Introducing Newborn Baby To Our Dogs! They're So Excited!!

- Hey everyone, it feels like yesterday we were here for the first time going through this! This time we have even more fluff! We're a big advocate of this stage, for those of you who have followed the channel before, our dogs know they're expecting change, they sense pregnancy and for Phil and Niko, they've been through this before. Whilst they know and we can anticipate their reaction we like to go through these initial transitional steps. It's important to stay calm, and praise your dog's calm behaviour too. Keep them feeling included rather than pushing them away. and above all else, never leave your dog and your baby unsupervised despite how much you trust them.
A dog is as much a family member as the child. They were here first and they too can be affected emotionally by distancing, exclusion and stress. It's unfair to turn their world upside down and not afford them the opportunity. Think of as many lifestyle changes as possible that’ll occur after your baby is born, and get your dog used to them well in advance - this will minimise stress when your newborn comes home. They can be just as loving as you to their new sibling!

@@hannahr.3773 Yes. He seems to understand that this is something I have to learn to recognize. This is a smell that I have to remember belongs here. Following Phil's lead, I think the other two dogs are getting the point. Yes, the calmness is very important. This is something new, but not threatening.

Seriously putting hats on dogs and cats to prepare them for the baby is ridiculous.
Phil's the man!! He's not messing around.. Doing his homework .. making sure to smell everything with baby's scent. I think he's ready for the meet up😊

I admire how you all take your time and introduce the fur babies to their human siblings. Seems like Phil and Nikko are taking the their responsibilities very seriously with those sniffs. Teddy will be the fun brother.

This family makes me think everyone should have a dog in their family. And the beauty of having big dogs. I know little ones are easier to manage and have in the home but this makes the bigger dog very appealing!

What a beautiful family of pups, a kitty and of course the babies you two are raising as you connect them all. So brilliant how you introduce the blanket and clothes, especially loved watching the one sweetie goldie with tufts of fur who seems so keen. Surely they all will be great siblings and protectors. Phil is sooooo PERCEPTIVE and INTELLIGENT !
Over the years we've suggested having the baby brought into the house in the carseat, placing the baby down on the floor or an ottoman with your hand on the handle. This gives you control if the pack gets too excited and also by not cradling baby there is less chance of jealousy or dominance. Keeping voices calm helps the dogs take in all the new smells and sounds. Congratulations on adding to your delightful pack!

1st time discovering these dogs absolutely beautiful! It takes me back 16 years ago when my son was born I had a couple of large dogs that were multiple breed And everyone on Earth was worried but me about how they would handle The baby. Of course they were over the top wonderful. R.I.P. Max and Ludwig!

Congratulations! I wasn't expecting our little fella to be here to quickly. One minute Phil is laying across your legs with his paw on your belly, and then on yesterday I see a title about Mia and her other "siblings" meeting their new brother. I was screaming and clapping and thinking how it wasn't that long ago when Mia was a newborn. It's been adorable watching her grow and gives all of her kisses to the baby.
