I've had some good luck using this movement from time to time when dealing with costo/slipped rib pain. Thank you.

That's great to hear, Ian! It's always nice to hear how folks are solving their own pain problems with somatic awareness. :-)

I hope you enjoy it. I love somatics too! Spreading the word happens when we all talk about Somatics with our friends, family and health providers. ;-)

Im a little confused about the somatics process. When i perform the eccentric... are thee muscles supposed to be activated ? and if so....how does one come out of it ... when the muscles are tightened ? as in when i come back the muscle are still in a contracted poisiton and get caught int the middle and jerk..

Somatic movements are pandiculations. Neither a stretch or a strengthening movement. Here is a blog post with more info. www.takeitoutsidefitness.com/2019/11/what-is-pandiculation.html
It sounds like you have a case of SMA, sensory motor amnesia. Your brain is good at tightening your muscles but doesn't have clear neural control to lengthen your muscles, based on you saying "when i come back the muscle are still in a contracted poisiton and get caught int the middle and jerk" You need to sense the tightness, then slowly sense the lengthening of the muscles, which means you have to release them, not stay contracted. The jerking bits are just SMA. Your brain's inability to voluntarily control your body/muscles.
