Super detailed! Though it should be worth noting that the XMP file metadata isn't really much use outside of some Adobe products. If your plan is to add metadata in this way and pass it on to a colourist in Resolve, then don't waste your/your clients time, as Resolve doesn't support XMP data and these fields will appear blank to them. Neither does Avid's Media Composer at that. Bridge, Photoshop, Illustrator and of course PPro will read the additional file metadata, but even then Adobe's own After Effects doesn't support it.
Thank you! I thought only Adobe Bridge can access this metadata. I am going to make a progression video based on the time when files are created, it saves me a bunch of time!
Is there a way to customize metadata schema in CLIPS not only in File? What if I'm working with one file broken up into many clips, or even nested sequences that I want to tag with metadata? It seems like that would be an important function, do you know how to do it?
This is very helpful, thanks! I wanna ask, have you ever had an issue where you wrote in text into 'description' or 'log note' and when you go to search the files don't populate?
Thumbs down for me, we need a System to share Metadata from on-set to all NLE systems. Nobody want manually add Scene Take Meta for thousands of clips. Takes to much time....
great video- but I was looking for an SEO angle and it seems as though you're looking from a file management angle. Love to see one on SEO if you're qualified to speak on that.
How does this work for the final render export? Does it lists all of the info from all of the used clips? And can a default MetaData file be saved as a preset for all exported renders? TIA
Hello Sir, Can you tell me how to stop metadata writing in progress? As it says if you quit the project before metadata writing in progress complete. data will be lost.? Can you Please help me out with this issue.
Great video. I would love to be able to show my RAW photo info that is saved in the .cr2 or .cr3 files in the meta data and also have that show as a video overlay effect to auto show things like ISO settings and what not just by applying the effect (like Clip Name but it would be for the other info I need from meta data).
Just tried it out, and you can. Just select all your clips, go to the Metadata type. Then edit it the same way you would a solo clip. Very helpful! Thank you.
Hey - great video! So I have a specific situation where I'm working with hockey game melts that have a plethora of action in them - what I want to do is go through and metadata these melts so that let's say at 1:00 there was a goal by a certain player and 1:37 has a good ISO of another player. What's the best way to mark the action and metadata it? Also, is this data searchable in finder windows - OR - in the media browser in Premiere?
The Clip metadata is saved in the Premiere Pro project file. The File metadata is saved in the source file. So even if you move your source files around the File metadata will go along.
So basically metadata will return anything that is in the path of the file? So it's basically useless if you are looking for any kind of file that shares a name related to the folder the data is stored in, because it will return EVERYTHING in that folder.
Metadata is the biggest hunk of garbage in premiere. Literally makes all my searches useless because there is so much garbage metadata in EVERYTHING. It needs a way to just ignore all metadata and search only by file name BY DEFAULT.
Metadata seems to be pretty much garbage in my opinion. If you have anything in a folder that had the name/word you are searching, Premiere gives you a crap ton of bogus results in your search because it finds the name of the directory. This program has really been turning to shit over the last several years.

Does altering the metadata on your file affect your google placement?
Thanks! You rightly described and explained METADATA as a powerful Editing-tool. 👍

exporting drone footage to image sequence - how to include the gps metadata in each image for the 3d mapping software to use?
How to bulk edit metadata? How to change multiple files for example the Author?

Hi. Great video! I would like to know if there is a way to view the BPM of mp3s. these values are saved in the file tags. Can anyone help me?

Why the thumbs down? That was really useful.
It's the Internet. Someone somewhere will somehow whine.
Thanks Chris!

I was researching this angle as well, did you find a good video covering this, Freedom Lawyer?
estos metadatos pueden servir para hacer viral a un video?

Does somebody know if these metadata can be read out from platforms like BlackBox or shutter stock ?
You have such a beautiful voice! ~
What does that little link icon mean to the right of some of the metadata fields?
When I select the metalogging tab there's no project tab in the new window. It has everything but a project tab, am I missing something ?
This is awesome. I had no idea about this.

Is there any way to do a batch of metadata? Rather than individually changing the meta data for every file?
Just tried it out, and you can. Just select all your clips, go to the Metadata type. Then edit it the same way you would a solo clip.

if still needed...prelude cc i suspect. you'll find several tutorials on youtube for this topic.
And what happens if I move the files to another computer?

Can someone *PLEASE* tell me how I can find music from this site *WITHOUT* the voice saying "PremiumBeat.com" every other second?
You have to buy the license for it so that you have permission to use it and you're able to download a clean version.
You buy it, you jackass.
