't place a well on the hill. You then definitely need a pump, probably a large one to get the water up the hill. I would place the water tower on the hill close to the buildings, and pump from there. Pumps and water wells need power. Large water wells need workers, though small ones don't. Small will be fine for what you are building, and not be an issue until you have a few thousand workers. The water quality needs to be considered - imported water is 99% and excellent for all uses. Your own wells won't produce that quality. So sometime you need a water treatment plant.
I just finished watching the other vids and was waiting for this one thanks for posting comrade 🗣️
Bro, your offices are basicly multitasking with the bridge and everything
Thus they are bussy all the time to finish important stuff.
Do this.
Name the offices and give them roles.
If you need something done ASAP asign 2 officer to do it AND NOTHING ELSE.
That way they focus.
You may problem is that this game take terrain and elevation into account and that you dont have good managment skill.
For that i suggest rewatching the videos of what you do, specially when having problem on placements and analize WHY you had a problem
For example you realize space was an issue and have accounted for it, good job!
Ps: i am late to the party so disgregar my comment if is something you already realize.
Hope to reach the up to date videos soon! :)
You said you wanted people to comment and you read your comments so I thought I would give you about why I started watching this series. That being said I have only watched eight of your videos to date.
I watch your videos to see how your progression manifests itself in the game. I had never heard of this game until your video. I have also watch similar games from other channels, and I like them for different reasons. I like how this game is more complex that others and you seem to know what your doing from what I have seen.
What part of your videos I like; your very open about your progression in the game, so not boring commentary. Next as I prefer a bit longer sessions, I am ok with how long your videos are, but longer would be better for me. I somewhat like the roleplay your putting into the game, more on that later.
Its later, lol. Ok all of this is my eyes as a viewer and not intended to put you on blast as you can play any game any way you like and that's ok. There are many times where it seems you spend far too much time delaying in game progress defending or over explaining comments you get from your videos. Noting a comment is one thing, but many of your videos you spend over half of your 60 min video explaining or apparently defending your game play. I personally don't like that style as it frustrates the viewer or viewers like myself.
SUGGESTION: In between videos you can do a Reply to your comments video only, where you address People (BY CHANNEL NAME) (Their Question) and your Short Answer. You can maybe do 3 to 5 of these that you want to address or none if that works for you, but leave it out of the game play video you post, or at least temper it a little. Just an idea call it "QUICK RESPONSE PT#". These don't have to be long They don't have to be edited, just recorded and uploaded.
Next suggestion I would say is I get you have your own playstyle, but I personally would like to see more of the Ground animation of the game. Overhead is cool when planning, you can advise new players Keyboard controls, methods on how to control the world more and overall tell us what your doing to make angles and placements of items in the game. Sure teach us a little about how to play the game even more than you do, but many times you tell quality parts of the game but speed through it a bit fast even when you pause the game making a viewer work to get the info, when we just want to relax and watch you build a city.
I'm sure you get this all the time, viewers pointing out mistakes you make in the game and that sucks. Mistakes happen and that is part of life so never dwell on it and move on. We are watching you, if we have an issue we can not watch if the viewer cant accept people make mistakes and move on, just don't spend time on it in your videos.
I hope you read this and take it as it was intended. Keep up the good work.
I always appreciate feedback - thanks! I'll try and bear all this in mind.
HES BAAAAACK, I missed this series so much ;-;
I got this game on release from watching your playthrough, i skipped the tutorials and went straight to building on realistic mode, i lost count the amount of times iv had to start a new game over and over 😂, constantly watching for tips to see how i can improve my gameplay to hopefully get my republic past at the very least 1965
Ended up picking this game up and its been a trip so far. So much to learn. I hope you eventually end up doing a rail line (maybe along the river?) so i can see how you handle it.
On a side note, i hope you do a playthrough of Phantom Brigade soon, its quite great so far
love the series
I needed this. Thanks
Hey man, I just found out about this game on 1.0 and already binged this series so far. Looking forward to watching it for the forseeable future! I'm grateful for the in depth explaining of how things work, don't worry about slowing the episodes with that. If you are going to speed up somehow, i'd suggest maybe turning the "futzing placements" parts into small timelapses in post. I can see futzing is a very important part of the process to avoid mistakes and I also get my OCD bothered when things end up crooked, so for you to futz in peace and the episodes fit more progress, speeding up these parts a little bit in post could help. Otherwise really good stuff, if you uploaded everyday I'd be watching everyday
Your aggregate storage of stone should see if it can link into your gravel plant, if the pre-existing one cannot, build a new one that can to keep the small quarry working away steadily and ensure a slow and steady backlog of Gravel whenever workers become available.
was waiting for the next episode, finally!
Something I've noticed about how the game distributes workers to construction sites.....since you're generally getting fairly large bus loads of workers from the border, it will send the bus to the construction site with the most workdays remaining. So if a project gets down to like 3 workdays remaining, it goes to the bottom of the queue for the bus. So I've often bumped up the priority on something, just to make sure it gets the next bus so it'll finish.
Oh and Song of Syx looks amazing, already bought it just waiting on couple more updates. And It’s just classic pixel graphics, not necessarily cartoonish.
Has huge battles and graphics can’t really be much better without lagging too much at least with how the game has been made and optimized by one person. Mechanically looks like a game I’ve been waiting on for years
The Soviet PartyElite is making great strides towards a prosperous republic
I'm not sure if it was addressed or not. But you're still importing foreign workers for construction. You do not have a bus internally in the city to pull workers from the bus station to the job site. If you have some buses attached to the construction office. Jobs will get done faster. Again not sure if you brought this up or fixed it in a future episode. Love the content!
I imagine you'd get a more consistent water supply by pumping it up from the river and to a treatment plant.
Was Hooded Horse responsible for the rushed Biomes DLC? If so, while I'm sure they've already seen the Steam reviews, you might remind them that this is not how you create goodwill within a community. Even if all three maps _were_ procedural, $10 USD is a questionable sum for the content. Party, with whatever influence you might have with them, please don't let Hooded Horse go down the dark path of Paradox. With so many potentially good games in the pipeline, I'd hate to see them all spoiled by overly aggressive early releases (Manor Lords shouldn't have released as early as it did), anti-consumer DLC pricing, and just overall questionable business-first strategies.
dramatic ass comment
nice
the thing that happens with the bricks is because both import and export are at 30%, whenever a shipment arrive, it goes over it so now it exports the same ammount I suggest import 10% export 40%
It would be interesting making an oil-processing plant or a hotel, because it will give you more money from selling gas/bitumen or from tourists
also think about sourcing construction workers from bus station :)
From a citizen’s perspective, there is a general lack of proper walkways all around town. A fun project that would make the town feel much more pedestrian friendly would be to enable walkways along all major roads. We don’t want kids risking their lives going to school!
Alternate Episode Title: Power to the People.
For the glory of the People's Republic of Partystan!
I’m loving the series, but I got tired of waiting for the next video, so I bought the game for myself! I would love for the content to get put out quicker, but I don’t mind the slow gameplay and paused planning. I like watching your methods and thought processes, though some times you just need to click the button..
You should rename the small storage next to the brick factory to "Brick Storage," since the only product it will store is the bricks, it will make it easier to find in a list of storage if it is simply labeled Brick Storage.
You should consider biting the bullet and adding another substation, almost inside the district instead of demolishing and moving the substation 10pixels. Added benefit is redundancy, not as much of a waste of resources and literally no waste.
Fitting lenin statue
Can we see planet zoo making a comeback on your channel.. Like this game
I would have just left the original power substation. It can't hurt to have too many substations, they share the load. I would have just run a new cable all the way to the new substation, rather than cut off power to even more citizens. Above ground electric cables are built pretty quick.
I think maybe you can increase happines of your citizens by adding some heating so they have access to warm water for showers and stuff.
Let them enyoy at least 2 cold months a years prevent heatstrokes :)
@@molybdaen11 Sure, they don´t need to use the heating but they are allowed to do so :D
Do you have fuel deliveries to your clinic ?
You are big enough that HV cables to start the grid from the border would be fine. If you hit the limit on the MW cable from the border all of your buildings will suffer from power issues.
Good work, Commerade Engineer. The Party is pleased with your progress in this distant corner of our Glorious Union. You shown these indiginous an uncultured people, the glory of our Soviet industry and teachings of our greatest teacher Lenin !
While also bringing our police forces, to oversee anyone who would dare to opose us !
We shall observe your progress and expect you bring back the money and trust, that the party invested in you.
Glory to the Soviet Union !
PS.. Two people "Escaped" and Two Died in the Fire ? ... You know, just now.. I put two and two together..
Im absolutely enjoyning watching this !
❤
Soviet Jones ova here, but i digress
I might be wrong, but i always thought that excavators consume fuel, when you terraform, so it isn't free.
Couldn't you have added a third substation allowing you to cover the area not covered.
Also allowing you to expand west rather than demolish and rebuild the second station? More redundancy and greater area coverage.
Hey i think that you should use gas power plant to produce electricity
Don't the pump Jack's need power?
YOOOOOOOOOOOO
Half way thru the episode. Doesnt the coal power plant need water? Shouldnt you build the water substation with enough room to connect to it? That way you dont have to build another substation.
Are you playing planet zoo again.
I think it would be both quicker and cheaper to use your own workers for constructions.
Late to the party, but, if you are running low on funds can you exchange Dollars for a bunch of Rubels? Like 1 to 10?
You need to bring workers to the large well. That is painful
Why not centralize those infrastructure like electricity/sewage/water ? Why always build those things in the fringes barely covering what is already built?
Damn, this game got a lot of buttons. 😂
More trains
Where is Lenin monument??? 😅
I think that building next to the tavern (opposite the new statue) is out of range of your new power station
For the demolition office I normally buy one bus and 3 garbage (large) trucks. Most building when demolished have 3 types of garbage to be removed. When you have the 3 different trucks they go at once and not one truck going at the site 3 times, which saves time.
Also I think you must have a courthouse in order for the crime stat to go down
Man you take a lot of time
Yeah definitely something I'm trying to improve on my end. Appreciate the feedback!
You need an orphanage because you can use it to avoid the contentment modifier for dead children.
If you didn't fill up the buildings with immigrants and left the game to manage that, then you should have 25-35% free apartments. In an emergency with the sewage pollution/lack of power you could move citizens to other buildings. They take a small hit to happiness but it's better than them all getting sick.
meow
I have an idea, don't build pubs in cities with machetes and build pubs in cities without mosques
Greetings comrade. Have you given thought as to a name to this glorious nation? A popularity vote of some kind would be a good way to drive engagement from the working classes.
🫡 engaging for the good of the party, comrade!
Such a great let’s play. I love how detailed you get when you talk about the stuff you do. So little seems to change in that series but if you look closely it‘s a lot. Pls more!
