These dogs are bread to pull sleds through deep snow & ice so how can someone not know that huskys need a lot of exercise & obedience training at an early age , when one fails to complete this training you will wind up with a high energy animal with absolutely no boundaries & limitations, this can lead to a dangerous situation...

The second she said “I got him because they are pretty” was all I needed to know. I have 2 huskies they need an owner who can keep up with their maintenance. They need to be outside running around or a bunch of walks to really tone down all that energy.

These are pretty weak and terrible training methods. Eventually, the dog will ignore her because she keeps saying “off” over and over again. Huskies are very driven and stubborn breeds, and they will find ways to ignore you. I can already tell the dog is disengaged and doesn’t understand nor care about the training. Teaching the dog to sit and wait is a much better solution, especially when having guests come over. Also teaching him the word “place” and setting up an area where he can go and relax instead of being in your personal space.

    • @bea1365
      @bea1365 2 роки тому

Spot on. They are not teaching the dog anything. It is actually reinforcing the behaviour and is going to end up with the dog getting frustrated. They need to teach the dog a new, more appropriate behaviour and keep repeating it.

It's almost like nobody living in a suburb or city really has the skills, temperament or space to properly train a dog. Instead they treat them like human children to satisfy their mental illness.
Nobody in the 21st century needs a dog. They're completely useless to pretty much everybody except for farmers and shepherds. Even most "service animals" are outclassed by human technology and are usually just excuses for people to bring their pets everywhere. They don't belong in the human invention of the urban and suburban biomes.

So true Jess, I've just commented on that. You have to get a breed that suits your lifestyle. Huskies need a lot of excercise, so if your a active person who likes walks, then this dog is for you. Also lots of space to run, you need a big Garden, or be close to lots of fields. I think this dog was bored, and so he was playing up. I love all breeds of dogs, but i know that i wouldnt have them as they would need a lot of my time, and with someone who has a bad back and neck, i could not give them the life they deserve. We live in the countryside, lots of greenery and safe roads for walking. I got a husky as a running buddy. Preference is medium size bc I don’t want to always be bending down for a small dog… can’t handle a GSD/Malinois and Golden Retrievers are too cute for everyone to resist petting. Huskies have that intimidating look that people will stop and ask if they’ll bite. That’s about the only aesthetic thing I got them for. But never get a husky solely for aesthetics.
I’m training my 2month old rn but I will still get him professionally trained for obedience. You can’t trust huskies to behave on their own without training and boundaries (which they tend to ignore)

Yes - perhaps Graeme didn't have much say in how the episode panned out ... seemed very rushed and basic. I'd say that most people interested in watching a dog show like this would far prefer a longer allocation of time. An entire hour could have achieved so much more and been ten times more helpful both to the owner and the viewers. I am dubious that this was a 'quick fix' ... the owner wasn't anywhere near on the ball with the praise, unfortunately.

She does not appear to show this boy any sense of her authority. Adonis has not once looked to her for approval.
She has to establish who she is - alpha - then he will submit. She did not do anything to research the breed which is so sad as people seem to be increasingly acquiring huskies then ditching them once they can't handle the commitment.
Adonis doesn't know any better. He is just a sweet floof angel.

I would love a husky but I know that they need a lot of exercise and simulation to keep them sane so to speak plus I have a disability that effects my walking. Theres one in the village where I live and her owners walk her for over 2hrs twice a day another owner that I know if she cant walk her husky she puts him on her treadmill to exercise him. She does that manly at night or bad weather he loves it.

I can well understand how that Husky has become a bully. The dog is not to blame. I have a big male husky who is calm and kind because he gets three hours of physical work and play every day and has another dog and a cat to hang out with while I'm at work. Husky gets frustrated if he doesn't have work, company, and purpose.

been around Huskies since i was a kid, i and am in my 60's, to get some exercise, everyday. i could walk them for walk up to 12 miles a day and at least 4 miles. he has some much energy, that has to be used. I owned 4 at one time, and they got their exercise and they were well behaved, taking to the dog park helps. I see too many Huskies in the pound, because people get them, because their pretty, and when they are grown the are very strong, and need attention, if you cant provided that then dont get one. its not fair to them.

You do have to make sure the dog park is secure though, I had to stop taking mine to my local one because he figured out he could get out under the fence in one section and could jump from a collapsed tree over the fence at another. There's a a lot of farmland with livestock where I stay, and the breeder informed me that my Husky's mother and one of his uncles had been shot by a famer for killing 60-80 ducks and attacking sheep.

How about physically and mentally stimulating the dog and also training it humanely. He is what's called a balance trainer, using negative and positive techniques. Trouble is, he doesn't understand how the dog's brain works. This is what happens because the dog training business is still unregulated.

So they've got a film crew in there and they want to get the dog to behave badly and encourage it so you end up with what we see and in jumps the usual expert🙄 who says "push it away etc etc" then give it a treat then all fixed and onto the next program blah blah blah, usual tv rubbish🙄. I am hoping that after the show the presenter gave the lady contact details of a Husky owners club with which she could book in for lots and lots of training for both her and the dog and whilst doing this they can make an assessment of whether she is actually able to give the Husky the patience, love and training it and she needs, if not they can relocate the Husky to a new owner who has had Huskies before so the dog goes to a new home rather than its behaviour not being corrected and it going from one dogs home to another. I just wish people would do lots and lots of research about the breed they are looking for and if they get one from a breeder they get the breeder checked out with a Husky owners club and can then see the pup with it mother so as to see the mothers temperament also to contact people who have purchase other pups from the same litter. Forgot to mention, if you live on your own and work full time and have no-one to walk the dog then a picture of a Husky is better than getting a real one.

I usually enjoy Graeme's programmes, but I can't really see that this video is being responsible in being so basic. Another trainer on this platform, Will Atherton Canine Training, has a video about an aggressive Husky (which actually bit him) which was an abandoned dog ... and was probably abandoned for doing exactly what Adonis is doing, with the cause of his behaviour being exactly the same, too: lack of effective training and boundaries (not to mention exercise). Although the videos are about the same length, Will makes it clear that there was a lot more intensive rehab training to be carried out (i.e. by HIM, a professional with a decade of experience - not an unfortunate out-of-her-depth owner, who can't even get her praise-timing right), and that even then the dog would still only be rehomed to someone a) experienced in the breed and b) without children in the household.

  • @Kira-kg4kl

I mean she said aggression, all I see is a dog that is not exercised enough and has no boundaries, she hasn't taught him to walk nicely and hasn't taught him how to behave around people correctly when it comes to play, all of vi's behavioural problems are her fault

It's on the owner, not the dog.
