- Overnight ice camping for Lake Sakakawea walleye. We explain the hub and equipment necessary for ice camping in comfort.
Ice camping has become more popular as equipment continues to improve. We choose a large hub shelter for the additional room. Besides a heater, cots, folding table and cook stove, we also recommend a rubber mat to use as a floor along with electric fans, LED Lights and a carbon monoxide detector. We also show some of the accessories available in the new Clam Hub Lock system that enable you to mount lights, rattle reels and rod holders to your hub bracket that enable you to be more efficient with space.
Lake Sakakawea is a massive reservoir on the Missouri River in western North Dakota that is a tremendous walleye fishery. We breakdown productive ice fishing locations and productive presentations for catching walleye on this beautiful reservoir.

Really nice to have someone as knowledgeable as Jason Mitchell here to show us the way. Thanks for doing it again for us buddy!
You bet!
That's a great spot for sure. I've had some of my best days on that lake in that neighborhood. If my snowmobile wasn't broke down right now, I'd be camping out there, too. Thanks for letting me live it vicariously today. Great video production!
You got that right!
Jason, you are by far my favorite fisherman on UA-cam.
We appreciate you
Fun time camping and fishing! Fun video to watch. Appreciate your close ups of how you bait your hooks, and the gear discussions. Thanks.
Great video JMO! Love to see you on my favorite lake in the world! 🤘🏻🎣
I live on the middle part of sak and ice camp it often. Its intimidating doing it solo being alone for miles. This part of the lake is not popular but I appreciate big water thats not loaded up with resorts, services, and crowding conflicts. Ive always stayed off the main lake due to ice concerns and stay in bays but the last few years the bays have been very low and not attracting much. Hopefully water stays higher this year and the walleye come back into these bays.
Special part of the world!
Brings back lots of great memories on that reservoir :)
It's great to see you camping on ice. There is something special about being out on ice and camping out old school in a tent with some modern technologies that we have these days. Great video, as always, Jason. Keep them coming.
We appreciate you watching!
Jason, your the man. Love all of your ice fishing videos
Looks like a really great time. I’m envious.
👊

👍
I'm going to go Clamping Great Video
Good luck!
Great video
👍
I've always left the tag in them, so they can record future data. I'm not sure how they do it in the Dakota's, but there's usually a website where you can record the length, location, etc...
Yea didn’t think that through very well. Wish I would have just wrote down the tag number or taken a pic. We ate the fish. Sent in the tag info but haven’t got any info back.
Nice
👊
Curious on the info of the tag on the saugar
@@Boogieshoes-s9o interestingly, I registered the info online with the MT FWP and never got anything back. I think there was a quirk with their website.
Yeah, last thing you want to do is remove that numbered tag. Also, if you look closely that fish had an antennae coming out of it's stomach area. Montana fish and wildlife were likely tracking it for a study.
Great video Jason. What did you find out about the fish with the tag?
Nothing yet. Sent in the info. Will be interesting.

Great video! How long ago was this
Last week.
Is there a reason you don't put the carcasses back into the lake not on top of the ice instead of packing it out to go into a landfill?
Why bury the most organic thing in a pile of the most inorganic plastic? This is the fastest way to put the remains back into the ecosystem. Plenty of crows, fox, mink, coyotes will dissapear those carcasses completely within a day
In North Dakota, it is illegal to leave fish carcasses in or on the lake. I imagine the law is in effect so that kept fish can be counted.
Okay that makes sense! I just figured the best place for them would be right back where they could feed other fish in the lake! Tight lines!
@@spitfire490 dependimg on where im at ill either pop the swim bladder and sink them or leave em for the birds. I NEVER personally put fish in a plastic bag then landfill it for eternity. Laws in some instances are beyond stupid.
What's the sauger story??? Thanks
Sent in the info but still haven’t heard anything.
Any word yet? Haha, thanks.
Man I can't wait to get my x600 and do some ice camping!!
Good luck!
How many lines can each angler have in n dakota?
