    HANNAH READ THIS PLEASE, I don't know if you will see this but the first wall you did and up to the window, I believe the insulation is correct!!!!!! 😉 The insulation was non craft faced and you put the plastic vapor barrier up👍 Went back and checked the video. Did anybody else notice this??? The rolls of insulation you had were OK until you went to the store and bought more, thats where the mishap started🙁 People help her out💯

    Hi Hannah, love your channel. If I could make one suggestion, a roller stand for your miter saw. That way the off cuts won't fall and you won't have to try to catch them. The motion of catching them brings your hand and arm across the blade path. I know there's a guard but I've seen many accidents over 30+ years of being a trim/ finish carpenter. Also it keeps the wood from getting dinged up if it falls. If you have a P.O. box, I'll gladly send you one.
    Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but the carpenter and dad in me had to give it. 😉

    I used to live in an apartment in a very old house that was heated with a wood stove and we bought some briquettes for winter (one for each cold day) and for the night we wrapped one in a thick layer of newspaper (I know young people don't have newspapers anymore but you might know some old folks who can give you their old newspapers) and put the wrapped briquette on the embers of the wood and it would slowly burn over night not as hot as wood and still have some left to spark the fire again in the morning. So our apartment would not be totally chilling when we woke up. Just a handy tip for the cold nights with a wood burning stove.

    My wife Sara and I have been your fans from van to cabin. We like the cabin videos more to be honest, although the incredible scenery from the van life are what hooked us. Your honesty and hard work keep us coming back. Dancing while you take on various projects, we really like your music too. Keep being as real as you can be. We like you (and your family), just the way you are. It’s hard to find others like you on UA-cam.

      Be careful cleaning mold...it can put all kinds of nasty stuff in the air. If you can: Wear a good mask, try to seal off the area, and use a hepa air filter. Also bleach can actually make it more toxic -- try soap and water or ec3 products! (I got really sick from mold with chronic fatigue etc.)

      You are doing a great job but Ummm…. One other thing is that the rodent or animal excretion is most likely in that other old insulation that you just covered with the plastic and boards. Won’t be as efficient with the tunneling they do. Just saying.

      I agree...ideally use a barrier which allows water in the form of vapour to pass through...but not water droplets. Houses gots ta breathe!

    • @Rotten6
      @Rotten6 2 роки тому +1

      I live in Alberta, and we use 6 mil poly for vapour barrier. We also acoustic seal around the edges and double studs and seams to maximize seal and prevent air leakage. The biggest issue with condensation, is if you double vapour barrier. One on the outside and one on the inside, locking moisture in the wall.

    Loved the video. What a beautiful spot by the river! And the clip of the rain storm exuded coziness. The mix of reno work and livin' in the woods ambiance is just perfect (and that's why I keep watching!). Thanks for putting this stuff out into the world :-)

    My family has a tradition of decorating the old dried out tree in fireworks and mid January when we have a couple of birthdays, we put it in the fire pit burning it, fireworks and all. We learned the hard way not to use rockets, we mostly use sparklers, ground bloom flowers, and things that pop.

    Never mind the wood snobs! I was one of those when I renovated my cottage 20yrs ago. Wooden interiors become oppressive as they darken with age which is further compounded by unfinished wooden furniture. I've been gradually painting these past few years. Falling in love with white painted timber is progressive, and it creates the perfect canvas for showcasing the individual pieces of unfinished timber such as beams, rafters and table-tops. A home is a living space and reflective light is an important natural element for good mental health. Paint your timber girl....even prehistoric man (but probably woman cuz man was off hunting 🤷‍♀️) painted their caves. By the way, this is the perfect time of year for insulation work as dirty cramped roof spaces are a more of a nightmare to work in swealtering weather. Well done on your progress.
    PS Can we have more segments with Molly's audio choices? It's nice to have segments with continuity sound as a contrast to the 'copyright violation avoidance' compilations.

    As a Latina I love watching other cultures dance to Spanish music, everyone bobs around different and I love it! You guys kinda wiggle, German hop/jump, the French sway, Africans kinda pump to the beat, Latinos swing and twirl, I love the way my my Indian friends use their arms while dancing to Morat despite not knowing what the song is saying they get the beat of the lyrics and it’s so believable it’s great!!!!
    Watching you two made me miss my family, but I’m moving back on the 22nd so I just have to wait a little bit to dance with them too!
    I hope you have a lovely day!

    Hannah Lee! What I've seen others do when dealing with something like this - put down a tarp, then all the debris will fall into the tarp, making it easier to shift to the trash. Wonder if this might work for you?
