Was in this vehicle 2 weeks ago and to be honest, I didn't get the wow feel. It looks like a regular vehicle. Compared to the first time I was in an X5. Everything was different and luxurious
The X5 have a soft limiter for the first 300 or so miles, you can’t rev past 4000 rpm. I think after the break-in, it will sound MUCH better. We just ordered our x5 m60i last week, we are coming out of a Q7 Prestige, which has been absolutely fantastic. But Audi’s reliability has fell below Range Rovers, that instantly pushed us away.
Yea there’s a break in period, doesn’t get much louder, but definitely a fun vehicle! I own a 2012 R8, bullet proof. I’d never buy a RR, when did they become more reliable than Audi? I don’t think that’s right at all.
As a Bimmer boy and fanatic, I personally would go with the X5 😍 But the Audi is really nice don't get me wrong, I just haven't been drawn to Audi SUV's since they produced the Q7 V12 TDI. I liked that model A LOT 💘
I was a big BMW guy as well for a long time. Then I got my Q7 and Q8 and have become really smitten. Great cars and overall as a complete package I think I prefer it to BMW now. They are both really good but the bigger Q Audis are definitely worth considering.
Love our Q8 Prestige! It’s beautiful and drives very solid, sporting for a big girl. Would prefer the V8 in the SQ8 for extra pull, but that fuel consumption is terrible. The air bags and 4 wheel steer really help composure and handling in any conditions. We now have a second big dog so looking for a bigger 3 row, Q7, X7 or GLS; would be nice if Audi would come out with the Q9 soon.
Did you make the switch yet? I own a ‘17 3.0T my wife has the ‘19 Q8. Both are the premium models. The Q8 is a lot quieter than the Q7 and drives really well on the freeway. Like solid fast tank. It drives bigger than my Q7, I think it’s because the door sills are higher up and makes it feel wider. But it does have a cool factor that makes driving it fun compared to the Q7. That being said, the Q7 chassis seems to be more sorted on not perfect payment, and making a U turn is much easier, the Q8 would benefit from rear wheel steering standard, which I believe now only comes on the SQ8 or RSQ8. I love them both. Q8 cool factor is strong tho.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Well, yes it is a stereotype. The younger kids who drive like idiots cannot afford a BMW (or the upkeep on a used one). BTW, you CAN get all wheel steering on the SQ8
X5 has a lot going for it! However Q8 has more roomy back seats and a better sounding V8 with a nicer interior. So very comparable, just depends on what you like
I think the BMW looks better, but practically speaking (for my use, at least) the SQ8 because the interior is a bit more spacious. Also, the Audi does sound a lot better.
Yeah it was a 2023. Hopefully soon I can compare a 2024 with the facelift. But the interior is basically the same, as is the driving experience. So well see if we can check the new one
Faster, less expensive, more cargo capacity, and less piano black. For my $.02, I don't care about the sound...I'm not trying to wake the neighbors with my loud SUV. BMW wins IMO.
@@donwilber1628 yeah buy what works for you. Generally people buy an SUV who have kids and if one is more room more in the back, they’d take that into consideration
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I’ve owned a Grand Cherokee, and an FX45. The back in those and the X5 is plenty comfortable for kids. Most of them are either going to be asleep or deep into this iPhones. I seriously doubt that many people are comparing back seat comfort, more than simply checking to see if the space is too small.
Better idea just to wait for the new X3/4 coming out later this year. They will be getting closer to X5/6 in size 😂 but as fast as X5M60i with 40i engine.
BMW all the way for the simple fact that Audi does not include "auto-brake hold" on their U.S spec cars....A feature that i now use religiously. I mean Audi is just now starting to include remote start, but only through the phone app 😮
The Audi is nice but the X5 just looks so much better inside and out. Keyfob remote start should be standard on vehicles at this price point. Much cheaper vehicles from American automakers have had it for years. BMW finally added it in 2020 but I see Audi, Land Rover, and Lexus are still dragging their feet.
as many pointed out the fair comparison to the SQ8 would have been the X6 M60i but it was not available at that time for testing. Sitting in that SQ8 today and listened to the V8 sound as test driving a car over 100k is not possible where I live without serious buying intention which I don't have right now. I really like the X5 as it's my dream car to have one day but the Audi is and always was on a different level for fit and finish which is just undeniable. Getting into that Audi is like flying business class with Singapore Airlines for the first time - just another level. Driving the normal Q8 is nice super comfortable but it makes zero sound ultra quiet, the same level X5 40i has way more power and more fun to drive for sure. As I am 6'8" I can also testify that there is just a lot or much more space in the Audi compared to BMW although the roof is lower or headroom is just a little less. Space behind the seat is still very big in the Audi compared to pretty much any other car I have ever driven which includes my GMC Sierra 2500HD or my Dodge Durango which has the best driving position of any car including the Audi for me because the headroom is bigger and legroom in the front is just as good as the Audi Q8 or SQ8 for that matter. Audi is way more expensive so they have a lot more money to put into better materials inside. Both suck compared to a Lexus LX570 reliability and a SQ8 with 40.000 miles of the same age will go for the same price as a Lexus LX570 with 140.000 miles while both were the same price when new. Still the Lexus even with 300.000 miles will be much more reliable than both BMW or Audi with 30.000 miles which is just a fact. But driving that Lexus is just driving a boat with no power, huge fuel consumption, hard steering and not much of any room inside. I am old now and need space to fit and looking at Audi SQ8 with super fit and finish and engine sound or fun to drive and cheaper and little more reliable X5 /X6 M60i. In any case I still have my Toyota Landcruiser 200 from 2008 if either SQ8 or X5 M60i will break
As an SQ7 owner who previously had an X5 M50i I can tell you the Audi is far superior to drive. I also drove the M60i when I was looking and it was essentially the same as the M50 but with quieter exhaust. The X5 has better storage space, better nav and included scheduled maintenance. BMW comes with vinyl seats as standard, which is a joke at this price point. If you are in the market drive both and decide for yourself. BTW my SQ7 has 4 wheel steering, I am surprised the SQ8 does not.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I own an X5 M50i and the engine sound settings in the car can be found under CAR/Settings/General Settings/Engine Sound. From there, you can choose between modes such as Driving Mode Dependent, Sporty, or Reduced. The same feature is available on the M60i, but it is called IconicSounds Sporty. While I am not entirely sure how to access it on the M60i, I suggest using your voice to navigate the settings.
I don't get it why sound is an important fact. That's probably not even on my list. Drivability, handle the road, performance and tech are way more important.
Not a bad option! But you are really getting a basic trim when these loaded cars are actually much better for similar money. If you go for a Cayenne, you really want at least a GTS to justify spending the money for the Porsche. Sub $100k Cayenne to me isn't worth it. Your just paying for the brand
@BrosFOURRSpeed nope....check out the drivers leather seating after say 30k miles.. you'll see the difference... the bmw holds up way better than even in a porche
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I have an SQ8, rented an X5 before - maybe I didn’t spend enough time in the back seat area but at 6’2 with another 6’1 person behind me the room from knee to chair was pretty sizable compared to the x5
For what it’s worth, all the exhaust noise you heard from the BMW was pumped in through the speakers. It’s called ‘iconic sounds’. I had an X5 M60i for a few months. Got rid of it because the actual exhaust note is embarrassing. If you’re a car guy that is.
@@Mr_Ali_G ahh, Volkswagen Audi group, that’s what I was asking for..I’ve owned two Audis so far with no problems. My brother is on his second Audi as well..
Not even more fun to drive. You start pushing both hard, and that X5 will leave the Audi way behind man. Go see all the test between the two. It’s why the BMW X5 is second only to the Porsche Cayenne, which is so much more cost wise! And the X5 still wins overall, even over the Porsche!
BMW X5 is really great with exterior and materials but Q8 and Audi in general is 1 step ahead. Among 3 German giants, Merc is the worse among 3. Audi is the best! And Porsche is in WV group too so for me they both same. As far as X5 vs Q8... well... Q8 is a style. Looks sexy and mean! Materials and build quality is a step ahead! Backseat space is so huge, in X5 you like in 5 series, in Q8 you even have more space than X7 lol. You may decline your backseats in Q8 as well.
Uhm, you guys need to do your research. These 2 models are not in the same class. The Q8 should be compared to the X6. The X5 is comparable to the Q7. Also, you're wrong on rear wheel steering. Audi Q8 does have rear wheel steering. How the heck do you guys have a platform? 😂
The Q7 is a 3 row vehicle. And is larger than the Q8. X5 and X6 are the same vehicle just with the 'coupe' look for the X6. Yes the X6 looks more like the exact competitor to the Q8 given the Q8 has somewhat of the 'coupe' look. But fundamentally the X5 is the same thing. Didn't have a X6 to use. Q7 is more of an in between size vehicle compared to the X5 and X7, so it's not a competitor to the X5/6. Yeah didn't know about the rear steering. Sorry I got one thing wrong. Could you please make a comparison of these two so I can see how it's done?
The X5 has an optional 3rd row, so yes you can compare it to the Q7. The X6 and Q8 shares the coupe like styling, sacrificing rear storage, which makes it a better comparison. The Q7 is only a few inches longer, not noticeable and the Q8 was wider, so they were similar in size. I compared the two when I was car shopping. After watching your video, maybe I should start doing comparisons. Apparently the bar doesn't need to be high to get views.
@hallmarcusj there’s no third row option for the X5 on bmws website, so where did you get that info from? Previous gens had it available. But its not anymore Also if there was, I’d trade in my X5 for an X7, not enough space for a third row in my X5. Try filming, it’s not as easy as you think..

lol yeah, that’s what I tell most people.
Was in this vehicle 2 weeks ago and to be honest, I didn't get the wow feel. It looks like a regular vehicle. Compared to the first time I was in an X5. Everything was different and luxurious
A Rhino and a Buffalo meet head to head, the grass will suffer here, great fight
Epic SUV's for sure!
Yeah the X5 is solid! Both are definitely great options! V12 would be cool!
I have the SQ8 and the ride is excellent. So if you like the 7 you love the 8
I was a big BMW guy as well for a long time. Then I got my Q7 and Q8 and have become really smitten. Great cars and overall as a complete package I think I prefer it to BMW now. They are both really good but the bigger Q Audis are definitely worth considering.
I drive a Q7 and know how it rides. The Q8 is next on the docket lol but the BMW is awesome as well
Love our Q8 Prestige!
Q8 feels more sporty and controllable compared to Q7. Q7 is a big behemoth. So, I think the comparison between Q8 and X5 is the best option here.
@@dmenshikov- Q8’s best comp is an X6.
@@BenHillFinest maybe only because of design
X5 is a classic but like you said, the sportback looks gorgeous, if i was to get suv, would go with x4 or x6 m series.
Yeah can't go wrong with the X5. The coupe style is very cool for sure. I think both brands have done well with these

X5 has a lot going for it! However Q8 has more roomy back seats and a better sounding V8 with a nicer interior. So very comparable, just depends on what you like
And the ease of use of the touchscreens on the SQ8 is no small matter.
the Q8 is such a weird car, huge but not incredibly more practical than the same class, sporty but not as sporty as the others in the same class.
BMW more lit 🔥 💯

I dont think thats a 2024 SQ8 because 2024 was a facelift for the Q8 series and that one is not it.

Q8 is from 2018
BMW is 2024

that's cause garbage can't break 😂
adaptive suspension on bmw doesnt have button to lower, only pneumo
On my X5, I have the ability to change the height with my adaptive suspension..
as many pointed out the fair comparison to the SQ8 would have been the X6 M60i but it was not available at that time for testing.
Thanks for sharing.
No contest! Audi
The SQ8 is pretty sweet!
Both are great, I bought the X5 over the Audi and haven’t look back.
The Q8 does as well, I misspoke on that.
There's an option in the X5 to increase the engine note. When you have the sound on it's loudest setting, it sounds phenomenal.
Where is that located?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I own an X5 M50i and the engine sound settings in the car can be found under CAR/Settings/General Settings/Engine Sound. From there, you can choose between modes such as Driving Mode Dependent, Sporty, or Reduced. The same feature is available on the M60i, but it is called IconicSounds Sporty. While I am not entirely sure how to access it on the M60i, I suggest using your voice to navigate the settings.
I don't get it why sound is an important fact. That's probably not even on my list. Drivability, handle the road, performance and tech are way more important.

I wouldn’t say Audi is a step ahead. I own an Audi and bmw, both are great depending on what works for the buyer.
But its not anymore
Also if there was, I’d trade in my X5 for an X7, not enough space for a third row in my X5.
Try filming, it’s not as easy as you think..
