Although the goal for the next nine weeks is to increase your overall fitness, the purpose of phase 1 is to build some muscle using basic, old-school hypertrophy techniques. Meaning, we're going to be training like bodybuilders in the pursuit of muscle growth. Along with this ultimate goal, phase 1 was programmed to help you get to know some of my favorite techniques and exercises, and learn at which intensity level you should be working.
Phase 1 begins with a shoulders and abs workout that you can see in its entirety in the video below. I take Steve Weatherford through the whole thing so you can see exactly what I want your warm-up to look like, how to perform each exercise, and how to complete the conditioning.
Remember though: Steve Weatherford is a professional athlete, so don't compare yourself to him or worry about doing as much weight as he does. However, take your attitude and intensity cues from him. He'll show you how a workout should be done.

I tried the landmine barbell press during my last push day. Man I felt muscles working in my core and hips that I never felt before. Definitely a killer exercise 10/10

Nick is by far the best trainer you can find on UA-cam. Steve is also an amazing student, he has a great attitude and asks amazing questions even though he is obviously a master of training himself. They are a perfect duo that compliment each other perfect for a workout program tutorial... these are some of the most unique exercises you can find and you can tell this detailed program is designed for elite athletes. Great work by everyone involved and thank you. I just wish all the videos for the program were on UA-cam.

Can't understate the flow of this trainer. He converses with his client, while giving constructive criticism seamlessly in a way that any client would feel at home with. I to am very good at this with my clients, but for some reason I've always struggled in my head with how I look when I loose count as a trainer. Often times I'm focused on many different aspects of their form, while verbally coaching them, and naturally it is easy to lose count. He says "10 seconds you count while i talk, you be the muscle i'll be the brains." It may be a small comment but a very good way of letting the client know that they are responsible for something small like counting, while you are focused on bigger areas. sometimes they assume your accountable for everything, which is impossible.
So glad this was recommended, where have I been.... easily 1 of the channels best video, smooth as butter but hardcore and tasking

I am a big fan of this very functional and muscle coordination based approach to training. I'm gonna use many of the shown exercises myself in the near future. Also, i got the same under armour pants the guy is wearing, best sports pants ever.
