    The Magico A5's are impressive speakers. Excellent vocals. Transients are very quick and sharp, well controlled. Thanks, Jay. Those electronics are world class!

    The opening live drum recording truly revealed how tight and fast is the bass of the A5. I heard the A5 back in 2020, and they seem slightly lean. Extremely pleasantly surprised that with your electronics Jay, the A5 comes across truly full range, and with substantial tonal mass. Thanks Jay.

    I played song #2 on Spotify. Spotify tuned in to that choice and then started throwing song after song of really cool music that had never been on my radar before. I'm glad I stopped by the lab today.

    What is behind the speakers is more important than the speakers. Speakers are the window to the electronics. Sounds great.

      His system won't in actuality improve any speaker. It will however allow whatever speaker hooked up to play when properly setup far closer to it's own real ultimate potential. Better conceived and produced speakers will still perform superior in numerous ways including audibly to poorly conceived and produced speakers

    This is as good as it gets. With the same electronics, swiping Magico A5 with the newly announced Magico M7 ($375k) won't produce a dramatic difference.

    Not sure if it's the recording but it seems every so slightly bright in the song around 5:52; the same in the next song where it seems a bit more sibilant than it should be.

    I could hear the A5 on the Munich High end fare this year, and didn't find them compelling to my ears. With your equipment they sound a lot better, the bass ist fantastic, the heights I still find too "harsh". I think it is a matter of taste.

    Sounds good for those type of speakers. I am testing out the Sonus Faber Aida 2's with Scott at EvolutionHT next week. I might get those or the Von Schweikert Ultra 9's with Gordon at the Audio Company. He has magico brand also. Some systems can get too clean for some audiophile's liking. What I mean by that is some coloration and distortion has actually shown to be pleasing to the ear when listening and hearing. I think systems can get too clean sometimes where all the soul is sucked out of them. That can great for techno type music but other types can really appear soulless while technically clean. My current speakers are very technical and sound really good but not what I am after.

      Interesting

    • @davidcross890
      @davidcross890 2 роки тому +1

      Joel, Respectfully all the soul and life of any recording comes to fruition when you remove all distortions and colorations possible. It gives me great concern when so many factually uninformed people on reality in audio pass on misinformation when most have little to no practical working knowledge of system interactions. I understand to each their own, but, if we are truly trying to faithfully reproduce sound as it was once performed or recorded it's best to keep the punch bowl clean. Otherwise, it's only flavors that muddy the punch bowl.

    Hey, Jay... Always a fan of your posts, but I have a suggestion. I don't know if you are familiar with "Roger Waters"., but He was the major songwriter and bass player for "Pink Floyd"' I don't know if his music is your style, but his album "Amused to Death" was recorded in "Q-Sound", which
    gives a "stereo" mix, a 3-D sound. Awesome experience. Just want to know your take on how it sounds on your system. :)

    I have heard the A5 many times and they have phase issues , the drivers are not in phase with each other causing alot of time smear. Also I am hearing diffraction smearing on the vocals from the large baffles. Come on Magico for that price you can buy many better speakers.

    • @raymaksimavicius4902
      @raymaksimavicius4902 2 роки тому

    • @mrhd5831
      @mrhd5831 2 роки тому

      From Stereophile's A5 review "drivers all connected in positive acoustic polarity". Also, diffractions happen over corners and edges, not flat surfaces. In fact, Vandersteen will suffer more from it than the A5. In short, Ray, you are making, silly, things up, as previously stated.

    Hello Jay, be aware that the Magico S7 that are not connected, even though they are passive, just because they are present in the room [ and you mentioned the reason why ] they are playing as well with the one that is connected, and adding their own sound into the room and distorting the main speakers that are currently playing. I sure that the A5 will sound much better being the only one in that room.

    Your intent to show the influence and importance of good electronics has been well displayed through your many varying systems. This however didn’t sound good to me. It seemed to show the audiophile qualities of the speakers that could be maximized by the electronics but for me the music was lost. Through my headphones and for my tastes a $620,000 fail which does however reiterate the importance of synergy.
