I don't know what I like better, Clayton's informative videos or his replies to questions. You can learn a lot about gear here before you go out and spend your hard earned money. Keep up the good work Clayton.
WOW! Just, WOW Clayton. Very cool, to think that when I ran across your videos a couple of years ago I didn’t care for them. You are ‘livin the dream’. Keep ‘‘em coming.
@Clayton Schick Outdoors Speaking of putting reflective tape on your ice shelter, that reminds me. I put that tape on the back of my boat and along the trailer too. You should too. Here's why. Years ago my late wife and I packed up the boat and headed north late night after work. Got 20 miles down the Interstate highway when BLINK all the lights on my truck and trailer went out except for the headlights. Thank God I still had those. I even lost the dash lights. Pulled into a gas station and replaced the blown fuse. The lights came back on but as soon as I moved the vehicle blink all the lights went out again. Turned around and headed home down the Interstate without any running lights, brake lights, turn signals, etc. That was a nervous ride. Spent a few days rewiring the trailer only to find out later the problem was the ground wire on the truck side of the trailer wiring harness. As long as the trailer wasn't plugged in I had normal truck lights and the fuse didn't blow but as soon as I plugged in the trailer, blink, all the lights went out. Keep that in mind for your future trailer lights troubles. It might not be the trailer that's the problem but the truck harness. After that I put reflective tape on the boat transom, above the water line but below the level of the travel tarp, and along the sides of the trailer so that if I ever lost all the lights again any other vehicles headlights would reflect off the boat and trailer.
I don’t “like” many videos, and I never comment on videos. But I figured this video deserves both. A lot of work done setting up and filming It all and a great job doing it. Awesome work keep up the great content.
Keep it up Clayton I think your channel is one of the best other there you give the viewers a bit of everything. Information on fishing helpful tips and a run down on gear. Keep doing what your doing. Stay safe out there.
I really enjoy these videos that are all settled in the shelter. It’s incredible how much gear is needed to stay comfortable for overnight. Such great content! Thx for all the hard work you put in for our entertainment.
An insulated shelter makes a huge difference. I started with a clam 1600 (just fabric sides with no insulation) now i stay in the clam Hub with the quilted insulation and that keeps the wind out and keeps the heat in.
Clayton I’m definitely glad that you are hitting the season out with an awesome ice camping video witch is by far one of my favorite videos to watch!! Hopefully you will be able to crush the fish in this video and fry some up for sure!!!
Learned all my walleye ice fishing tips from you over the past year. Targeted walleye for the first time yesterday and limited out with some nice fish in a spot where everyone else is getting skunked or catching dinks so... thanks! Lol
Daaaang!!! That recipe looked amazing! That will be my 1st catch and cook of the year for sure. Really enjoy the videos, keep up the good work. Thanks for all the interesting, fun and informative content.
I absolutely love these videos! Love the tips and Because of u I have ended up sleeping on the ice with my brother and it is by far for most fun and memorable thing I have ever done!!! I ordered some beacons and also picked up some reflectors as well just Becuase u never know what may happen! Thanks Clayton ur the best!
I know it sounds bad but I like when someone tells me they haven't caught in a while. Makes me realize even the best fisherman can have slow days. Im trying to start filming myself going ice fishing half these people dont understand the love and hate relationship it takes to bring all this gear onto the ice. Hell you have two full size sleds full of gear, keep it up Clayton.
Hey Clayton you probably already know this but when you buy the ion quick release bracket it also comes with the peg screw adaptor so you can just use your ion for everything and don’t have to carry around a drill for that purpose. Love the videos 👍
man i just started watching your vids and this one is nerve racking! lol i can see the stress in your face when they just wont bite or bite super lite and there is nothing you can do about it! This was my entire weekend this last weekend! I drove 3 hours and caught 3 fish in 3 days! I was so pisssed off but im gunna go again saturday! Ill never give up!
No ice here yet so these videos are getting me through. Had to put up my new pop up in the basement last night even. Was thinking about visibility at night and the reflective rope is an awesome inexpensive idea and didn’t know about the beacon so looking forward to seeing that.
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors would be sweet to collaborate this winter Clayton, unfortunately travel is limited still, My main channel is Chris Taylor’s Mane Stream Adventures
I have been watching you for so long. I love so much your passion for fishing. I would kill to have the gear you have so I could do what you do every day. You are so lucky. My dream is to fish with you some day!
we only had 6 or so weeks of ice in mid - Michigan. Couldn't go north cause my daughter is having seizures. I love the Bluetti generator / best on the market.
Hi Clayton I have the same pop up hut as you not insulated and I have a good strong heater and I still don't get good heat inside, do you have any tips ? Any would be helpful thank you 🙂
Carbon Monoxide is slightly lighter than air (0.97 SG) and will rise to the top of your shelter (along with your heat), you should put your CO detector at your head level or higher while sleeping, at worst it will warn you of building accumulation of CO before it reaches dangerous levels lower in your shelter. Otherwise, great content as usual Clayton! Stay safe and get outside!
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors All good Clayton, just happy to share knowledge and hopefully keep people safe. The heavier gas you'll likely encounter winter camping is propane, it is denser than normal air and will pool at the floor of your shelter, always venilate well before allowing sources of ignitiion is you smell a propane leak.
Great video Clayton! Very informative. And that meal you cooked....spectacular! My mouth was watering. I'm hoping to get out to do an overnighter on the ice this season. Thank you for all the tips and tricks and showing your setup. You're the best!
i was feeling your frustration in the start of the video. I did have a smile because last winter i was marking so so many fish but unable to hook any. I was going through lure after lure and they wouldn't even hit the minnow. Glad to see i'm not the only one!! Cheers Clayton. Thanks for another great video!!
Can you do a video of how you pack your sled(s)? I’m wondering how you transport the packed hub shelters that are longer than the otter sled dimensions.
I just picked up the bluetti 200ac max with 200W Solar after watching this video for ice camping/fishing. Have you ever thought of a trip to Cascade Idaho?
Just recently bought the monster lodge, wondering if 1 big buddy heater is enough if temperatures hit as low as -20 to -30 degrees Celsius? Or is there a different heater that would be better?
Awesome video again Clayton and I feel your pain on the fish coming in on camera but not biting as it happened to me this past weekend on LOTP! Two quick questions for you: 1.)What size of Dinner bell spoons do you use for walleyes? I bought the mediums but they look small? 2.)How far away do you recommend putting your camera hole from your fishing holes to not spook the fish? Keep up the awesome job 👍🏻
Hey Clayton, i noticed you shoveled the snow off the ice before you set up. How do you find that compared to packing the snow down? I got flooded out last time i camped and was thinking it was due to shoveling before hand. Always looking for tips for the best experience
I could watch your videos all day! I laughed when you handed the rod over to the viewers! I was just jig faster, lower, pound the bottom, slower! Lol😂😂😂😂
Been camping in my monster hub for 3 days now (im on the lake this moment) because of you, caught my pb walley so far, looking for a pb pike The bites basically non existant now though, any tips?
Good ice fishing video and Clayton is the man Mith the legend
By far the best looking cooked-on-ice meal I've ever seen.
I Love watching these videos during chemistry class.
Only videos I can watch for 44 minutes and enjoy every second of it.
Was wondering if people would actually make it to the end haha :) Its a long one!

WOW! Just, WOW Clayton. Very cool, to think that when I ran across your videos a couple of years ago I didn’t care for them. You are ‘livin the dream’. Keep ‘‘em coming.
Gotta be the best vid to date. Fun watching you set up camp. Even more fun watching you struggle in the beginning. Lol. Nice work!
That was fun, I especially like it when you can get fish to come into frame for the Aqua-Vu. Thanks for the video Clayton!
I live in the south and have only ice fished once but I love watching it. I want to be on the ice camping

realistically you only need a cot and a heater in addition to all your normal stuff!

The filming gear is why I need so much gear, if not for trying to film the experience you would need WAY less.
when you coming out with the chakai chakai shirt?! ill take two!!
That's awsome just proves while the bite is off its off makes me feel much better about marking and not catching thanks for that Clay
