@@FROSTYLIFE if it catches it, it'll harm it, don't worry. The issue is not that an animal gets killed. The issue is that cats are an unnatural predator for the species of animals they kill. They do actual harm to the ecosystem if left outside, and them hunting shouldn't be encouraged. It's not about the well being of any one animal, it's about the impact it has on the entire area.
Djenkov that's not how nature works. you dont introduce invasive species into the wild and say "lol its the squirrels and birds fault for going extinct."
Great video! Remember watching it several years ago. Still hilarious. When you said to Mason re: his chasing ability, "You're better than a dog", Sadie looked at you like, "Seriously?" I hope that your furry friends are healthy and doing well.
@@FROSTYLIFE I really love the first time. You cat ran out on in instinct got up in the tree and suddenly "what am I doing? It is cold and my paws are wet." I don't think he thought he as in trouble, he was inconvenienced by the snow. Nice to see him more confident later on. And there is nothing wrong with your cat keeping those bush tailed rats at bay. Squirrels (at least some species) are well adapted to city life and a bit of predation is not bad for the population.
0623kaboom he didnt think he was in trouble. How would he know what trouble is? The cat was wound up and excited, not scared it would be in trouble. He followed his instincts to hunt,he couldnt possibily understand he did a no no.
Warbelly Live they know. Stop being ignorant. If I walk out of my room when the cat is doing something bad, be bolts. When I walk out and he was just chilling, he stays where he is and isn’t worried in the slightest.
I have a squirrel that likes to harass my cat from the window as well. Funny thing is I came to find out that they're like best friends I found them hanging out playing together out in the front yard one day when I was coming home. Mason looks just like my cat Zeke who's the a friend of squirrels and foxes.
My big tom cat used to bring rats, birds, and sometime even big rabbits to my door when I was a kid. He killed everything on my side of the road so then he learned to cross the road into the woods on the other side. I would watch him stop and look both ways before crossing. Then sometimes later he would come back with something dead. There wasn't many squirrels where I lived though or you could bet he would catch them. Sadly he died of old age at 21 last year an outdoors hunter until the end.
I have a tabby cat like mason that plays with the squirls in our yard. Lol He runs up the tree with them and they chase each other up n down the tree it's so funny. Thanks for sharing!
Feeders are why it's hanging out in the area but they're definitely teasing the cats. A lot of the time it just stands there flicking its tail at it and watching for a reaction.
Basically, yes. The squirrels want some food from the human. They know that people fill the feeders, and the ones they can get to are probably empty. A lot of people also feed the squirrels from right out their windows, so sometimes they come up to windows looking for people to feed them. The cats are mostly a non-issue to the squirrels. In the squirrels' minds, they think they can escape from cats (and the vast majority of the time do) and so they aren't that scared of them, plus they understand how windows work. Though there really are squirrels that will play games with cats, these ones looked like they were looking past the cats into the house looking for humans with food.
Darn, that's what I like about UA-cam. You put a lot, a lot of effort to film your cats in the right situation, editing, just like a whole movie studio and then this excellent result. Good master, good cats, great combination.

I used to hate cats. That was until a stray that was near death was in my neighborhood. I think it was one of those catch and release cats because when I took him in for shots I learned that she was a he that had been neutered. People who think they are doing good are wrong. He was slowly dying of starvation and I was just fortunate to find him in time. It took almost a month to earn his trust, but afterwards he was always there to greet me when I got home. He had some traits that reminded me of how dogs behave. I got really attached to him. Sadly, he was eventually killed by a bobcat in the neighborhood. He’s been gone for a couple years and I still miss him. I am too much of a clean freak to have an indoor cat, and it would not be right to get one for the outdoors knowing that it would probably have the same outcome.Anyway, sorry for the long and soppy story. Your cat reminded me of him.
I LOVE when my videos bring up wonderful memories for people. Our pets give SO much to us, because they appreciate the grace and safety we provide for them, so easily. They give us memories as a gift. Those memories make us smile the rest of our lives, and touch our hearts and soul.
I take in feral cats, spay, neuter, feed and socialize them in hopes to find them a forever home. I personally have had 25 ferals spayed/neutered in the last year. It is "my calling," I guess. I sometimes go without to care for these cats. You state, "people who think they are doing good are wrong." It's been my experience that controlling the feral cat population by spay and neutering them is the "best option." Feral cats do control rodent populations. If we euthanize all of them, the rodent population will get completely out of control, contaminating food sources and humans will get very sick from disease carried by rodents. There is a balance that needs to exist. I am becoming crippled by stenosis so my volunteer work may come to an end soon and no one else is very interested in what I do. Some ferals take a year or more to socialize, you need alot of patience but kittens are much easier. By the way, normally a "catch and release cat" has the left ear clipped when returned to their territory (yours may have simply been an abandoned or lost cat or a "weaker male" from someone's yard). Males are neutered to help cut down on fighting which injures them, sometimes fatally and it cuts down on the spraying. Here, in my area, ALL ferals that go the shelter are euthanized. There are people here that think all ferals should die. It reminds of a story where inhabitants of an island thought the same until rodents destroyed their grain and food supplies. These people were getting rodent born illnesses and facing starvation. They destroyed all feral cats because they were killing birds. They soon learned that they should have kept some around! While I do more for feral cats than others, several folks provide food for the ferals and many pay to have them neutered/spayed and then released, while providing food for 20 to 30 cats in a colony. The cats still hunt the rodents but do not starve and yet, do their part in controlling rodent populations. But we cannot spay and neuter all of them because a population needs to continually exist. So helping is actually a win win situation for both cats and humans. Sorry for such a long story. I am trying to educate people to the realities of feral cat populations. Yes, many cats behave like dogs too! ☺
Squirrels are smarter than most people give them credit for that cat didn't stand a chance the squirrel knew where it was going to go if it happened and it was way faster than the cat.
I've had cats that would be waiting for the squirrel in the tree. VERY fast. We have never had squirrels in our neighborhood until very recently at least 10 red squirrels appeared last spring. They hang out in the dozens of redwoods around our neighborhood. It is funny to watch as they hop with their tails floating behind them.
Some cats use it to imitate bird calls i think, but im not sure Edit: looked it up, yup theyre tryina imitate the sounds of their prey to fool it so they can get closer
I saw a squirrel do this with a snow leopard once at the zoo I sometimes go to to write. The cat was in a cage (he's kept healthy and happy by his keepers 24/7, don't worry about him). The squirrel was not in a cage. But leopards are wily. That squirrel did not live long.
Thank you so much. I am glad you asked. I am rock solid. I deserve some of it because of how I portrayed the moment. actually, my cat would never hurt any other animal. He is a curious cat and loves to run up to everything, and he stops to observe. I would have NEVER let an aggressive cat out of the window. We respect our gray squirrels around here. But the words I said during the video implies that I wanted blood shed. I was caught up in the moment, amazed at how my cat bolted out of the window to chase. I also knew he would not engage with the squirrel. There are a few on here that really troll, and I even had a few people tell me they would like to see me dead, so that is rather extreme, but those extreme comments are just a testament to the few sad, pathetic people who sit behind a screen and try to spread hate. Hate is only effective if received by me, and I aint receiving it. I love the fact that a very high percentage of comments are very positive and encouraging, like your comment. Thank you for taking the time to write a positive comment. I realize that it takes more effort for people to express a positive comment than for a troll to just spew hatred. I appreciate those many who make the effort to spread positivity and encouragement. I do learn from almost every comment.

Good, healthy, honest humor is just lost on some people. God bless.

Movie executive watches this video, Signs Mason to 3 picture deal, cat moves to Hollywood, becomes superhero kitty, gets strung out on catnip, meets Sheba cat-food kitty in rehab, marries and moves back to this home to start family and teach squirrel hunting. True Hollywood Story!
@@stclairstclair My wife and I have had about 60 cats over 45 years of marriage. Most lived full lives. Our last cat is 18 years old and appears healthy if less vigorous than when a year old. About twenty years ago we had a Turkish Van born in our house. A beautiful silky furred white cat with a few dark spots and tail. He was an amazing hunter. I have a large fig tree in my yard. He liked to lay on a branch where figs were ripening and wait for the blue jays to come and poach figs. He killed dozens of jays. He also was adept at catching dragonflies in mid air. His greatest feat of hunting was catching the wild dinner rolls when the neighbors were having a barbeque. He would jump the fence into our yard, dragging a bag of dinner rolls, and then prance across the lawn with his catch. One year a pair of swallows built a nest under the eve of our front porch. They raised 5 chicks that year while this cat studied the way the birds returned to their nest. The next year the swallows returned. The cats study payed off. He caught and ate both swallows their first day back.
@Yolanda Davis really? Did the human or the cat do the killing? Did the human teach the cat how to hunt? I've got another angle for you that shows how wrong you are: I'd bet you love the implementation of wind power because it's so squeaky clean. Forget that it's terribly inefficient and can only survive with government subsidies. Well, out west in the U.S. the Obama Administration planted hundreds of thousands of gigantic wind turbines. Now it turns out that those turbines are each killing thousands of birds annually. Is Obama a murderer? Is the government the murderer? How about the farmers who lease the land for the turbines? I have bad news for you, Yolanda Davis. The answer is none of the above and the reason is that murder can only be committed by a human perpetrator on a human victim. Birds can't be murdered. Neither can squirrels. The problem you have is that you've fallen for the moral equivalency arguments of stupid groups like PETA. Perhaps you're a PETA member. Holding non-human animals to the same value as humans is a dangerous way of thinking. It's a dog eat dog world out there, Yolanda, and if I get hungry, and there's nothing else to eat, I am going to kill a dog and eat it. And it won't be murder. Stop being a dope please.
Sadie: You forbid me to chase the squirel. Me! A dog! A SQUIREL! And you said the cat is better than me? OK, no problem man, I know where your shoes, keys and other yummy things are... :-D Mason: I'm like a puppy? Why are you insulting me? :-D
My cat is actually very curious and loves to play and he thinks that these squirrels are just something to play with and chase, but I am positive this cat would never harm the squirrels. I did realize, however, that the squirrels may not be so nice to the cat, so I never let him run out the window anymore. Plus, we have a large owl that moved into our trees in the back yard, so I will not be letting the cat out ever.

Djenkov
that's not how nature works. you dont introduce invasive species into the wild and say "lol its the squirrels and birds fault for going extinct."
Too funny the way Mason runs after the squirrel, up the tree then turns right around and runs back in! Very cute!
I love how the cat ran out, up the tree then realised it was cold out there
Great video! Remember watching it several years ago. Still hilarious. When you said to Mason re: his chasing ability, "You're better than a dog", Sadie looked at you like, "Seriously?" I hope that your furry friends are healthy and doing well.
Thank you for enjoying our fun with us
I love how Mason trees the squirrel and runs right back home lol!!
🌴🐿🐱😹
*points at dog* “YOU CANT CLIME TREES. *points at cat* You can. GOOD BOY
Hahaha, my dog has treed squirrels for years, and she sits at the base of the tree and barks, so it was funny to see the cat give chase up the tree.
Only animal cruelty in this video was the labs personal feelings.
points at Alek Tiller "You cant spell climb." Points at me "You can. Good boy."
You should put up a sign that reads something like "In case of squirrel, break glass".
Hahahaha, YES! I like your sense of humor.
That squirrel is actually toying with the cats. Hilarious stuff ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mason is awesome! That squirrel got the hell out of dodge with a quickness!
funny part once mason realised he wasnt in trouble was being allowed ot chase the squirrel ... he had no problems doing it at all lol
0623kaboom hilarious!!!
Indeed a very charming video and thoroughly enjoyed it, hope you make more of Mason and his friends.
0623kaboom he didnt think he was in trouble. How would he know what trouble is? The cat was wound up and excited, not scared it would be in trouble. He followed his instincts to hunt,he couldnt possibily understand he did a no no.
@@Kiriali how does a cat know its doing something it shouldnt? have you somehow explained to it how what its doing is wrong?
Warbelly Live they know. Stop being ignorant. If I walk out of my room when the cat is doing something bad, be bolts. When I walk out and he was just chilling, he stays where he is and isn’t worried in the slightest.
I have a squirrel that likes to harass my cat from the window as well. Funny thing is I came to find out that they're like best friends I found them hanging out playing together out in the front yard one day when I was coming home. Mason looks just like my cat Zeke who's the a friend of squirrels and foxes.
That is great.
This is stupid. You knew that was gonna jump and run when you opened the window.
"Who's a good boy?"
"MEow!"
Love the fact you told the dog it was Mason's squirrel. You are a great Dad!
unbelievable Mason comes right back to the window he ran out of.
Was there any other options?

It’s warm, that’s were his family is and that’s where his food is.
This is like a day out of my life. The cat and squirrel antics are a constant source of entertainment in our home. 😃
I need a cat like this. The squirrels in my neighborhood act like the run they run things.
Mason had a change of heart about that snow 😊
Not really. But he hated that squirrel more.
My cat as a kid use to chase squirrels in the back yard until one day they had enough and jumped him. True story
I wish you had a video of that. That would be hilarious.
Omar Scruggs that’s so cute
1v5 these squirrels and thier gangs
That's funny
Omar Scruggs Squirrels will fight back, that’s for sure, so did the cat end up getting the upper paw, or did he have to turn and burn?
My big tom cat used to bring rats, birds, and sometime even big rabbits to my door when I was a kid. He killed everything on my side of the road so then he learned to cross the road into the woods on the other side. I would watch him stop and look both ways before crossing. Then sometimes later he would come back with something dead. There wasn't many squirrels where I lived though or you could bet he would catch them. Sadly he died of old age at 21 last year an outdoors hunter until the end.
+Green Alien I love the sounds of your cat. No doubt he left you with great memories.
Yes, he did. Everyone in my neighborhood loved my cat as he would sometimes visit them when I wasn't around.
21 is a long life for a cat especially an outdoors one. Ive had three in the past 7yrs out side cats have tough life. but its the way they prefer.
Green Alien That cat sounds like a hero!
Damn 21? That's awesome.
That is a good cat! I can’t believe he comes right back down and runs back inside
That cat runs out and up the tree, feels the cold and says this is nuckin futz, back in the cozy house I go.
I have a tabby cat like mason that plays with the squirls in our yard. Lol
He runs up the tree with them and they chase each other up n down the tree it's so funny. Thanks for sharing!
The squirrel is definitely teasing the cat.
BadSeed Black1911 did u not see the feeders by the window
Feeders are why it's hanging out in the area but they're definitely teasing the cats. A lot of the time it just stands there flicking its tail at it and watching for a reaction.
Yes devil-squirrels.
Cat's like: " yeah, everybody's a though guy behind a screen"
I feel called out, but the parallel is too good 👍
Aren't the squirrels asking you to refill the bird feeder?
Basically, yes. The squirrels want some food from the human. They know that people fill the feeders, and the ones they can get to are probably empty. A lot of people also feed the squirrels from right out their windows, so sometimes they come up to windows looking for people to feed them. The cats are mostly a non-issue to the squirrels. In the squirrels' minds, they think they can escape from cats (and the vast majority of the time do) and so they aren't that scared of them, plus they understand how windows work. Though there really are squirrels that will play games with cats, these ones looked like they were looking past the cats into the house looking for humans with food.
I thought that squirrel was pretty pudgy...
at first I thought the squirrel was dumb and wanted to play but he obviously knew when the window was open. thanks for sharing
Darn, that's what I like about UA-cam. You put a lot, a lot of effort to film your cats in the right situation, editing, just like a whole movie studio and then this excellent result. Good master, good cats, great combination.
+GeminiXT thank you so much for the very positive comment. I find that very encouraging. It means a lot to me that you took the time to write a thoughtful positive comment. I love to share the videos of my cats as they bring a lot of joy to me. I like to share that Joy with others

Oooo like train them to press a bottom and boom
I was waiting for the squirrel to come up when the window was open and the cat would smack it in the face.
That would be hilarious. Funnier if he just do it and go back sitting in front of the window looking at the confused squirrel.
Grim Revan lmao
Lol my jack russell would have grabbed a squirell and eaten in front the other squirells. He was a savge killing machine. Loved people but hated any other living creature. Didn't care how big or small I mean he truely didn't give a fuck. I miss that dog. RIP Pattrick
I love how the owner of the cat is really enjoying the scene and loving the animals 😍😍
I think squirrels just like to play, all day long when I'm driving I have squirrels playing chicken with me. Running back and forth like a game!

Victor Garcia LOL! 👏
Thank you for not declawing kittys
We have seen what it does to a cat to be declawed many years ago when we adopted two cats that were declawed. It makes them so demoralized and timid.
FROSTY Life It’s easy to see that you’re a good person. I wish there were more people like you in this world. Take care.
@@cassiescreations9828 Thank you for your dedication & time invested in caring for the feral cats😇😻

Sadie looking like what in the world..." he's like a good puppy?" "Let's see if he'll make a good guard dog, too."
"Remember you said that when Mason poops in your freshly dried laundry."
Squirrels are smarter than most people give them credit for that cat didn't stand a chance the squirrel knew where it was going to go if it happened and it was way faster than the cat.
Exactly, I agree. If I thought the cat could ever catch the squirrel I would have never let him try.
I've had cats that ate squirrel pretty regularly. They are quite capable of catching them.
Go get em Mason. I wish I could have seen that squirrels face thinking “ oh no it can climb trees too.”👍😁😎
the way Mason runs in the snow 😂

From conspiracies to a cat chasing a squirrel...
My recommendations has gone nuts.

They are trying to even out the views over all UA-camrs. Equality!!!!! xD
Lol that's odd I've spent 2-3h watching alien/paranormal stuff. First on homepage upon my return, mason the squirrel hunter. Am not disappointed lol

Yes, I see my cat got too brave. He only likes to chase, but I will not let him try this anymore.
These comments are so rude. Your video was very innocent, cute, and funny. I hope these nasty comments don't get you down.

As for the rude ppl that haven't been taught... if you don't have anything nice to say then keep your pie hole closed. You can obviously see you love you animals and that they are like your children, you know their temperaments so you obviously wouldn't let them out if you thought they had the disposition to fight a wild animal and possibly be harmed.

OL School Sorry, Hollywood only hires pussy's!
Funnt
I meant....funny!
That is so funny!
Love the way he comes right back in! And yes, the squirrels had it coming all right!

Sadie: You forbid me to chase the squirel. Me! A dog! A SQUIREL! And you said the cat is better than me? OK, no problem man, I know where your shoes, keys and other yummy things are... :-D
Mason: I'm like a puppy? Why are you insulting me? :-D
I love it!!! Hilarious!! Mason is the sweetest little guy :)
He is a very sweet cat!
