This is the perfect example of how easy it is, due to UA-cam, to learn to play guitar songs. I was surfing the net this morning and listened to a sound recording of John Martyn playing this classically beautiful song and instantly wanted to learn how to play. Then I had a look at a chord chart for it on Ultimate Guitar which was in standard tuning capo’d on 1st fret, but knew it did not sound right in the base, but I figured that at least it gave me the lyrics. Then I found your perfectly performed version in the correct open C tuning capo’d on the 1st fret and can now play it myself, probably because open chord songs are easy to learn. All in about 1.5 hours. Magic. Thank you so much. And of course, now I will check out your other UA-cam vids!
👌
Excellent rendition of the big man. One of my favorites. Well done.
My fave John Martyn song. And you've definitely done it justice. Well done!
Beautiful rendition. Thanks.
Brilliant cover man! The finger picking is lovely
Great 👍
I think John used CACGCE for that bit extra
Yes actually that's the tuning i used. I didn't detune the A string.
What are the chords
I stumbled across this checking out some John Martyn tunes. Superb rendition - let's hear more JM!
I have a few more JM tunes up on my channel...check them out and thanks :)
@@tozguitar I will!
Excellent job.
Great job, really. Perfect rendition, also you captured the essence of the song. Btw that 00018 is gorgeous. How old is it?
Thanks....the martin is relatively new.
I have total respect for this.. see my cover, which you inspired me to do..peace..
whats the tuning?
CACGCE. lt's the open tuning used by John Martyn. Here, beautiful rendition but not totally the good open tuning.
Not the master but still excellent
