Who would have known that this once clean cut boy from Northern Ontario Canada with a shaky voice at the best of times could transform into one of the best song writers performers with the most passion for his craft and refused to sell out to the mighty corporations. You are a Canadian national treasure for the world to enjoy. Keep on rockin in the free world Neil.
At the end of the day Neil can Rock your brains out or can put tears in your eyes with his lyrics and he can put a smile on your face with the gentle ones in other words he has music for all emotions who else that is still living can do that at his age,????????? NO ONE,love you man,🥰
Neil young is most likely one of the best artists ever the raw passion in his voice is extremely real. One of a kind ,no doubt about it. My favorite album of the early 70 =s I think it was released in 1970 after the gold rush. I trip out and totally get lost and doesn't really matter what is going on around me at the time, I just get lost in the album for me it is for sure a surreal experience. In concert is beautiful, the people the raw music and of cause Neil young, one of a kind. Thanks kindly !!! :-)
listening to an interview with him friday he kind of said it al by saying that he wanted to make and produce music his way and continuously pursued new projects zen and now. The Barn is great on UA-cam Got to see him live once withe The Inrenational Harvesters The Judds opened He has dabbled in every gendre and dabbled well
A great rendition of what this band was always, and still is, all about. 4 guys who can cook up a storm, anytime, anywhere. El bande los Crazy Horse es fantastico.
18:11 minutes Cortez fuckingunbelievable ....500 years from now someone will come across this and sit in awe and wonder what it was like to live in a time when music this incredible was being made.
Perfectly stated Sir! Reminds me the first time I heard "Words " on the radio while driving with a friend in his '69 Chevy Malibu... great nostalgic times.
Well said my friend. When I first heard this extended jam I had just started alternative medicine for anxiety. I figured out the chords and the gist of the solo I played for hours. The neighbours said it was the best sounding thing they've ever heard coming from my house. Lol. I'll never forget it.
I absolutely love Neil and all his counterparts through the years!!! I hold Neil “the godfather of grunge” Young # 1 in my book!!! ALWAYS!!!!!! Lets not forget all the great musicians that has been such a big part in all of his masterful work!!!
Jam opens into that western influenced, psychedelic, old surf music vibe.... surf-a-delic country tripping. Great music to turn up loud and do house work to....
+Jane Arge Great description of this orgasmic jam really one of the best versions of Cortez ever!! I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during this entire practice session it's so deserving of album release.Keep on Rocking in the Free World & glad to meet someone else who knows just how special this stuff from Neil really is!! ENJOY!! :-)
Have loved Neil for over 50 years!!! He is still going strong at nearly 80 years old!! This is awesome!!! Very concert-like!!! Thanks for posting this!!
@@margaretstoner4701 Margaret dear, if you consider Mozart, who wrote his first concerto at the age of four years, as merely a "pianoist" (sic) and who composed sublime music like the Requiem Mass, The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute, who wrote more than 600 pieces of music before his 36th birthday; if you think his Jupiter Symphony is on an equal par with, say, Neil Young's "Welfare Mothers," then, as they say, there's no accounting for taste.
I first heard falling from above around 2003. I thought he was singing directly about my grandpa. It was my gramps to a tee! I lost him in 2010 and miss him so much. Whenever I play falling from above it always brings tears to my eyes. I believe it always will. Thanks Neil.
hope Neil Young keeps making this type of heavy spacey type guitar driven jamz. thankyou for this, the online stoner stations should be playing this, and T Bone, amazing work here.
I met a love of mine still that he just found me several months ago. Years ago he played the harmonica and guitar and sounded just like him. Everyone in the community I lived in and couple counties over loved hearing him play and sing. That’s been over 30 some years ago and what a wonderful blessing I got to enjoy with him and so many friends.
I've been listening to Neil and Crazy Horse for days, especially the Rio 2001 version of Cortez, and I just can't stop. Then, while surfing, I found this. Wow, what a freakin' post. Thanks so much. I was giving Americana a shot yesterday. I wasn't real thrilled when I heard they were releasing standards, but once I got over myself, I gave it a listen. Played it five times straight through. Then I went looking for Psychedelic Pill releases. Now this. Unreal. Thanks again.
You can tell by the way it starts that the first jam is based on "Why do I Keep Fucking Up". Neil quit smoking dope in 2011 and he was really scared about playing sober. It only makes sense that he got back on the Horse for his new start. He never falls off. He ain't no Hendrix but damn he kills a guitar. He's beautiful.
been sober for almost seven years now but i still need to kick cigarettes the worst addiction like heroin. like the Beetles stopped drugs and turned to meditation.
Neil with the Horse goes places with old Black that very few if any (Garcia) would have the balls to try during a live performance. Check out the bootlegs from the 76 tour, raw Horse at their best.
I remember hearing this the day Neil dropped it ,so i dropped some mushrooms 🍄 what a few hours playing this on a loop, you gotta love Neil Young & Crazy Horse 🐎

I wish he'd take about 20 or 30 of the best of these practice jam sessions, paste them together, add some visuals of beautiful antique cars, early days, recording studios, saving Earth, etc. and make a Neil & Crazy Horse Ambience. 3 or 4 hours of this.
This was published on NY's site for a while as free listen - video had a camera wondering around the darkened studio - interesting stuff - don't know if it's still there though - was widely published in online newspapers at the time - the first smell that Young Crazy Horse had reconvened.

Is Crazy Horse known for their long dusty grooves like this? Just getting into them. Down By The River and Cortez the Killer (maybe just Neil Young) are just what I’ve been looking for. Like proto-desert rock
