Installing Winch on Ford Bronco!!

  • The day after I got my bumper put on, I was able to finally get my winch installed on the bronco.
    I had a vision of using a 500 amp isolator so there wasn't a hot wire always running outside of the "exterior shell" of the bronco. So I wanted to take you along as I mounted up the winch and electrical setup to make it all run.
    I'm super excited with how that turned out. Let me know what you think!

    Looks good: wonder how does it affects the front camera? Also I'm sure you know that those aux wires are also in the back behind the cargo panel on the passenger side

      It does block the camera a little bit. Might relocate it in a few months. And yes, I'm going to use the rear wire to trigger a charger in the back.

    Great vid as always. Just a suggestion if you run out of thread on that grounding post, like you pointed out - run a bolt (M6, IIRC) through the open hole next to it. Ford's (super spendy) winch kit includes a ground cable with a terminal sporting an integrated bolt designed to go into that opening. Not sure where we'd find such a thing in the free market, but hey - simple bolt, washer, and nut, and you now have another grounding post.

    There are other ways to attach two metal objects together besides the common threaded fastener.
    Rivets, industrial epoxy's, magnetics, clamps ect.

    How much does the winch block the front facing camera? With the solenoid off to the side like that I would think it wouldn't be too bad.

    How does the 360 camera look with the winch installed ? Thx :)

      It is a little blocked but still usable. The offset control box helps.

    I like the cutout solenoid idea, How is the ACC working and reacting with the relocation and grating cover

      I had to pull the decorative cover off the winch bumper. It wasn't happy when things were wet.

    i am in the process of building a offroad recovery vehicle found a 2009 ram 2500HD Hemi 4wd it was in a salvage yard missing lots of body parts i am putting a 1950 Dodge cab and custom bed will have 5 winches front and rear are rebuilt warn 8274 with all the upgrades side winches are 1 badland 12,000 and other side is a warn i8000 and it will have a boom with a apex 12,000 winch on the boom . installing a welder and using one of the york engine driven compressors for onboard air. boom will also swivel 180 degrees where can also do side lifting. haven't figured out the outrigger setup yet. I have a 1966 D500 Dodge with a Holmes 500 twin boom pto wrecker thats what gave me the desire to figure out how to do the rotation of boom have all that worked out except for the outriggers. i joined the offroad portal and getting ready for harder recoveries. i have a 1994 Ram 2500 4wd that i use now but always want more the Holmes is 2wd hard pack only. hope the bronco works out for you hated to see you leave Jeep but life goes on

    Please ket me know if that winch slides forward on you at all. As mentioned in the previous video comments, I have the JCR winch plate that has the same slotted holes. I also pushed the winch back in the tray and I feel like I really torqued the bolts down, however, I believe the winch has still shifted forward after some heavy use. This is my first winch, so user error has not been ruled out. lol. Thanks again!

    I like your new Bronco and winch. Super clean wiring. I like the Silinoid with the trigger switch. I'm going to do that with my JKU. How long is your winch line?

    • @JustinKingOffroad
      @JustinKingOffroad  Рік тому +1

      I believe the factory length is 100 feet. Though of course you can't really use all that. My guess is 90 useable.

      @@JustinKingOffroad Thanks for the fast reply. I have seen you shorten up your synthetic line on several videos with your xlock. Wondering if you were going to keep your line that long or shorten it up?

    • @JustinKingOffroad
      @JustinKingOffroad  Рік тому +1

      @@sergenewberry420 I'm going to keep it full length now. I've ran into more situations where I've needed it.
