  • This trailer has been my home for almost 2 years, and I have put it through its paces. In this video, I answer the questions of what's worked out, what's broken, and overall, what do I think?
This video was filmed on Shoshone-Bannock land.

Super helpful, thanks! We just picked up the 2021 and it's nice to know that I made a good choice.

Great vid! We have the same make and model and are happy with ours also although we do not live in ours so our experience is limited. We stumbled upon the Kodak while looking for an RV. I’m an engineer and I think the aluminum frame is what makes it so sturdy, not many campers have this. I’m glad you are enjoying your travels!

Thank you so much for posting these two videos about your Kodiak Cub. I'm at the other end of the age spectrum, single, and considering buying a small trailer in which to travel. Having never towed a single thing and not needing much space, I want to be safe and happy and I think a small unit such as the Kodiak fits the bill. Your videos and experience are helpful and encouraging.

She's the exception and not the rule but sure has it down almost to a science... The Kodiak Cub is a great trailer to consider. And as she notes, the tortion suspension is superior particularly on that size unit... A weight distributing hitch is a must but doable. Sincerely, attempt to locate a two or three year old version of this trailer so all the "bugs" are worked out and you will do fine with AT LEAST the tow vehicle she has. No VW's allowed.

My wife and I have your exact same model. We only camp part time so your comments about issues will be things I will be looking for. I can second your comments about craftmanship. Anytime you have component stapled together you are going to have issues. I have a grown son that camps with us on occasion and the lower bunk started coming apart after only a couple uses. A trip to Home Depot to get screws helped correct that problem. I heartily concur about the absence of the window over the bed in newer editions. I love looking out that window lying in bed! I wouldn't have bought the camper without that window, Dutchmen - what where you thinking when you decided to remove it?!!!!
    Over all an excellent video!

Great video. Looks like you have had some great experiences so far with your rig. Keep the videos coming. I doubt it takes that much time for someone as pretty as you to clean-up.

Awesome review. Very thorough too! Thank you!! Just purchased a 2020 one and totally agree about the window above the bed 😕. Happy trails!

Great video, thanks for sharing. We love our 2019 175BH too. We aren’t on grid much either and opted to take out the microwave for more storage dish/food storage space within reach of the kitchen. We have been happy with that choice, but perhaps you enjoy an occasional microwave popcorn😜. Happy trails!

We have been considering the same thing! We’re only in a park 2-5 days of the month, and sometimes even forget it’s there until after we’ve heated something up on the stove 🤪

I liked this floor plan and watched your older video a year back. I came close to buying it. Seems it would have been a good choice. My family ended up going bigger and getting a massive class A for the space. It is great but limits where we can go. Maybe a few years down the road I'll look at whatever descendent model exists and buy one for solo exploring. Thanks for the in depth update.

LOL, you are hilarious with your dry sense of humor. I commented on your first video and was just wondering how you were doing and if you had stuck during the pandemic. You did with a great attitude....or at least on video. As for your humor, I wonder how many times it goes right over other people's heads... My Brit friends have commented on the oblivious nature of U.S. Make it obvious or don't bother. Love the out takes. We just traded in our Aspen Trail version of this unit at what we paid for it. (with the small fridge/big counterspace) but we are weekend warriors and OLD. So we went up to a 28 foot with full bunks and a slide. It will limit us to a degree but it is my compromise for her.. Nice, (particularly the space but RV quality has declined since they cannot pump them out fast enough to meet demand...and we don't have Amish on the west coast... Fortunately, I'm handy and don't even bother the dealer... My major systems are good so, I can take care of the rest. Lots more bells and whistles to go bad however. So, I await eagerly future cussing sessions. Triple A premium and an extended warranty are in play.
Your observations on how camping has changed pre-Covid vs Post-Covid would be of interest. All of the newbies are a real pain but fortunately living in Montana, we know all the secret places and even know how to work the reservation systems online. Shhhh. The dealer said he cringes sometimes watching newbies drive off the lot... I've seen more than one destroyed set of stabilizers but as you and I know, that is inevitable... My dealer says he spends half his time convincing people that no, that VW Beetle will NOT tow a 30 travel trailer. He is saving his profits because he expects a crash and burn within a year or so with a thousand one year old trailers coming back in on consignment or on Craigslist and so, his business will suffer as a result... Your cat seems...content...more than content. We take our old girl with us, former feral mommy and surprisingly she loves it while ensuring compliance and obedience from the lesser four legged creatures of the canine variety. Wishing you well... Karnat in Montana...

Looks like she sits downhill when hooked on the truck, level is better. Our's did the same, we added an air bag and made it dead level. Super thorough review, thank you.

We would love to add airbags! We got tembrens and that helped level the truck out a ton, though the ride could be improved with some airbags. Thanks for the complement!

Nice video. Thanks for the update on how it’s holding up. We finally bought a rig mid July and we did not go with The kodiak. Not because we didn’t want to but because we couldn’t find one in our area. We ended up purchasing a 2020 passport 239ml by keystone. I like it very much. Sadly the 19 prevented us from getting what we wanted due to short supply. Also parks that we would frequent and tent camp are closed or only open to county residents. That being said we haven’t been able to enjoy it much. Actually not at all. We see it through the window and just fantasize being at a camp site. Lol. I envy what your doing. There’s so much beauty out there and your living amongst it all through out the states. Hopefully soon we’ll be enjoying the beauty of a park somewhere, anywhere. Hahaha. We were considering booking a site in our local rv park just to try it out. You’ll never guess what happened. Well maybe you will. It was booked. Apparently construction guys book at the local rv places while they’re in town working on projects. I didn’t know that was popular for construction workers. Anyway this is becoming a novel so I’ll let you know when we take it out for the first time. Have a great afternoon.

The parks are SO crowded right now! Depending on where you live, that should be easing up, do you have a state park close to you? I find those to be really good places to start, wide lanes and not too much traffic on the off season. I hope you can get out soon!

Hi I love your humor. I was blessed to live in a motor home but think about selling my house and etc. I always felt rvs are not made to run the ac or heater full time. I enjoy the minimalist lifestyle. Be safe, happy, and healthy.

You would be surprised. I ran one for 13 years without any maintenance except fin cleaning and most of the time on generator... They either work...or they don't and if they do, it will be forever with but a bit of maintenance.

I bet if you got rid of those “p” rated tires and upgrade to “LT” tires, you’ll balance that truck out better 😁 not to mention the 4 wd is heavier than the 2wd.. That bed cover is probably not helping with the weight either.. cool video though.
