Unlike the original video, this features actual current Modern metal (Spiritbox, Fit For An Autopsy, Electric Callboy, Vola, Jinjer) and not Nu Metal from 2000s. This was made due to the comments of that video talking shit about the diversity and production quality of modern metal.
I like how the last two are both Cannibal Corpse, it really displays the difference between an experienced and technical band and a band full of raw energy and aspiration.
0:38 The Trooper, my favorite song in this video
Thanks

Playing Doom vs Playing Duke Nukem
I prefer Modern metal, but Modern metal is just a wild term. You got "Old Metal" or Classic Metal (which is mostly considered thrash and songs from like 70s,80s + for some reason Pantera), but where do bands from like 2000s fit? Bands like Opeth, Gojira, Mastodon, ...? Because thats the "Modern" metal that I prefer even more.
My metal preference is pretty much limited to Metallica, Disturbed, Falling In Reverse (circa 2017 on up) and Mick Gordon's DOOM soundtracks so yeah idfk. Metal is too broad and just saying what era its from still has a wide range of music
Pretty basic, but my favorite metal bands will always be A7X Slipknot and Korn. Megadeth is the only old metal band I really listen to anymore.
Id suppose Modern means 2010-present. Id put the 2000s in their own category considering the prevalence of Nu metal and core influence in it
I’d consider classic metal to be bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pantera, Megadeth, whereas modern metal are bands like Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, Asking Alexandria, Etc
The elders: listening 80-early 90s music
Me, a Black Sabbath/Judas Priest fan: i'm dead now
They could've done the same with Tool as they did with Cannibal Corpse, have the kids walk up to "Fear Inoculum" while the old-timers rock to "Part of Me" lol
0:10 haha that was so hard.
OLD METAL GANG!!!! Metallica and Megadeth 🤘🏻
CANNIBAL CORPSE is the bridge man! 🤘
I will say. Archspire is amazing. Cant take anything away from them
I usually don't care for technical exhibitions, but archspire somehow make it not boring. 🤘🏻🧒🏼🤘🏻
whats the third and fourth modern ones?
Electric Callboy - Pump it, Vola - Straight Lines
Both are great, but i still prefer old metal songs
The old men were born in the early 1950s and the young men were born around 2000.
to anyone asking " what song at **timestamp** " GET SHAZAM ON YOUR PHONE!! TRUST ME!
Electric Callboy (ex Eskimo Callboy) is awesome 0:18
can I please have songs at 0:00, 0:10 and 0:52?
0:00 Spiritbox - Holy roller, 0:10 Fit For An Autopsy - The Man I Was Not, 0:52 Cannibal Corpse - Inhumane Harvest
@@lapseofjudgment7382 thank you very much
What are the name of the songs?
I think it's about time for me to get a boombox and walk around town listening to old metal😂
if it has riffs it's for me
💯💯💯
Some modern metal is just technicality, brutality and low heavy riffs for the sake of it instead of writing good songs wheras as alot of older bands understand how to write good songs with great sound dynamics
Feel like modern metal is more dynamic than thrash imo.
Bro you're talking about the nichest of niche metal rn, sure, bands with maybe like 200 listens a month can be boring, but I do not know any big modern metal band that writes songs for the sake of technicality and shit
Brutality and heavy riffs?😂

Why do all these modem metal bands vocalists sound like they’re trying to be Blink 182/MCR whenever they’re not doing gutturals? There are other ways of doing cleans that sound less cringe and whiny.
Not all, but lots in Metalcore, which for me is the reason I don't listen to lots of it, even though i love Blink though.
Have to give it to "old metal." Maybe cause I'm "old-er." 🤣
Song minute 0:17 pliz
Electric Callboy - Pump It
Whats the one song at 0:24
Straight lines - VOLA
@@gothskull_9534thanks so much!
yeah so true modern metal is melodic soft slow Bullshit. If someone had told me 1989 there will in the Future be subgenres like symphonic power and dont know how many more wannabe Metal sub genres we would had laugh hard and said p## off with that Poser shit. We had Tras death Speeed Metal and that was all. Miss the good times. Bands like sodom Tankard Destruction vader was and is "In your fucking Face" Meta Bands like l Powerwolf sabaton jinjer and co is rock for lil kids. So TRASH TILL DEATH forever only the only positive outlook is bands from South America like Nervosa Crypta Mictlantecuhtli Insaniah ok portal is also very cool greets from a Metalhead since 1985
aint it funny how all the modern ones nobody can name and also suck?
No
@@raphaelrampinelli8413 yurp
Modern metal just has lots of variety and tons of known bands, so if you dont listen to some specific genres, its tough to know them all.
What song is at 0:22?
Vola - Straight Lines

Not everything
Most of it is garbage lol just a bunch of stomp clap hey intros then 10 minutes of 0-0-0-0-0 djent
@@dadaismotienekasepta most of it is just a parody of old metal bands or just trying to play 1000mph non stop
I think that the classic rage feeling in metal music got completely superficial over time
Ruido radio
Why is it always people who have zero knowledge of new metal making these memes?
Zero knowledge? enlighten me.
@@lapseofjudgment7382 representing all new metal with a 1 sided knowledge of it. Specifically picking whiny bullshit and pedestrian ass deathcore. Pretty sure I heard archspire which would be in a good direction but it's knuckledragging considering the genre. Do better.
@@serpentinefire921 @Serpentine Fire I picked newer bands with latest releases, that i find to be big bands in those genres and in general big in metal.
Sure Spiritbox and Fit for an Autopsy might be as you say pedestrian deathcore and metalcore, but nevertheless they kind of represent the sound those genres i believe.
Electric Callboy are a gimmick band, but they are huge at the moment, and also my own recency bias of starting to listen to their music had effect.
Vola is a great modern prog band, i think that pick was pretty decent for the modern prog side.
Jinjer, again huge band, unique, everybody has heard Pisces from them, and are now kind of staple of modern metal imo.
Archspire is kind of a meme, there is much better thought out tech death out there.
And Cannibal Corpse is Cannibal Corpse.
I didnt put newer death metal or black metal just based on popularity. From the top of my head i could have picked Gatecreeper, Tomb Mold, Sanguisugabogg, Skeletal Remains, Hath, Groza, Mgla etc ... Would have also loved to feature bands like Opeth, Gojira, Agalloch, etc... but since they are kind of in the grey area of "Modern", i decided not to do it.
