Be-a-u-ti-ful! Best tutorial - I picked it up in minutes - been buzzing for 2 days straight! Have loved this song for 35 years and to suddenly be able to play and sing it at 50 is like some kind of re-birth! Thanks so much.
I started playing about a year ago and immediately searched for this - my all-time favorite song (after Anthem). I couldn't play it then (couldn't make a Bm) but happy to be back in 2020, and your tutorial breaks it down in a way that is very easy to follow for me now. Thanks so much.
Thanks Jen, you are a gem, you're teaching style is so naturally encouraging. Big hug!
glad you like my style!
I do like your style too. Easy and cool.

Thank you Jen I love that song because it fits for my voice and I love the words
have fun playing it!
@@jentrani I will Thanks again
nice. a tip if you find the A-Bm change tricky is to start the verse (playing A chord) with your middle finger playing the B string, your little finger on the G string, ring - D, then you just slide up to the Bm position and drop in a barre. whatever works, right?
very good aye, thanks!
Thanks for this!
Super lesson.
R.I.P Leonard Cohen
Hei Jen you make it easy obrigado ;)

+Mark Moroney thank you!
gracias
nice lessoon thanks
Sweet.
Thanks, Barry.
you're welcome
For strumming i've been playing down/down/up/down for verse x4 each chord except the e progression
I like to change up the strumming, too. I get all rhythmic and such! BUM CHUGGA BUM-BUM-BUM-BUM/BUM CHUGGA CHUGGA BUM-BUM BUM!!! Oh, and the little kids singing in the background of the track lift my spirit! Makes me feel like it's my birthday party, ya know?!
that was such a cool lesson a huge thanks from Dublin Ireland, could you please teach us youtubers to play who by fire Leonard Cohen??? pleeeeezeeeeeeee im going to see him tomorrow night in Dublin cant wait outdoor gig :)
Paul..
I'm having trouble synching up voice and strumming at "to laugh - and cry - and cry - and laugh - about it all again." Laugh (E - Esus4) - then E - E7 - then again - E - Esus4. Could you please play for us the chorus - voice and strumming - as well as at least the first stanza ?
I would like the easy versions of some of the chords e.g. Bm etc
Wow
u should write the chord order in the desription or in the end of video that would be really helpful.
thanks!
+bunrei you're welcome!
can you please do a tutorial of the times they are a-changin' bij Bob Dylan?
I love this song. Thank you!!! I support your journey. P.S. Dave Chappelle says hello.
sweet

+Sankhadeep Banerjee you're welcome!

How did you do this without a capo?
I found out just yesterday that Marianne Ihlen died in July (2016). Leukaemia, apparently. I think I'll learn this as my tiny tribute to the pair of them.
whats the name of the guitar?
You are so beautiful. In every way. Thank you for such a wonderful lesson, pretty lady.
Hi! Great tutorial, thank you, but I just can't understand all the chords (I'm italian). Could you write down what comes before E in the verse (I get F something minor) and what's the last chord of the chorus (A and something..)? Thank you, cheers from Italy!
Maybe I’m late but worth the try…….
Verse: A bm D A G D f#m E (you can alternate with E-Esus4-E -E7) A
Chorus: A f#m E A Asus4 A Asus4
Hope this help
Didn’t know you had your own channel!
I do! Hiiiiieeee!
Leonard Cohen played Flamenco Style Guitar 🎸
Thanks very much for this. Love this song and once had to say goodbye to a very beautiful Marianne. You're very beautiful too by the way. Would never have guessed you're a trani, smiley face.
Thanks, This was not bad but Suesanne is kind tough. lol
Q: What is your definition of a "bar Chord" ?
I'm not sure I properly understand your question, but... A barre chord is one where you have to use your first finger to "bar" (or "barre"), all six strings, in order to change the key. The other three fingers then form the chord. See how Jen forms F#min... Imagine if she keeps the chord shape, but moves her left hand one fret towards the nut of the guitar - she'll be making Fmin. Alternatively, imagine that she moves her hand one fret away from the nut - she'll be making Gmin.
Thx. It's a "fretted" chord I call it.
What was it Magua said in The Last of the Mohicans?.. Something to the effect of "white man has many words for same thing"? It's all good, man!
@@Radagast- love that movie
Hi. You explain strumming in a lot of detail. Forgive me for bringing it up, but you forgot to sing at least one verse of this song. I watched till the end because I would have liked to hear it sung with a folk guitar now that you showed the chords.
Dice F sharp minor, mentre l'ultimo del ritornello è A sus 4 :)
Courtney Barnett MTV unplugged
You are so cute
Thanx for the lesson!! PS: Marry me!!
+prodmuscor hahahahahaha
