Critically acclaimed musician Ted Yoder is widely considered “the Bela Fleck of the hammered dulcimer." Ted is a National Hammered Dulcimer champion. He’s released five beloved and critically acclaimed solo albums, and become a master educator of the instrument.
Ted has been profiled in the Kearney Hub, Huffington Post, and on NPR’s All Things Considered show, among many other features, profiles, and reviews in regional and
national tastemaking outlets. On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Ted became something of a household name when a Facebook Live video of him from his Live From The Orchard series playing Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” went viral. When the song wasn't going the way you wished , you could have edited or started over . You didn't and this gets my respect . You are the best performer of the hammered dulcimer I have ever seen and I've them played all over the UK - Europe and the States . Congrats to you Mr. Yoder . Your talent is much appreciated .
only you knew you messed up haha so funny. This rocks thanks for sharing your talent with the world!
That is great how you are so real! Your personality comes through in these videos. Amazing song btw. I just watched the Facebook Live replay of this song and had to hear it again!
So my pet bird likes this song alot. Music in general tends to calm him down (he's a feisty boy) but there are very few sounds he'll actually chrip to consistently. Now I'm trying to figure out what this song has in common with the nightcore version of "I Am Machine" (a pitched up metal rock song).
Awsom! Hammered dulcimer is one of very few instruments I listen to. Your playing is great.
Thank you. Appreciate you watching and listening.
Thanks yet again from this subscriber. I just have to listen again.
That is a Great song Ted! Love it! Great Performance!
You have got to be the best player of this instrument ever your talent is beyond belief
God bless
Great song n playing! Enjoyed your humility! Your very good! Thank you for sharing with us.
Beautiful! Inspirational.
That's so wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure. Thank you. 🙏
I had no idea you messed up but I sure enjoyed the restart! Thanks for being real with it. :). Love the effect of the dampers. I understand how they can enhance a piece now. Waiting for my dulcimer!
This song is absolutely gorgeous!
Hadn't seen this yet, inspired originals are so difficult to get just how you visualize to perfection. Another I can DEFINITELY hear in a movie!💯⭐wish I new a producer & not just performers. Very similar to my piano originals in college 40 yrs ago♥️♥️
Love this!
One of my favorites for sure...
Love love love listening!
Can you please do a cover of
To Zanarkand? Beautiful song. Would absolutely do a backflip if I heard it on the H. Dulcimer.
I love the hammered dulcimer. I had a friend, Pheland Barthen who played the HDulcimer and introduced me to my hero Rich Mullins. Changed my life.
Awesome!
Do you want me to play this song without the dampers or were you just wondering if I play without dampers in general? My goal in this song was to give the impression of rain and such with the damper feel.
I like the dampers. This piece seems best with little damping.
A version of each sounds wonderful, if we’re not being too demanding. ;))
I have come to the point in life I have developed a standard of purity in music and at present leaning towards acoustic instruments and i am totally fascinated with the hammer dulcimer, listening to you perform the selection is more than uplifting keep up the excellent love of the instrument!
Thank you Wendal. Appreciate the encouragement.
Has to be my favorite of all your songs
Michael Lechlitner I remember you liked this one when I first created it. :) Remind me to play this at your house show for you.
In total agreement Michael .
Hi I was singing with Chorale last night when you played for Sail Away!
Here you play a Dusty Strings Hammered Dulcimer. Is it the D600?
you mention tuning at the beginning. How long does it take to tune, and and how often does it need to be tuned? Obviously with a trained ear it only take a second to do a string but is each and every single one string done at one time or can you tension them all a little as well? Seems like being under constant tension would also mean it would just need it so often.
Good questions. It can go faster but it still takes 20 minutes to tune the whole thing. And yes, each string is on its own tuning peg so all individually tuned. I have to tune it every week and when touring, before every concert. It’s not terrible. 🙂
I still can't figure out what you did wrong. :)
What kind and model of dulcimer do you play please
Hey Ted! I have wanted to learn the Hammered Dulcimer since I first found out they existed. (That was when I was about 6.) I want to get one, and I've saved about 450 dollars for one, and I'm pushing myself to buy one. I'm a piano player, so I was thinking about getting the Piano Dulcimer, but I hesitate because then I wouldn't be learning the normal hammered dulcimer layout if I wanted to really get into it (which I do.) I want a chromatic dulcimer, but the piano one is cheapest, what do I do?
belongs on candyrat records
can you play with out the damper. I'm a vibrant kind of person.
Teresa Fazzolari NOOOOO
Where are you? An insect chorus, and it looks humid.
sounds like a naruto song lol could use this for a video game
