  • In the last update I mentioned that we'd had Oli's AQ Test through and it was hard to do etc. Well we've finished it, and the Conners 3 form, and I thought i'd find an online equivalent and run the results through it to find out what the test says - I then did it for me, Emily and had my friends do it, as I wanted to see whether the outcomes 'felt right' - it was a very interesting conversation piece today and I feel like I've learned a bit...

I found this video to be helpful in many ways. Just talking about Autism in general will help to give knowledge to someone that hasn't been touched by it. It will make it easier for a parent to have their child out in public and maybe not be judged for the child's behavior because they have Autism. If people could only realize how hard it is for a parent of a child with a more demanding form of Autism for almost 24hours a day 7days a week, what they have to go through. Knowledge of Autism will help everyone. 🇺🇸

When I have done the AQ tests I always scored higher than average as my autism has worsened as I grew older to due to not being diagnosed as a child growing up in the 60's and 70's. In the 60's autism was not know by GP's and it was only in the late 70's and early 80's autism got professionally recognised. I just got autism spectrum disorder and was not given a scale where I was. Earlier on it was seen as related to severe mental health conditions. The deterioration of my physical and mental health has contributed in making autism symptoms worse along with coping with independent living. I hope Oli will get this diagnosis soon and you won't have to wait long for his diagnostic report.

Sorry to hear that. I can definitely see how waiting too long can have an impact. My hope is that before the end of the school year in June/July we might have a diagnosis secure. Sometimes I feel like it’ll be much quicker than that and others I feel like we are being unrealistic! I guess it depends case by case.

Hi, we’ve just got a diagnosis for my 9 year old. Took us 21 months on the waiting list to be seen and only one appointment to get a diagnosis. I found you through Kevin chapman, really enjoying your videos.
Hope your feeling well after your episode x

Hi Claire, thank you. I feel much better now! Interesting that it took that long but the steps were that ‘few’ - did you have to do the questionnaires and observations or was it just one visit? Is there a level of severity with your child’s autism that meant it was simpler to diagnose?
