After this video…I can confirm that I suck at yugioh, thanks Kevin for teaching me the way! 😭🙏🏻
Way to be a MAN and admit your faults. Mad Respect!
The way of the samurai.
RIP
Can't wait till the next IRL YCS if I play Sam ik ill win if he doesn't know the ruling.
Tbh I expeted Yaccine for cydra rulings...
This, This is the new weekly Yugioh series that we all needed!!
I just watched this video and I’m laughing so hard right now, when DistantCoder corrected Sam on the “damage modify ruling with cyber dragon infinity”
Would Watch this Everytime if it became a series
It’s okay remember sam also misplayed with dinos in the remote duel finals.
After watching this again after watching the other episodes up until now it cracks me up how confident and cocky sam was when the video first starts! Lol!
I got all but one of these right. That thing about card names vs level... that one threw me for a handloop. Brain go boom.
As for the stat modifiers, I've been using True Draco Apocalypse with Forbidden Drop in Monarch to temporarily negate and permanently quarter the ATK of most or all of my opponent's monsters. So I figured an effect like Limiter Removal would override some other stat changes. That's why you're supposed to use it in the damage step.
Your pronunciations of these cyber dragon monsters are blowing my mind
This is already officially my sixth favorite series on Yugitube 😂
That attack modifier ruling still makes no sense to me even after Coder explained the ruling
Bro the pronounciation of "Zwei" got me laughing so hard
It should be pronounced "zvei" as in german right?
Haha its so weird i live in germany its tzwei its even worse how they pronounce nächster
@@fatihosas1755 netze?
@@Strategic. its pronounced nächsta or nächster both are correct
@@fatihosas1755 doesn't seem complexe to me, as an Arab guy I can easily pronounce the ch ( خ )
This is literally what I expect people to do all day of the duel academy from yugioh gx was a real thing :D
I could’ve sworn the last infinity question would be 4400 since I thought the key word that make a monster’s ATK unchangeable was the word “becomes”
Construct attack shooting majestic star dragon. Construct activates effect to destroy majestic star then majestic star uses his effect to banish himself to negate Construct. The. Mechaba use his effect to discard to negate majestic star effect. Does majestic still return to the field during the end phase or no?
Lot of things to learn here. Great video
Man that card text sure is solving a lot of problems
I thoroughly enjoyed this, catch me guessing along as it goes like a gameshow.
Keep up the good content.
I remember the day this was recorded but I missed the start time for this being live and have been waiting for this. Not disappointed at all
The Last Ruling with the Stat Modifying is REALLY Interesting....
Cyber Dragons....is my thing, I know the rulings back and forth.
This is such a good series
If I was sam I would've guessed the always lose die role archetype
video should be named like a new series with ep 1 ish name, so people would know its a new series, cause the idea is Great!!
I love this series, very fun and it creates some interesting ruling points and I felt like I learned
At the end you should ask the Yugituber to nominate another yugituber
4:00 how could he get it wrong after coder even said "lingering effect"
That was a ton of fun! Hope to see more!
I still don’t get the limiter removal thing, why wouldn’t it’s attk double plus the boost from its own effect?
No way.. sam is not wearing a hat lol
man I LOVED this, omg
Just came here to (hopefully) see Sam embarrass himself
Dumb question but, when you detach a material from infinity (your opponents) to negate the activation of an effect, it goes to the grave right? Not back in play?
Yea goes to the grave
This is a fire video/series and I hope to see more soon :>
Can't wait to see Farfa
My HERO otk deck crying in the corner...
we need a Hero version of this
6/2..got zwei wrong then fell for it and got herz wrong 😅
I love this series 🤣🤣🤣
I actually knew the last one (but only like 2 others xD)
I'd love to see a Duel Links player try this 👀
Whats the outro?
jerry liked this video
Your editing is amazing lol
OK, another question: How does limiter removal set a monster's attack to a specific number??? It says double the attack, not "This monster's attack becomes X"! WHAT???? Also, Infinity says gains 200 attacks (so it's X(attack)+200) why doesn't limiter removal matter?
"...double its attack" is apparently shorthand for "...its atk becomes double its current atk," or something similar to that.
@@delta3244 That doesn't really answer my question. Even if that's true Limiter removal still doesn't sets a monster attack to a specific number cuz it depends on the monster's attack. So what about monsters that have? ATK?
What @DistantCoder said only makes sence if the monsters atk is 0.
@@most10wanted67 LR does set the affected monster's attack to a specific number. That specific number is determined on effect resolution. Once it sets the monster's atk, it keeps that atk for the rest of the turn as specified by LR. Here's a full breakdown of the interaction in the video (the monster will be called X for simplicity):
- LR resolves. As part of that resolution, it looks at X's atk, which is 2100. It uses that value to create the lingering effect "X's atk is 4200. This effect disappears when this turn ends."
- X gains a material. X has an effect that increases its atk by 200/attached material. X now gains 200 atk (if possible).
- The aforementioned lingering effect is still active, and because it specifies that X's attack is 4200, X's attack does not change and remains 4200 until the lingering effect ends.
To put it simply, when LR resolves, "X's atk is 4200" becomes a fact until the end of the turn. If X gained 200 atk, it would have 4400 atk, which contradicts the fact that its atk is 4200, so it doesn't gain the atk.
Any form of multiplication or division in YGO is "setting the ATK", so it’s simpler than it may look at first.
Bring in Pak for Prank Kids plz
The real question for coder: Is there a hidden ruling, that all Cydra players open core?
Does Kagari gain an extra 100 atk when you use Limiter Removal and it then goes to the gy ? 🧐
lmao ask sam if animadored can pop animadored archosaur
Lol maybe I should be a judge I got all of these correct
Nice sección
Me while watching GX as a kid: Why would we need YGO school lol?
Me today: We need YGO school.
@T.J. Johnson and also chemistry and a PhD in physics or whatever Crowler had a PhD in
@T.J. Johnson Banner taught Chemistry and in episode 1 (dubbed does dunno about subbed) Crowler mentions he has a phd
DistantCoder: How you doing, Sam?
Sam: Literally broken, OP. Phenomenal.
God tier
which is absolutely amazing
@@Jusilau lmao
Patiently waiting for the dzeeff collab titled “Dzeeff Doesn’t understand [Archtype]”
Dzeef doesn't understand altergiest
The episode is called dzeef doesn't understand why people play cards and coder asks him all the ruling questions about cards in dzeefs why nobody plays series.
Dzeeff doesn't understand Egyptian Gods
OMGSH YES!!!
Your profile pic looks comfy af
Dzeff with Altergeist, Trif with Pend, and Farfa with Burning Abyss Pls
Farfa already did a BA one but it was in the 'old version' of this series. so if Farfa comes on it will not be about BA cause the questions have already been asked
Farfa already did BA, but it would be amazing if Kevin had him answer Adamancipator or Ignister rulings
Get all of them out.
MBT with Phantasm Spiral
Dzeef Madolche
Farfa used to market himself around infernity do he can do thst
Yup it's confirmed guys. This is the last test on Duel Academy.
This is a really cool idea! Worst case scenario, it gets more publicity for the lesser known rulings out there.
loads of potential here! payne for volcanics, cimooo for blackwings, trif for metalfoes...
Gage for frogs 😀
Not payne.
this series is straight fire, fantastic idea and super interesting to watch
i would put up the cards involved in the ruling questions on the screen just to make it easier for everyone to read their text and all
Sam: "I am a ruling God when it comes to Cyber Dragons."
Sam when he gets it wrong: I KNEW IT. I KNEW I WAS WRONG.
Came out cocky and got a 4-4 record. Who's the ruling God now? 🤣🤣🤣
For that first ruling, I always think of artifact scythe whenever lingering effects come up, because I feel like most people can intuit that if you negate scythe after it resolves it doesn't mean you can suddenly summon from the extra again.
Insert *Be a lot cooler if you did* meme.
Scythe stonks.
What's tricky with Zwei is that the lingering effect only affects itself, so you might think it would be ruled similarly to a stat modifying effect.
Yeah except with that logic you'd have gotten the Herz question wrong
@@motokuchoma ye i was trying to follow thhat logic got the first 2 right then failed the 3
Scythe is my second thought only because I use it to wreck noobs and occassionally in salad. What I always think about is AZATHOT because remember when you could just azathot somebody ON THEIR TURN?! I remember that well, and I remember being helpless to undo that DEGENERACY once it had resolved.
As a German, the way U pronounce "zwei" is funny af
As an American it was pretty hard to listen to.
At least he tried with Zwei. The rest he didn't even pretend could be German, which is p much the thing with the manga Cyber Dragons.
That's always painful to hear lol
But what about Nasshhhtur?
We need an Episode with Dzeeff where he is guessing Altergeist Rulings!
Every single ruling involves Silq
I like that you used the word guessing instead of something like 'answering' giving the implication he'd do no better than a random number generator.
Thanks Kevin, this was great! Learned a lot :)
Cyber Dragon best deck let's goooo
Tps je les ai tous eu en plus, pourquoi c'était pas moi 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yugioh really lacks a proper service to train aspiring and existing judges.
Yugioh lacks a rulebook
I feel like a lot of players 'become judges' for the sake of getting mats, promos, etc. To flip on the second hand market. There's not much prestige to being a judge that I know of.
bro it’s just reading. If you know how psct works at all, just apply it to every card scenario
I hope Koty turns up for one episode and just gets ruling questions on tokens
The way they pronounce zwei makes me want to commit sudoku
This video wasn’t 21:00 dang missed opportunity lol
Pls do with Farfa and BA
Cimo and Salad
Ruffles and HERO
the Limiter Removal one is just like True Draco Apocalypse, i'm disappointed in Sam
Remote duel champion, knows rulings? I remember him poppimg archosaur with archosaur effect and adding double evolution pill
The pronouciation is terrible. Learn basic german words ^^. otherwise great video !
It's very weird to hear the way they pronounce the name of the cards as a German speaker because the words like zwei or Herz are german
I love Sam but......
during that remote duel he misplayed some lol ;3
Says he is a genius and smarter than the experts...
Blames experts for tricking him when they are just starting facts...
Tries to make his audience more hyped by his own personality than by what is being taught...
Hmmm... who does this sound like? Meh, idk...
dude touch some grass lmao
Love team Sam, but wouldnt Yaccine be a better cydra player to do this with?
Great video! Put a couple more memes when the participant is thinking (hopefully they don't take it seriously not to make too much fun of them). Funny video either way and educational 👌🏼
I am a cyber dragon lover and I got all questions right love it!
I like it Sam says all of this and he misplayed in the first part of a game in the remote duel
This is an awesome idea for a series Kevin! Looking forward to more
Episode 2 : ask Cimo the rulling of shaddoll shekhinaga.
Episode 3 : ask Gage the rulling of Ronin toadin for synchro summon or terraforming for Verdant Sanctuary.
he needs to do this with like farfa or mbt that could make for a fun episode
Sam's like "its over 9000"🤣🤣🤣🤣
The limiter removal question actually made me mad, that's such a dumb ruling wth LMAO
I got it right. There's different kinds of stat buffs and debuffs in the game, and they function differently. Think about stats in video games. One buff just might override another. The types of buffs and debuffs you're using for won't be apparent unless you know what you're looking for.
Limiter Removal doesn't seem correct, because that would mean I can use Mega Morph, and then Limiter Removal, and then if Megamorph is returned it still has 4x the ATK, and then if I activate Megamorph or some other boost other than basically another Limiter Removal, it wouldn't do anything.
I feel like this could have seen play way back in the Cyber Stein FTK with Cyber Twin Dragon and something like Giant Trunade.
The names vs lv thing is interesting, I honestly had no idea they kept their modified name but not their modified level if negated. Called By is obvious because it affects "original name" and also effects are easy to remember too.
Well, the first part of what you said is very much correct. If you use Megamorph then Limiter Removal, the monster's ATK will be double what it was when Megamorph was applying, and then if Megamorph leaves the field or the status of your LP compared to your opponent's changes, the ATK value will not change. However, if you activate a new Megamorph after that, it will apply its effects just fine. As to what another modifier would do after that, it depends on the kind of modifier.
When it comes to this kind of thing seeing play in Cyber Stein FTK era, the rulings at hand that clarify these interactions probably didn't even exist back then. You are also talking about en era when technical knowledge of the game was much, much more limited than today.
Not that rulings regarding ATK/DEF modifications are widely understood nowadays either, of course. As Coder kinda let show in the video, they're some of the most unintuitive rulings in existence, and common logic can fail easily when tackling them. They're the kind of rulings that even most judges fail to understand, so expecting playerbase-wide understanding of them would be wishful thinking at best.
For the last question I'll just cite an article from the ygorganization regarding rulings: "I can probably count on one hand the amount of people on this planet that know all the dark depths of shrink rulings".
That last ruling with Limiter Removal completely broke me lol
that's deep, bruh this game is crazy
He talks him out of his answers on purpose. I would never pay for ruling questions. Most games have plenty of free resources. I would hope yugioh would be the same.
Yeah I noticed that. My only feedback would be to not interfere with how/when they answer.
Being someone who does not play this game (I watch these videos because I like learning about games), I am happy to say that I did better than your guest at 5-3 correct-incorrect. As for what I got wrong:
- that levels are reset when names aren't in this same circumstance is arbitrary. The name change being preserved makes sense because the effect that changes the name temporarily has already fully resolved by the time the card it's on has had its effects negated. The level change being reverted doesn't make sense* by the same logic.
- I thought "in your possession" referred specifically to the card being on your field. In retrospect, this was dumb because I've seen different phrasing which does refer to a card being specifically on the field.
- ATK doubling cards do not precisely say what they do.** They would be more accurately written "...[the card]'s ATK is equal to double its current ATK for the rest of the turn."
*This is not to say that all rules in a card game for interpreting card text must make sense, or that this rule not making sense is bad. It just makes interpreting them difficult for someone unfamiliar with the games exact rules.
**this is not to say that they should. Writing card text with slight imprecision and relying on game rules to make the effect precise leads to more succinct card text. It just makes the card difficult to predict for someone who doesn't play.
EDIT: grammar and clarity
The level-modifying effect being reset is an example of the special case where self-stat-modifying lingering effects are reset upon their host card's negation, isn't it? I forgot about that rule, assuming it exists as I remember it
@@delta3244 ATK, DEF, Level/Rank, Attribute and Type would revert in that case.
This is a cool idea. I’d like to see some easy questions first and then gets progressively harder
Uhm, how does that make 8 points? Aren't there just 7 questions?
Zwei, core, nachster, hertz, nova, overflow, infinity
Now i'm asking myself, if I active novas effect to double the attack and then play limiter removal, does it go to 4200 oder 8400?🤣
Does chaining either makes a difference or not?
It goes to 8400. The ruling that Coder described only stops previously applying *continuous* modifiers from still applying. Limiter Removal doesn't fall under that.
Starting off strong. Always happy to see TeamSam
I’m a super small Yugituber but I would absolutely smash this for Trap Monsters rulings.
Why do the rulings of Yugioh suddenly feel like spaghetti code that’s stupidly jumbled.
I’m still scratching my head at the imperm/herz question (or whichever it was with the levels). That makes no sense, since he specialises after resolve. Like, how. I just.....how
And I don’t wanna disrespect this guy, but I really want some citations for all these rules now. I’m not claiming a lot of these rulings don’t or shouldn’t exist, I agree with most of them (heck I got a better score than Sam here and I’m not even “pro”), but when you consider how obscure a lot of these rules are (like imperm resetting the level, or Limiter locking the atk), a lot of people are gonna skip over them, and when they are brought up at a locals for example, there’s gonna be some disagreements.
I really like the idea for this series, I would love it tho to get more of Sam's internal reasoning out of the question.
"I am the 2020 Remote Duel Champion. Rulings are my thing" * proceeds to try to pop Animadorned Archosaur with Animadorned Archosaur*
He jst trying to show off/boast. His video mostly just click bait
@@yugiwinninglex wow you have to be some kind of genius for figuring that out
that limiter remover question....
i'm just gonna keep cheating in my locals.
😂😂😂
So, if a lingering effect resolves, it kept the resolved effect. When I dropped an Imperm on an Accesscode Talker, it reduced the attack from 5300 back to 2300. Is that not a lingering effect? This was on Master Duel, so no questionable rulings with YGOPro.
I can’t stand how confident yugioh players talk down to you explaining shit that makes NO logical sense. Just say “because Konami says so.” 😂🤣
