- The reason for our trip to Scandinavia was to run the extra parkrun on Swedish National Day. This video is from Malmö Ribersborg parkrun on Monday 6th June 2022. We chose to run this parkrun so that we could visit two parkrun countries within one visit by spending a few days in Denmark (I filmed Amager Strandpark parkrun in Copenhagen on the Saturday) before heading over the Øresund Bridge into Sweden.
Malmö Ribersborg parkrun was a gorgeous parkrun with so many wonderful locals and parkrun tourists. A defininite party feel and a great way to celebrate Swedish National Day… although the locals said they don’t really celebrate! We rounded off our Swedish experience with Fika and then a skinny dip in the Ribersborgs Kallbadhus along with a traditional naked sauna.
This whole parkrun tourism trip was a wonderful experience and I am already looking forward to next year!

Awww thanks Karen 🤗 that's so lovely of you to say. It can be hard at times but it's definitely made easier by the wonderful parkrun community as Poppy feels so at home with her parkrun family which is just brilliant for her, and for me as well. But honestly Poppy is the best travel companion, I'm so so lucky! 😃 Definitely up for parkrun tours in the future 🤗

Katherine was so awesome and yes the start pic was great! A great pic to have as a reminder of a great day! The caterpillars... I have NEVER seen anything like it?! So so so SO many! The Swedish chocolate was enjoyed too quickly to be able to tell you anything other than it tasted delicious! Ha ha! It was a fantastic weekend, like you say sooooooo many familiar faces! We Fikaed for HOURS! 🤣 A super kind parkrunner (who Poppy named Fluffy the Destroyer 😂) kindly gifted this to Poppy after she fell in love with his Viking outfit. We luckily managed to get it through security and home safely! I was a bit worried about whether we'd manage! 🤣
Great overview of a fabulous day. Thank you. Not sure how much destroying this particular fluffy can do without his Viking helmet but I’m glad it is being put to good use. 😊

Poppy is a right little Diva.
I'm sure you mean this in a good way but the definition of diva is a woman who is self-important, temperamental and difficult to please so it's a word I really dislike 🙃 Poppy isn't temperamental in the slightest and is the easiest child to please. I'm super lucky as she's the best travelling companion 😃 I'm just hoping things don't change too much in the teenage years! 😱🤣🤣🤣🤞
@@NicolaRuns It was meant in a good way, much like my cousins who twisted me around their little fingers when they were Poppy's age, and now they are in their 40's whenever we meet up, the ladies still try it on.

Thanks Rich, you're right... It did feel like a lot more! I think they've got it dialled when it comes to attitudes to nudity. A naked body isn't sexual?! It's just a body! I was laughing with some of the Swedes though who were saying no way would they get their British friends in there 🤣 It was a totally liberating experience. It would be good if we had something similar here that was normalised rather than being something to feel weird about! 🙃

Thanks 🤗 the warm up was slightly controversial as parkruns aren't meant to do warm ups but it was so fun and brilliant to do so yeah... I wish we had them here too! 🙃
Hi Nicola, it's always a pleasure to watch your videos. You give me so much positivity. I love to see how passionate you are about parkruns. I am personally not always keen on them but this international parkrun tourism you are doing is superb way of having a little holiday and still being able to do what you enjoy. I love the fact that in both Denmark and Sweden there was the sea really close to the parkrun route and that you could go in the water. Is this travelling parkrun community some kind of a group on social media?
Awww thank you 😃 I absolutely adore running by water so I chose these parkruns specifically 😍 I was tempted to head to the oldest parkrun in Denmark but I couldn't resist the call of the sea! I find parkrun an awesome way to travel, it's so special to be able to tap into gorgeous communities abroad. There are a few Facebook groups. If you search for parkrun tourism then a few will come up and you can see which suit you best 😃 they're great to be able to ask people which parkruns are good if there's a certain something you're after (like parkruns by water) 🌊
Why are poppies associated with war? Great vid btw
Thanks, I think poppies grew on the battlefields after WWI and so they became used as a symbol of remembrance. They're such a beautiful flower ❤️
