Oh sweet friend! I came out of the new age and was radically saved by Jesus. It didn't come from people wavering on the difficult truths of the Bible, but in sitting down and discussing those truths with me and allowing the Holy Spirit to do the work. I just want to encourage you and everyone to go to scripture and see learn the word. Test everything against the truth of God's word.
Dawn, I suspect you were sent today as a light for the people in the comments who are struggling to love one another. We all know its not always easy! As the old saying goes, Walking the walk is always harder than talking the talk. Thank you for sharing your true path.
This is not in the typical vein of the podcast. I highly recommend Alisa Childer’s and Tim Barnett’s book The Deconstruction of Christianity for those who love people that are in the deconstruction process. Defining terms in this conversation would have been helpful. Dawn, I truly appreciate what you do with decluttering. This one left me scratching my head some.Jesus does call us to love, His sole mission wasn’t to love, it was salvation. We can’t outlove Jesus.

Dawn, at the 15:22 mark what you said is FALSE. Jesus did NOT say the greatest commandment is love. Matthew 22:37-38 clearly states that Jesus said the greatest commandment is to Love GOD, not just to love in general.
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He [Jesus] said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." - Matthew 22:36-40

I am on that journey myself. It can be extremely difficult to be surrounded by people who believe everything they have been spoon fed while you are screaming in your head, “No!!!! One resource I have found very helpful with hard questions about faith has been Mike Winger on UA-cam and his channel Bible thinker. He does not shy away from any topic, and does not resort to pushing his opinion, but actually teaches how to respond to hard questions yourself and how to look at the evidence for what to believe. Highly recommend!!
I dont think Dawn was saying God is not black and white, and think her point was that God's word in scripture, as the living word of God, is not black and white in the sense that many people make it out to be. It seems to what Dawn was expressing is that she is now learning to listen to God speak to her through scripture and other sources to guide her in her own beliefs. I did not take anything she said as saying that God changes or is not steadfast. But rather, that our understanding of God's character is lacking and therefore what some of us may see as black and white, may not be accurate. I agree in all things we should be comparing our behaviors and beliefs to the character God shows us in scripture and the person Jesus is. That is the only way we can see if we are straying to righteousness or not. Jesus is the way truth and life, and we need to follow Him with our Heart, Soul and Mind. Thank you Dawn for sharing your heart so often. I pray you find peace on your journey, the peace only God can give.

Dawn, I adore you. And I love whoever your heart is hurting for. Most importantly, God loves them. NOTHING any of us do could make God quit loving us. He also doesn't want to leave us where we are. He wants us to desire and sacrifice to be close to Him. We each have sins to leave on his altar as we focus on developing our relationship with Him. If we start looking side to side to see if someone else's offering is appropriate, we could lose our own focus on Him. I offer my prayer that each of us may experience God's absolute love for us!! ❤❤
Many people did not grow up in the Church, but became Christians as adults. I am grieved at yet another 'Christian' podcaster who accuses lifelong Christians of eating spoon-fed theology mindlessly. How can that possibly be read as anything but condescension? And it is not the job of any Christian to apologize on behalf of something other Christians have done; we do not collectively sin. (Also a truth found in scripture) My husband has always believed, and never walked down the sinful path that I did, and I am so thankful for that! Scripture already tells us to 'work out' salvation, there is no need for deconstruction.
This conversation has allowed me to find Peace and acceptance in myself with the analogy of leaving rooms. Letting go of regret for leaving, or needing the good opinion of others.
Dawn, this was an absolutely WONDERFUL podcast. Frankly, one of the best, ever. I was absolutely riveted and hung on every word. One of the things I always notice when you interview guests is that you dial in your prior broadcast radio skills to make the podcast relevant, interesting, and respectful to the guest. I greatly admire this talent! You are so good with people! I confess that the subject matter turned onto a road I didn’t expect, but I was up for the ride (former horsewoman and trail rider here). The podcast wandered into unaccustomed territory and some viewers went off the rails on self-righteous religious rants. I would encourage those viewers to ponder the message in their private prayer time and conduct themselves accordingly-and PRIVATELY. Based on this video, I think Emily and her family prayerfully exited one room, while grieving that leave-taking, and entered another room of love and peace. May they always be blessed. I think the related stories were beautifully and respectfully expressed. The situation that was alluded to could be a difficult situation for any parent, and I could not imagine a parent who didn’t pray for understanding, but at the end of the day, loving one’s child unconditionally is the seat of grace and power in the context of a family unit. To the haters, I say, read your Bible and refer to Matthew 23: 13-39 and Matthew 7: 9-11. All of the rigidity I have seen in the comments is exactly that of the Scribes and Pharisees. Don’t be a Pharisee. Virtue-signaling isn’t a virtue, recall Matthew 7: 1-3. All said and done, it was not difficult extract the lesson of rooms and hallways in the context of our places in life; the things that we face; the old things that used to be, but are no longer, yet we are loathe to discard; and embracing the new room that loves us and supports us. I think this dovetails perfectly with Dawn’s seminal message of minimalism and decluttering, because so much of it is emotional and psychological, as is well evidenced by the feedback posted in the mentorship group and the TYHB group. I plan to purchase Emily’s books. God’s law is to love. End. Stop.
When I was in my deepest struggle, I camped out in the Old Testament. I saw how natural it is to wrestle with God and to have deep emotions about His decisions. There's a level of closeness in conflict.

Dawn, the greatest commandment is to love God above all else. Mat 22:36-38. Be careful not to put the 2nd before the first. Love does not mean agreeing with/embracing something someone is pursuing or struggling with. We are slaves either to sin or to God. We want to be kind and supportive but that can get mixed up with accepting sin that enslaves. I've seen so many believers lose their way... they within a couple of years walk away from faith and the church once you start to try and make the confusion of the world okay. One person you might look up in your searching is Mike Winger. I love you and will be praying for you.
Yes, it's important to examine what we have been taught against the Bible. God will show us the truth there. It contains everything He wants us to know. Thankfully, we can count on the fact that God doesn't change. But Satan is throwing all kinds of stuff at us and wants to destroy God's people, children, and families. If I believe His lies, instead of God's unchanging truth, I will not be able to love my children well. And their souls are at stake. Truth is always the best, even when it's hard. Knowing the truth and what's right or wrong is the only way I, or my children, will be aware of our sin and led to repentance. I can pray like crazy for my kids and love them deeply even when they are sinning, but when I allow them on the throne of my life that belongs to God, I am guilty of idolatry. Dawn, I've followed you for years. Hope this makes sense. It's meant with love.

I have so many thoughts sorry if this is long. It is so easy to think a situation is simple and if it isn’t being handled quickly you’re doing it wrong. For me I know anxiety and depression is bad and we don’t want it. in my mind if you took your medicine it all got better. Then someone close to me suffered and I realized that medication is far from the magic bullet I thought it was. I can sympathize with Emily hitting an unexpected situation and realizing that the quick answer she thought she knew wasn’t a quick answer. I understand wanting to have a conversation with the people you love and trust the most about the difficulty in your life and getting quick and not really helpful answers and realizing sadly that you need to go somewhere else. For those complaining this was too religious. I hear what you are saying especially if you experienced religious trauma. But if you listen to her talking about her experience leaving her church as an experience of leaving a toxic family or a toxic friendship, I think it becomes more clear how universal the leaving without closer, without being able to tell your side of the story and defend yourself can be. Loving and caring for people as Jesus commanded does not extend to accepting the sinning behavior. I can love you but I do not have to endorse behavior that is against Biblical teaching. God’s word is black and white. The woke movement wants it to be gray.

I have been listening to Dawn for 6-7 years, but this podcast really grieves me. The Word of God IS black and white and did not change just because our friend or family member decides not to believe it. Both of my adult children have walked away from God for a time and my daughter has yet to come back but she told me that she knows and believes the truth she just doesn't feel like doing it right now. The TRUTH DOES NOT CHANGE, WE DO. Yes, God loves everyone, and so should we, but He loves us enough to tell us when we are wrong and made a way for us to repent and get right with him. John 3:5 Acts 2:38
I grieve too...she has been such a good influence in my life now probably for 5 years... I understand searching the scriptures and learning that you don't agree with what you were taught growing up by the church you grew up in. It's important. My son is attending Catholic school (we are Christian but not Catholic) and there have been times he has brought stuff home that caused us to search the scriptures. Even to understand that some of the things the culture in your childhood church fostered didn't line up with what they taught. But the deconstructing movement is a whole other thing. The topics Dawn briefly threw out there in particular are issues that many families of faith have been under tremendous pressure to embrace. Loved ones laying down ultimatums to be celebrated otherwise cut off. This has been our experience. Dawn, if you read this, search scripture yes... put God first always. Satan is a deceiver... his talent is to lie to you and He desires always to separate you from the Lord. "Did God really say???..." God cares for and loves others more than we do. Because of you, Dawn, I'm reading through scripture with the Bible Recap plan and understanding more and more about how patient, loving and dependable God is while reading through the Old Testament. His ways are higher than ours. He created us. He knows what we need more than we do and he knows our propensity to forget what He has told us. To become confused by our hearts and to become victims of the Enemy who wants to see us separated from Him. Trust God's ways over ours. Over what our hearts want. Because of your influence in my life and the pressure (and frankly temptation at times) to fold...I'll be praying for you from a distance. Because of these comments, I won't be listening to this podcast. I agree with all of the responses I've read so far. Too many Christians in the limelight have twisted scriptures and are living lives totally contrary to what the living breathing Word of God says. But, as believers, we need to be constantly examining our own attitudes and what comes out of our mouths as we are showing our faith with others.
Paul says in Phiippians 3:13 to forget what is past and strain toward what and where God is leading you. We all need to realize everything in life is "for now". God is constantly leading us onward to His goals for us. I don’t mean we forget the past but put it behind us as finished, a done deal, so to speak. And we should look to God and trust Him to lovingly lead us to the next place (or room) He wants us to be, for whatever His reasons. And our faith tells us He is working for our good and never for our harm. Romans 8:28 and Jeremiah 29:11.
Dawn, it is evident that you so love your people and want so deeply to care for your audience. But this conversation is wading into dangerous territory. There are objective truths described in the Bible, and things that are defined as sin. We are to speak the truth in love, but we still need to speak the TRUTH. When things seem unclear or may be confusing, rather than turning to ourselves to make the decision, we should first turn back to God - to the Bible and to prayer. We do not have the truth within ourselves (without Him) - He is truth.
Dawn, I listened to this podcast last night hopefully to get motivation to spend this new week tackling a messy basement. I was very surprised at what I heard and concerned. I have watched and enjoyed both you and Diana's channels for a couple of years, and loved both of your books, This is the first time that I have had misgivings after listening to one of your messages. Someone in the comments suggested a book by Alisa Childers, and I have listened to Alisa's You Tube channel for a couple of years and she is really good. No, it is not about decluttering, but she had a crisis of faith at one time and has wonderful insights. Sean McDowell and Melissa Doughtery have great channels as well. Dawn, I hope you do not think that I am overstepping, but I think these channels can be very helpful.
This made me sad to hear. The bible is clear on what is sin and what isnt. We love others by drawing them away from sin. Not supporting it and agreeing with it. I agree with looking to the bible for yourself instead of believing what you are taught or what others say. But that means that you need to properly read and take to heart what the bible says...not twist it to find words that support what you want it to say.
I love the message in this podcast. I've recently experienced leaving someplace I never thought I'd leave, and it was painful but has brought with it a peace and relief.

Any “confusion” expressed in these comments is either feigned to hurl a passive aggressive insult or they are just short-circuiting. They aren’t able to see past what you describe as the “yes, of course that’s what we believe” because they have not had personal experience with a loved one struggling with sexuality in the face of a religion that has failed them. I have never liked you more than this video. You bravely stood up for what is right - love, understanding, compassion. These folks are big mad because you just flipped some tables over while talking to a modern day woman at the well. Bravissima!

When God gives you the gift of a child, do you tell “him” it isn’t good enough, you want it to be different. Or do you pray for acceptance and understanding. How does anyone know this wasn’t a way to reach them,not their child, a lesson. Not arguing a point, just saying no one knows God’s will.
Questioning is ok. However, Christians are to follow God's word - scripture, in the bible. We're to love, to be kind, but not to condone sin (including our own). Jesus sat with the sinners, he didn't sin with the sinners. Jesus said, "Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more." Ten commandments. Love the sinner, hate the sin.
Yes, Jesús sat with sinners, but he corrected the proud religious, he forgave those who repented, but the bible says God resists the proud. The idea is not to stay a sinner. Through Jesus we become saints, repent (leave the sin behind, hate sin), baptized in water and filled with the Holy Spirit...then God calls you saints. Acts 2, 2. Cor. 5:17, you can see that in the beginning of the books of Paul...Romans, Galatians...to the saints in rome... Greetings. Let's keep up the good works for the kingdom 🫂
I listened to the end, and I have such a heavy heart. I have listened to you for years and you have been so open about your faith and I think God has blessed you because of it. But this episode so confusing and I listened to the end to see if there was any clairity and there was not. Deconstruction is fine, Jesus even did it with the religious leaders when they are being legalistic and proud. However the bible is clear on sexuality. Yes we are supposed to Love others but we are suppoosed to love God first (Matt 22:37-39) And I don't know Emily but it is a huge red flag when you don't like the mantra to "Let Go, and Let God" as a Christian so she likes just "Let Go" better. We honestly love others so much better when we love them in their sin but still speak the truth in love. Please know this comment is not of anger or pride but of great concern. I'll be praying for you. ❤

Hi Dawn! I just listened to this podcast. I need some clarification. Your guest speaker Emily stated that she has a child that questioned their sexuality. What specifically does that mean? Does her child think they should be the opposite gender or entertain same sex relationships? Also, Emily stated she decided to leave her church because her family was not supported. What does that mean? My questions for you Dawn are do you support same sex relationships? Do you support people changing their gender & having gender surgery? Do you believe God made a mistake in creating a girl who wants to be a boy or vice versa? Do you believe God condones these things? As a Believer in Jesus & His Holy scripture, God is very clear about homosexuality. God is perfect in all His ways. Yes, we are commended to love God with our whole being & to love our neighbor as our self. In no way does that mean to change our gender. I believe & scripture backs it up, that gender identity confusion is a demonic spirit that creates confusion in the mind of those questioning their gender. There are demonic forces currently working in our world to destroy EVERYTHING God has created. These demonic forces are on assignment to destroy family, marriage, gender identity, church, education, government & anything God created. I beg you to please pray & ask Holy Spirit for truth, wisdom, revelation & understanding. We are living in the end times & satan does not have much time to kill, steal & destroy. Stealing someone's identity by causing the person to believe that he or she is not who God created him or her to be is the ultimate in DECEPTION!😢

Hi there, Dawn! I’m not one to usually comment on videos here on UA-cam…. But I felt compelled to write here. I personally was graciously moved by this conversation in this podcast. I genuinely had moments that I teared up listening to this raw and personal conversation between you two, as it felt so closely hitting home. I think it’s something that so many in their faith put there head down and just accept what is being told to them in their community…but you are so right in that at the fundamental our relationship with the Lord is ours. He gives us the safe space to have these conversations and to discuss, rather than be quick to establish this black or white mentality of an answer. I have personally experienced an even closer relationship and partnership with God, as I’ve opened up to allow space for these thoughts and feelings. To dive into the way Jesus accepted and led with love not judgement. For me to focus on MY relationship with Him…. and I am truly grateful for this episode to give a view into having to have these hard conversations sometimes… I can’t even imagine how tough it can sometimes be to be so continually vulnerable sharing these different intimate conversations especially regarding faith. But I truly appreciate you sharing this! I wish I could better eloquently express my gratitude for you sharing this episode with us, but I wanted to put something out there after having just listened

Super sad...the new age movement is SO attractive for different reasons. It's easy. It doesn't offend. Jesus offended people. What?? Ya, Jesus, the very definition of Love, got angry and hated sin. We don't get to pick what we are comfortable with when it comes to the Bible. It's not about us or our comfort level. And calling sin sin isn't hate. It's truth. It's hard to call truth truth sometimes. It hurts to call someone you love, who is struggling, a person who is sinning. But that's the deal. It isn't our call. We seek to live compassionately as Christians but we don't get to rewrite the Bible. I think it has become an excuse to say, "I'm investigating what I actually believe." It's more like, "I'm in the process of deciding how I feel about certain issues." The heart is deceitful...

Perhaps one of the reasons most people find Christians to be judgmental isn’t primarily due to encounters with actual Christians-but due to a world that is increasingly hostile to Jesus Christ. There were many who left Him, not because He didn’t love them well enough, but because He respected their free will (John 6).
Hymn lyrics from different seasons of life often take the place of the idea of a mantra. Literal scripture memorization work is living instruction which teaches multiple spiritual truths as we literally speak God’s Word. It is a simplicity of faith which confounds the wisdom of common sense. The act of leaving a toxic space is supported in scripture, do so and continue on to WALK OUT YOUR SALVATION.

The section where she wrote about how being a peacekeeper can sometimes stand n the way of living into your true self particularly resonated with me. I am saddened by some of the responses I’m seeing. First let me say I am no longer a Christian because in the time and place I grew up, Christianity was presented as cruel and unforgiving. I cannot and will not believe that a loving God will damn an innocent 5 y/o to hell or assign them to purgatory forever because he or she died without accepting Jesus as their personal savior, in part because they’d never heard of Jesus. This is not hyperbole. I was actually told this. In a class I attended on the Bible from a Christian University, one sentence stood out, “The Bible is the perfect word of God interpreted and written down by imperfect man.” When you read the Bible do you give more weight to and obscure verse in Leviticus or do you need Jesus exhortations to love others and his command to cast stones only if you are free of sin. Let me add as a CIS heterosexual I have no dog in the sexuality fight. And I don’t search out verses to support any view. My readings largely took place before this became an “thing”. Yes, I am old. I will speak only for myself, in that virtually all of what we know ( intellectually) of God was written down by imperfect man. I can either accept their infallibility or I can follow my heart and love others and give them grace knowing that God is perfectly capable in knowing what is in their heart and judging them accordingly, I can not. I can only live my life as well and as kindly as I can, trusting God to know what is in my heart and judge me accordingly.
We do need to let our faith become our own. We all have questions, and we aren’t going to always get the answers. We are all searching. But I just hold tight to the truths I know: God loves me, wants a real relationship with me, and hates sin. Jesus came to die for me and take the punishment for my sins. The Bible is without error and the guidebook for our lives and the story of God that he wants to share with us. Aside from that, I can still be friends with others who don’t share all of my same beliefs. It could make it harder, but God puts us in relationship with people for a reason and season. Also, you have the choice. You can listen this and decide it’s not for you, or take the bits and pieces you need, or take none of it. You choose! I still love Dawn and truly believe that God is using her in some miraculous ways. But guess what? She is still human too! Please everyone try to remember that. We have different opinions and you can choose to stay or go. Lean into Jesus and the Holy Spirit. And if he says stay then stay, if he says it’s time to go, then go! Christians can seriously be the most judgmental people! But we are to still love one another and be kind to one another. Ephesians 4:32

I think you made this video just for me. I struggle with cPTSD and I felt like so many of this answered prayers for me concerning friendships and my home and my love for Christ and how my struggles are very personal just like my relationship with Christ. I just felt so much truth in that conversation.

You can love a person even though they are sinning or struggling, we all do, however, we should NOT put that choice above GOD!!! when people say God does not make mistakes, HE did NOT create homosexuality!! something somewhere, went wrong. there are many reasons for why we sin or are cursed. things can run through families, alcoholism for example and the more knowledge we have the more we can figure this out. like for instance did you know the spirit of alcoholism is in the same group as workaholic? they are both bad, but one is seen as good in the world, but it's not. one of the worse things about homosexuality is that those experiencing it or others don't just want to commit the sin, they want everyone to agree that it's ok; they want to make a sin Not a sin and that is where the beginning of them thinking that God is against them begins and HE is not against them, he is against the sin that will take them to hell. Please don't hear what I am not saying. If you truly love someone you will be truthful with them and tell them that homosexuality is a sin. People can be delivered from all sin. Jesus healed them all. don't give up praying for your loved ones. Jesus said after healing people, go and sin no more. God says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. there is so much to discover in the Word of God that most have not even tapped into yet. I pray for those in these difficult situations and those who love them. God speed

Whether it’s sexual sin or whatever sin out there, we’re to actively work to flee from it period. And in a loving way, share the truth to others when we see they’re following the wide worldly road verse the straight and narrow. Speaking of sexual and gender issues, that’s why I LOVE Jackie Hill Perry and point anyone who says they’re gay etc to her. She once was gay and involved with same sex, but Jesus changed her and she’s happily married with a man and have 3-4 children ❤ PTL 🙏 her book is ‘Gay girl, Good God’. 👍 always be loving, yes, absolutely, but as Christians we’re also being tested all the time if we’re just going to follow the world and say abortion, same sex relationships or changing gender etc etc is ok! No!! We have to stand up, again, in love ❤ Bible says many will fall away in the end, don’t let that be you! We’re also called to be “in the world but not of the world”….. all the answers to life are in God’s Word, unfortunately even Christians don’t read it or enough and don’t pray enough, then wonder why the enemy is really attacking them. God wants best for us. The only way to have that is to follow His Word. Period.

Thank you for sharing this add for bringing in the mental health and somewhat controversial views on questioning and finding your own beliefs. Oh Dawn, this is a very troubling podcast. I do not know your religious upbringing, but by being in God's Word He will reveal to you understanding thru the Holy Spirit. Dig into your Bible and He will reveal the truth. Be careful...God's word never changes as He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We cannot be swayed by loved ones sin and readjust the Bible's truth. In fact if we love like Jesus we will confront sin head on in love to help steer away from sin. Being like Jesus He never condoned sin but loved the sinner to teach the truth and die for us.

I'm confused what's wrong with "let go and let God" ? I'm sure holding a podcast is very difficult, but I pray Dawn is continuing to spend time in the Word.
Perhaps because it is too trite and doesn’t acknowledge that we were given free will and the ability to seek guidance and make changes ourselves. I rarely pray asking for anything. Virtually all of my prayers are prayers of thanksgiving. I believe I have to use the blessings I already have before essentially saying, “that isn’t enough I want more.” If I NEED more it is available. JMHO. When I pray for others I pray for understanding and support. Not take away this disease, but if this is your will, help them through this.

The Bible is very clear on what’s right and wrong , and how we should live our lives, feeling that you need to expand and dig deeper to see what you really believe, is really you just trying to stretch the Word to fit your situation and make you comfortable with what Jesus called SIN
No digging deeper is in fact trying to understand the word!!!! The Bible also says to love those people that are different because we are all in fact his children!! There is no but in the Bible it’s I love you period exclamation mark. No matter the sin God is love and God is forgiveness!
There is only one truth, we have to line up with it, I can make up my mind, but that doesn't make a lie a truth, even though the world is trying to tell us that. I know this sounds radical, the bible is radical, that's why they crucify Jesus, because they didn't like his radical points of view. God will be the final judge, not our opinion...we better start preaching the truth on and out of church, we all need to repent and turn back to God through Jesus. If we like it or not.
Dawn- please remain in the decluttering world- leave interpretation of Scripture to those who know what they are doing. You may be leading many down a dangerorus path without intending to.
It is possible to fully love, just like Jesus did, and yet stand on truth, that God created us, male and female In his image and established marriage. This was confirmed by Jesus in the New Testament too. Otherwise, what are we going to tell our children? We have to give them a solid answer when they ask questions about gender and marriage. If we can question this truth stated in the Bible, we can question anything. We erase the boundary between truth and non-truth. Yes, there is pain and yes, we are called to fully love and never cast anyone out, but we have to stand on truth.
Thank you SO much Dawn for having this conversation. If we are too fearful, rigid, prideful to have meaningful conversations about the human experience, it’s hard to see much future for this planet. We need to embrace each other more and be willing to be a little uncomfortable in order to live peacefully with all our neighbors, and our family. We have to change our emotions to fit scripture not scripture to fit our emotions. It is good to question. It is good to wrestle with your faith but at the end of the day we need to be careful we are doing so to know God, not to make God into our own imge of what we want Him to be.

Hi Dawn love you, and your videos have truly changed our lives. I get inspiration from you every day. I haven’t listened to the podcast yet - I got caught up reading comments and I will just say… I love you know matter what you believe, and it seems to me that it’s the “Christians” who are the most judgemental, and who use fear and are afraid. I am comfortable enough with not knowing about life after death and believe there is more to life than worrying about what comes next! Most of my friends are Christian (we homeschool so it’s common), and a lot of them turned to religion out of fear of threat of hell. Just something on my mind. I appreciate all of your work so much and thank you again!!!
Just a question to think about…If hell is real, should we have a fear of it? If you are in a building on fire, there is such thing as a healthy fear of the fire. Though, the desire to live is the bigger motivation to escape, just as a fulfilling life knowing God is the truest motivation to follow Christ.
@@AdelaidesReadingFamily Just a question: should I have fear of hell just because you or anyone else say that it exists? The comparison with sitting in a burning building doesn't hold up. If someone else tells me that the house is on fire, I can react by getting me and others out. Within the hour it will be clear whether there was a fire or not. And the damages that might have occurred can be assessed. That is a totally different situation from someone triggering alarms about hell after life. Who do you think have the most opportunity to be open for good and love inside herself and in life, the one accepting that she doesn't know what comes next or the one convinced that hell is there for some after life if they don't follow the rules by those who are threatening her with hell? Anything in life that comes from fear is at risk to damage yourself and others. No matter what beleif it comes from.

@@BodilWandt I would say for myself, I believe hell exists because God/Jesus has said it exists in the Bible and there is a great amount of evidence to believe what has been written in the Bible including fulfilled prophecy, historical evidence and the great amount of witnesses who lost lives for their belief that Jesus rose from the dead. If someone rises from the dead, I’m going to stop in my tracks and pay attention to what they say, even if I don’t like it. I don’t know how much you’ve looked into evidence for the Bible, but Mike Winger is a UA-camr with a great video series on evidence for the Bible that has been very interesting to me, just in case you are curious. I agree that fear is not necessarily the best motivation for every decision, but fear can be a helpful emotion to push us to action, in a variety of circumstances. Fear in and of itself, should not be criticized. Some things warrant fear and some things don’t warrant fear. That was my only point about the fire. Christians share the good news about Jesus, because we want them to experience true freedom in Christ. In the analogy, it would as someone warning you the building is on fire because they want your life spared, even if you can’t see it for yourself. Yes, eventually you will see the truth for yourself, but the question is will it be too late? One may be clear in a matter of hours, the other years. No analogy is perfect. Clearly, we won’t have absolute certainty about the afterlife until after we die. However, we are forced to make decisions everyday with incomplete information. Oh sweet friend! I came out of the new age and was radically saved by Jesus. It didn't come from people wavering on the difficult truths of the Bible, but in sitting down and discussing those truths with me and allowing the Holy Spirit to do the work. I just want to encourage you and everyone to go to scripture and see learn the word. Test everything against the truth of God's word.

This is not in the typical vein of the podcast. I highly recommend Alisa Childer’s and Tim Barnett’s book The Deconstruction of Christianity for those who love people that are in the deconstruction process. Defining terms in this conversation would have been helpful. Dawn, I truly appreciate what you do with decluttering. This one left me scratching my head some.Jesus does call us to love, His sole mission wasn’t to love, it was salvation. We can’t outlove Jesus.

One resource I have found very helpful with hard questions about faith has been Mike Winger on UA-cam and his channel Bible thinker. He does not shy away from any topic, and does not resort to pushing his opinion, but actually teaches how to respond to hard questions yourself and how to look at the evidence for what to believe. Highly recommend!!
I dont think Dawn was saying God is not black and white, and think her point was that God's word in scripture, as the living word of God, is not black and white in the sense that many people make it out to be. It seems to what Dawn was expressing is that she is now learning to listen to God speak to her through scripture and other sources to guide her in her own beliefs. I did not take anything she said as saying that God changes or is not steadfast. But rather, that our understanding of God's character is lacking and therefore what some of us may see as black and white, may not be accurate. I agree in all things we should be comparing our behaviors and beliefs to the character God shows us in scripture and the person Jesus is. That is the only way we can see if we are straying to righteousness or not. Jesus is the way truth and life, and we need to follow Him with our Heart, Soul and Mind.

Dawn, I adore you. And I love whoever your heart is hurting for. Most importantly, God loves them. NOTHING any of us do could make God quit loving us. He also doesn't want to leave us where we are. He wants us to desire and sacrifice to be close to Him. We each have sins to leave on his altar as we focus on developing our relationship with Him. If we start looking side to side to see if someone else's offering is appropriate, we could lose our own focus on Him. I offer my prayer that each of us may experience God's absolute love for us!! ❤❤
Many people did not grow up in the Church, but became Christians as adults.
I am grieved at yet another 'Christian' podcaster who accuses lifelong Christians of eating spoon-fed theology mindlessly. How can that possibly be read as anything but condescension? And it is not the job of any Christian to apologize on behalf of something other Christians have done; we do not collectively sin. (Also a truth found in scripture)
My husband has always believed, and never walked down the sinful path that I did, and I am so thankful for that!
Scripture already tells us to 'work out' salvation, there is no need for deconstruction.
This conversation has allowed me to find Peace and acceptance in myself with the analogy of leaving rooms. Letting go of regret for leaving, or needing the good opinion of others.
Dawn, this was an absolutely WONDERFUL podcast. Frankly, one of the best, ever. I was absolutely riveted and hung on every word. One of the things I always notice when you interview guests is that you dial in your prior broadcast radio skills to make the podcast relevant, interesting, and respectful to the guest. I confess that the subject matter turned onto a road I didn’t expect, but I was up for the ride (former horsewoman and trail rider here).
The podcast wandered into unaccustomed territory and some viewers went off the rails on self-righteous religious rants. I would encourage those viewers to ponder the message in their private prayer time and conduct themselves accordingly-and PRIVATELY. Based on this video, I think Emily and her family prayerfully exited one room, while grieving that leave-taking, and entered another room of love and peace. May they always be blessed.
I think the related stories were beautifully and respectfully expressed. The situation that was alluded to could be a difficult situation for any parent, and I could not imagine a parent who didn’t pray for understanding, but at the end of the day, loving one’s child unconditionally is the seat of grace and power in the context of a family unit.
To the haters, I say, read your Bible and refer to Matthew 23: 13-39 and Matthew 7: 9-11. All of the rigidity I have seen in the comments is exactly that of the Scribes and Pharisees. Don’t be a Pharisee. Virtue-signaling isn’t a virtue, recall Matthew 7: 1-3.
All said and done, it was not difficult extract the lesson of rooms and hallways in the context of our places in life; the things that we face; the old things that used to be, but are no longer, yet we are loathe to discard; and embracing the new room that loves us and supports us. I think this dovetails perfectly with Dawn’s seminal message of minimalism and decluttering, because so much of it is emotional and psychological, as is well evidenced by the feedback posted in the mentorship group and the TYHB group. I plan to purchase Emily’s books.

When I was in my deepest struggle, I camped out in the Old Testament. I saw how natural it is to wrestle with God and to have deep emotions about His decisions. There's a level of closeness in conflict.

Love does not mean agreeing with/embracing something someone is pursuing or struggling with. We are slaves either to sin or to God. We want to be kind and supportive but that can get mixed up with accepting sin that enslaves.
I've seen so many believers lose their way... they within a couple of years walk away from faith and the church once you start to try and make the confusion of the world okay.

Yes, it's important to examine what we have been taught against the Bible. God will show us the truth there. It contains everything He wants us to know. Thankfully, we can count on the fact that God doesn't change. But Satan is throwing all kinds of stuff at us and wants to destroy God's people, children, and families. If I believe His lies, instead of God's unchanging truth, I will not be able to love my children well. And their souls are at stake. Truth is always the best, even when it's hard. Knowing the truth and what's right or wrong is the only way I, or my children, will be aware of our sin and led to repentance. I can pray like crazy for my kids and love them deeply even when they are sinning, but when I allow them on the throne of my life that belongs to God, I am guilty of idolatry. Dawn, I've followed you for years. Hope this makes sense. It's meant with love.

It is so easy to think a situation is simple and if it isn’t being handled quickly you’re doing it wrong. For me I know anxiety and depression is bad and we don’t want it. in my mind if you took your medicine it all got better. Then someone close to me suffered and I realized that medication is far from the magic bullet I thought it was. I can sympathize with Emily hitting an unexpected situation and realizing that the quick answer she thought she knew wasn’t a quick answer. I understand wanting to have a conversation with the people you love and trust the most about the difficulty in your life and getting quick and not really helpful answers and realizing sadly that you need to go somewhere else.
For those complaining this was too religious. I hear what you are saying especially if you experienced religious trauma. But if you listen to her talking about her experience leaving her church as an experience of leaving a toxic family or a toxic friendship, I think it becomes more clear how universal the leaving without closer, without being able to tell your side of the story and defend yourself can be.

Loving and caring for people as Jesus commanded does not extend to accepting the sinning behavior. I can love you but I do not have to endorse behavior that is against Biblical teaching. God’s word is black and white. The woke movement wants it to be gray.

I have been listening to Dawn for 6-7 years, but this podcast really grieves me. The Word of God IS black and white and did not change just because our friend or family member decides not to believe it. Both of my adult children have walked away from God for a time and my daughter has yet to come back but she told me that she knows and believes the truth she just doesn't feel like doing it right now. The TRUTH DOES NOT CHANGE, WE DO. Yes, God loves everyone, and so should we, but He loves us enough to tell us when we are wrong and made a way for us to repent and get right with him. I felt like it was going in a direction I cannot support. Yes, love people with the love of Jesus, but we are to be set apart from sin as well.
I grieve too...she has been such a good influence in my life now probably for 5 years... I understand searching the scriptures and learning that you don't agree with what you were taught growing up by the church you grew up in. It's important. My son is attending Catholic school (we are Christian but not Catholic) and there have been times he has brought stuff home that caused us to search the scriptures. Even to understand that some of the things the culture in your childhood church fostered didn't line up with what they taught. But the deconstructing movement is a whole other thing.
The topics Dawn briefly threw out there in particular are issues that many families of faith have been under tremendous pressure to embrace. Loved ones laying down ultimatums to be celebrated otherwise cut off. This has been our experience. Dawn, if you read this, search scripture yes... put God first always. Satan is a deceiver... his talent is to lie to you and He desires always to separate you from the Lord. "Did God really say???..."
God cares for and loves others more than we do. Because of you, Dawn, I'm reading through scripture with the Bible Recap plan and understanding more and more about how patient, loving and dependable God is while reading through the Old Testament. His ways are higher than ours. He created us. He knows what we need more than we do and he knows our propensity to forget what He has told us. To become confused by our hearts and to become victims of the Enemy who wants to see us separated from Him. Trust God's ways over ours. Over what our hearts want.
Because of your influence in my life and the pressure (and frankly temptation at times) to fold...I'll be praying for you from a distance. You and anyone else who is searching to understand what God has taught us.❤

Too many Christians in the limelight have twisted scriptures and are living lives totally contrary to what the living breathing Word of God says. But, as believers, we need to be constantly examining our own attitudes and what comes out of our mouths as we are showing our faith with others.
Jesus loved the sinner but said “go and sin no more”.

Paul says in Phiippians 3:13 to forget what is past and strain toward what and where God is leading you. We all need to realize everything in life is "for now". God is constantly leading us onward to His goals for us. I don’t mean we forget the past but put it behind us as finished, a done deal, so to speak. And we should look to God and trust Him to lovingly lead us to the next place (or room) He wants us to be, for whatever His reasons. And our faith tells us He is working for our good and never for our harm. Romans 8:28 and Jeremiah 29:11.
Dawn, it is evident that you so love your people and want so deeply to care for your audience. But this conversation is wading into dangerous territory. There are objective truths described in the Bible, and things that are defined as sin. We are to speak the truth in love, but we still need to speak the TRUTH.
When things seem unclear or may be confusing, rather than turning to ourselves to make the decision, we should first turn back to God - to the Bible and to prayer. We do not have the truth within ourselves (without Him) - He is truth.

Dawn, I listened to this podcast last night hopefully to get motivation to spend this new week tackling a messy basement. I was very surprised at what I heard and concerned. I have watched and enjoyed both you and Diana's channels for a couple of years, and loved both of your books, This is the first time that I have had misgivings after listening to one of your messages. Someone in the comments suggested a book by Alisa Childers, and I have listened to Alisa's You Tube channel for a couple of years and she is really good. No, it is not about decluttering, but she had a crisis of faith at one time and has wonderful insights. Sean McDowell and Melissa Doughtery have great channels as well. Dawn, I hope you do not think that I am overstepping, but I think these channels can be very helpful.
This made me sad to hear. The bible is clear on what is sin and what isnt. We love others by drawing them away from sin. Not supporting it and agreeing with it. I agree with looking to the bible for yourself instead of believing what you are taught or what others say. But that means that you need to properly read and take to heart what the bible says...not twist it to find words that support what you want it to say.
I love the message in this podcast. I've recently experienced leaving someplace I never thought I'd leave, and it was painful but has brought with it a peace and relief.
Dawn, you are PHENOMENAL. You are clear, intelligent, caring, and down to earth. This video was no exception. Any “confusion” expressed in these comments is either feigned to hurl a passive aggressive insult or they are just short-circuiting. They aren’t able to see past what you describe as the “yes, of course that’s what we believe” because they have not had personal experience with a loved one struggling with sexuality in the face of a religion that has failed them. I have never liked you more than this video. You bravely stood up for what is right - love, understanding, compassion. These folks are big mad because you just flipped some tables over while talking to a modern day woman at the well. Bravissima!

When God gives you the gift of a child, do you tell “him” it isn’t good enough, you want it to be different. Or do you pray for acceptance and understanding. How does anyone know this wasn’t a way to reach them,not their child, a lesson. Not arguing a point, just saying no one knows God’s will.
Questioning is ok. However, Christians are to follow God's word - scripture, in the bible. We're to love, to be kind, but not to condone sin (including our own). Jesus sat with the sinners, he didn't sin with the sinners. Jesus said, "Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more." Ten commandments. Love the sinner, hate the sin.
Yes, Jesús sat with sinners, but he corrected the proud religious, he forgave those who repented, but the bible says God resists the proud.
The idea is not to stay a sinner. Through Jesus we become saints, repent (leave the sin behind, hate sin), baptized in water and filled with the Holy Spirit...then God calls you saints. Acts 2, 2. Cor. 5:17, you can see that in the beginning of the books of Paul...Romans, Galatians...to the saints in rome...

I listened to the end, and I have such a heavy heart. I have listened to you for years and you have been so open about your faith and I think God has blessed you because of it. But this episode so confusing and I listened to the end to see if there was any clairity and there was not.
Deconstruction is fine, Jesus even did it with the religious leaders when they are being legalistic and proud. However the bible is clear on sexuality. Yes we are supposed to Love others but we are suppoosed to love God first (Matt 22:37-39) And I don't know Emily but it is a huge red flag when you don't like the mantra to "Let Go, and Let God" as a Christian so she likes just "Let Go" better.
We honestly love others so much better when we love them in their sin but still speak the truth in love.

Hi Dawn! I just listened to this podcast. I need some clarification. Your guest speaker Emily stated that she has a child that questioned their sexuality. What specifically does that mean? Does her child think they should be the opposite gender or entertain same sex relationships? Also, Emily stated she decided to leave her church because her family was not supported. What does that mean?
My questions for you Dawn are do you support same sex relationships? Do you support people changing their gender & having gender surgery? Do you believe God made a mistake in creating a girl who wants to be a boy or vice versa? Do you believe God condones these things? As a Believer in Jesus & His Holy scripture, God is very clear about homosexuality. God is perfect in all His ways. Yes, we are commended to love God with our whole being & to love our neighbor as our self. In no way does that mean to change our gender. I believe & scripture backs it up, that gender identity confusion is a demonic spirit that creates confusion in the mind of those questioning their gender. There are demonic forces currently working in our world to destroy EVERYTHING God has created. These demonic forces are on assignment to destroy family, marriage, gender identity, church, education, government & anything God created. I beg you to please pray & ask Holy Spirit for truth, wisdom, revelation & understanding. We are living in the end times & satan does not have much time to kill, steal & destroy. Stealing someone's identity by causing the person to believe that he or she is not who God created him or her to be is the ultimate in DECEPTION!😢

Hi there, Dawn! I’m not one to usually comment on videos here on UA-cam…. But I felt compelled to write here. I personally was graciously moved by this conversation in this podcast. I genuinely had moments that I teared up listening to this raw and personal conversation between you two, as it felt so closely hitting home. I think it’s something that so many in their faith put there head down and just accept what is being told to them in their community…but you are so right in that at the fundamental our relationship with the Lord is ours. He gives us the safe space to have these conversations and to discuss, rather than be quick to establish this black or white mentality of an answer. I have personally experienced an even closer relationship and partnership with God, as I’ve opened up to allow space for these thoughts and feelings. To dive into the way Jesus accepted and led with love not judgement. For me to focus on MY relationship with Him…. and I am truly grateful for this episode to give a view into having to have these hard conversations sometimes… I can’t even imagine how tough it can sometimes be to be so continually vulnerable sharing these different intimate conversations especially regarding faith. But I truly appreciate you sharing this! I wish I could better eloquently express my gratitude for you sharing this episode with us, but I wanted to put something out there after having just listened

Super sad...the new age movement is SO attractive for different reasons. It's easy. It doesn't offend. Jesus offended people. What?? Ya, Jesus, the very definition of Love, got angry and hated sin. We don't get to pick what we are comfortable with when it comes to the Bible. It's not about us or our comfort level. And calling sin sin isn't hate. It's truth. It's hard to call truth truth sometimes. It hurts to call someone you love, who is struggling, a person who is sinning. But that's the deal. It isn't our call. We seek to live compassionately as Christians but we don't get to rewrite the Bible. I think it has become an excuse to say, "I'm investigating what I actually believe." It's more like, "I'm in the process of deciding how I feel about certain issues." The heart is deceitful...
God doesn't need your help in judgment. Try love without judgment.

Perhaps one of the reasons most people find Christians to be judgmental isn’t primarily due to encounters with actual Christians-but due to a world that is increasingly hostile to Jesus Christ. There were many who left Him, not because He didn’t love them well enough, but because He respected their free will (John 6).

Hymn lyrics from different seasons of life often take the place of the idea of a mantra. Literal scripture memorization work is living instruction which teaches multiple spiritual truths as we literally speak God’s Word. It is a simplicity of faith which confounds the wisdom of common sense. The act of leaving a toxic space is supported in scripture, do so and continue on to WALK OUT YOUR SALVATION.
Dawn, thank you for this conversation and for recommending Emily’s book. I listened to the audio version twice and each time found it to be so helpful. The section where she wrote about how being a peacekeeper can sometimes stand n the way of living into your true self particularly resonated with me. I also appreciated the conversation the two of you had about taking the time to explore your beliefs. ❤

I am saddened by some of the responses I’m seeing.
First let me say I am no longer a Christian because in the time and place I grew up, Christianity was presented as cruel and unforgiving. I cannot and will not believe that a loving God will damn an innocent 5 y/o to hell or assign them to purgatory forever because he or she died without accepting Jesus as their personal savior, in part because they’d never heard of Jesus. This is not hyperbole. I was actually told this.
In a class I attended on the Bible from a Christian University, one sentence stood out, “The Bible is the perfect word of God interpreted and written down by imperfect man.” When you read the Bible do you give more weight to and obscure verse in Leviticus or do you need Jesus exhortations to love others and his command to cast stones only if you are free of sin. Let me add as a CIS heterosexual I have no dog in the sexuality fight. And I don’t search out verses to support any view. My readings largely took place before this became an “thing”. Yes, I am old.
I will speak only for myself, in that virtually all of what we know ( intellectually) of God was written down by imperfect man. I can either accept their infallibility or I can follow my heart and love others and give them grace knowing that God is perfectly capable in knowing what is in their heart and judging them accordingly, I can not. I can only live my life as well and as kindly as I can, trusting God to know what is in my heart and judge me accordingly.
We do need to let our faith become our own. We all have questions, and we aren’t going to always get the answers. We are all searching. But I just hold tight to the truths I know: God loves me, wants a real relationship with me, and hates sin. Jesus came to die for me and take the punishment for my sins. The Bible is without error and the guidebook for our lives and the story of God that he wants to share with us. Aside from that, I can still be friends with others who don’t share all of my same beliefs. It could make it harder, but God puts us in relationship with people for a reason and season. Also, you have the choice. You can listen this and decide it’s not for you, or take the bits and pieces you need, or take none of it. You choose! I still love Dawn and truly believe that God is using her in some miraculous ways. But guess what? She is still human too! Please everyone try to remember that. We have different opinions and you can choose to stay or go. Lean into Jesus and the Holy Spirit. And if he says stay then stay, if he says it’s time to go, then go! Christians can seriously be the most judgmental people! But we are to still love one another and be kind to one another. Ephesians 4:32

I think you made this video just for me. I struggle with cPTSD and I felt like so many of this answered prayers for me concerning friendships and my home and my love for Christ and how my struggles are very personal just like my relationship with Christ. I just felt so much truth in that conversation.

hmmm : not sure what the guest speaker and her books are all about. You can love a person even though they are sinning or struggling, we all do, however, we should NOT put that choice above GOD!!! when people say God does not make mistakes, HE did NOT create homosexuality!! something somewhere, went wrong. there are many reasons for why we sin or are cursed. things can run through families, alcoholism for example and the more knowledge we have the more we can figure this out. like for instance did you know the spirit of alcoholism is in the same group as workaholic? they are both bad, but one is seen as good in the world, but it's not. one of the worse things about homosexuality is that those experiencing it or others don't just want to commit the sin, they want everyone to agree that it's ok; they want to make a sin Not a sin and that is where the beginning of them thinking that God is against them begins and HE is not against them, he is against the sin that will take them to hell. Please don't hear what I am not saying. If you truly love someone you will be truthful with them and tell them that homosexuality is a sin. People can be delivered from all sin. Jesus healed them all. don't give up praying for your loved ones. Jesus said after healing people, go and sin no more. God says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. there is so much to discover in the Word of God that most have not even tapped into yet. I pray for those in these difficult situations and those who love them. God speed

More confusion than anything….and misunderstanding of the Bible as well there is nothing new age about the Bible and the understanding of it it stands on its own

Whether it’s sexual sin or whatever sin out there, we’re to actively work to flee from it period. And in a loving way, share the truth to others when we see they’re following the wide worldly road verse the straight and narrow.
Speaking of sexual and gender issues, that’s why I LOVE Jackie Hill Perry and point anyone who says they’re gay etc to her. She once was gay and involved with same sex, but Jesus changed her and she’s happily married with a man and have 3-4 children ❤ PTL 🙏 her book is ‘Gay girl, Good God’. 👍 always be loving, yes, absolutely, but as Christians we’re also being tested all the time if we’re just going to follow the world and say abortion, same sex relationships or changing gender etc etc is ok! No!! We have to stand up, again, in love ❤ Bible says many will fall away in the end, don’t let that be you! We’re also called to be “in the world but not of the world”….. all the answers to life are in God’s Word, unfortunately even Christians don’t read it or enough and don’t pray enough, then wonder why the enemy is really attacking them. God wants best for us. The only way to have that is to follow His Word. Period.

Oh Dawn, this is a very troubling podcast. I do not know your religious upbringing, but by being in God's Word He will reveal to you understanding thru the Holy Spirit. Dig into your Bible and He will reveal the truth. Be careful...God's word never changes as He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We cannot be swayed by loved ones sin and readjust the Bible's truth. In fact if we love like Jesus we will confront sin head on in love to help steer away from sin. Being like Jesus He never condoned sin but loved the sinner to teach the truth and die for us.

I'm confused what's wrong with "let go and let God" ? I'm sure holding a podcast is very difficult, but I pray Dawn is continuing to spend time in the Word.
Perhaps because it is too trite and doesn’t acknowledge that we were given free will and the ability to seek guidance and make changes ourselves. I rarely pray asking for anything. Virtually all of my prayers are prayers of thanksgiving. I believe I have to use the blessings I already have before essentially saying, “that isn’t enough I want more.” If I NEED more it is available. JMHO. When I pray for others I pray for understanding and support. Not take away this disease, but if this is your will, help them through this.

I'm left confused. You left because you questioned and they didn't like that or you questioned and changed your mind about what you thought the Bible said about that subject and they didn't like that so you left? Again, confused!
If she is confused it is due to her own lack of understanding and being mislead or the church that she went to mislead her, if a church cannot talk about salvation hell and everything in between that is not a church I want to be in our church always says to back everything they up against the Bible and that if it doesn’t hold true then to leave

The Bible is very clear on what’s right and wrong , and how we should live our lives, feeling that you need to expand and dig deeper to see what you really believe, is really you just trying to stretch the Word to fit your situation and make you comfortable with what Jesus called SIN
No digging deeper is in fact trying to understand the word!!!! The Bible also says to love those people that are different because we are all in fact his children!! There is no but in the Bible it’s I love you period exclamation mark. No matter the sin God is love and God is forgiveness!
There is only one truth, we have to line up with it, I can make up my mind, but that doesn't make a lie a truth, even though the world is trying to tell us that. I know this sounds radical, the bible is radical, that's why they crucify Jesus, because they didn't like his radical points of view.
God will be the final judge, not our opinion...we better start preaching the truth on and out of church, we all need to repent and turn back to God through Jesus. If we like it or not.
Dawn- please remain in the decluttering world- leave interpretation of Scripture to those who know what they are doing. You may be leading many down a dangerorus path without intending to.
It is possible to fully love, just like Jesus did, and yet stand on truth, that God created us, male and female In his image and established marriage. This was confirmed by Jesus in the New Testament too. Otherwise, what are we going to tell our children? We have to give them a solid answer when they ask questions about gender and marriage. If we can question this truth stated in the Bible, we can question anything. We erase the boundary between truth and non-truth. Yes, there is pain and yes, we are called to fully love and never cast anyone out, but we have to stand on truth.

Thank you SO much Dawn for having this conversation. If we are too fearful, rigid, prideful to have meaningful conversations about the human experience, it’s hard to see much future for this planet. We need to embrace each other more and be willing to be a little uncomfortable in order to live peacefully with all our neighbors, and our family. It pains me to see someone struggling, or feeling shame for something that is beyond their control. We need to feel loved, especially during the most difficult times.

We have to change our emotions to fit scripture not scripture to fit our emotions. It is good to question. It is good to wrestle with your faith but at the end of the day we need to be careful we are doing so to know God, not to make God into our own imge of what we want Him to be.

I haven’t listened to the podcast yet - I got caught up reading comments and I will just say… I love you know matter what you believe, and it seems to me that it’s the “Christians” who are the most judgemental, and who use fear and are afraid. I am comfortable enough with not knowing about life after death and believe there is more to life than worrying about what comes next! Most of my friends are Christian (we homeschool so it’s common), and a lot of them turned to religion out of fear of threat of hell. Just something on my mind. I appreciate all of your work so much and thank you again!!!
Just a question to think about…If hell is real, should we have a fear of it?
If you are in a building on fire, there is such thing as a healthy fear of the fire. Though, the desire to live is the bigger motivation to escape, just as a fulfilling life knowing God is the truest motivation to follow Christ.

If someone else tells me that the house is on fire, I can react by getting me and others out. Within the hour it will be clear whether there was a fire or not. And the damages that might have occurred can be assessed. That is a totally different situation from someone triggering alarms about hell after life. Who do you think have the most opportunity to be open for good and love inside herself and in life, the one accepting that she doesn't know what comes next or the one convinced that hell is there for some after life if they don't follow the rules by those who are threatening her with hell? Anything in life that comes from fear is at risk to damage yourself and others. No matter what beleif it comes from.

@@natalieeubank4533 That sounds like a very petty saviour. Why would anyone who is love and a saviour punish someone who choose to not let her life be driven by fear? The only right way to deal with a relationship like that is to get out of it. I guess our view of reallity is too far away from each other for an exchange to be meaningful. I wish you the best!
@@BodilWandt I would say for myself, I believe hell exists because God/Jesus has said it exists in the Bible and there is a great amount of evidence to believe what has been written in the Bible including fulfilled prophecy, historical evidence and the great amount of witnesses who lost lives for their belief that Jesus rose from the dead. If someone rises from the dead, I’m going to stop in my tracks and pay attention to what they say, even if I don’t like it.
I don’t know how much you’ve looked into evidence for the Bible, but Mike Winger is a UA-camr with a great video series on evidence for the Bible that has been very interesting to me, just in case you are curious.
I agree that fear is not necessarily the best motivation for every decision, but fear can be a helpful emotion to push us to action, in a variety of circumstances. Fear in and of itself, should not be criticized. Some things warrant fear and some things don’t warrant fear. That was my only point about the fire. Christians share the good news about Jesus, because we want them to experience true freedom in Christ. In the analogy, it would as someone warning you the building is on fire because they want your life spared, even if you can’t see it for yourself. Yes, eventually you will see the truth for yourself, but the question is will it be too late? One may be clear in a matter of hours, the other years. No analogy is perfect.
Clearly, we won’t have absolute certainty about the afterlife until after we die. However, we are forced to make decisions everyday with incomplete information.

Galatians 5 says clearly that homosexuality praises are clearly sin, works of the flesh...ppl that practice those things will not enter the kingdom of God...God is low, but God is also just...he said in Genesis 1 clearly to humanity, go multiply....practicing h. Will not that do that, that simple.

Jesus said love one another and judgment belongs to God. Jesus never said love everyone except for that guy. Look to improve yourself to achieve your own salvation. I want to say this as gently as possible, IMHO you would be washed with grace if you stop your own sins of pride and judgment, instead of using the Bible to rail against others. It's not supposed to be a weapon. Always remember Jesus loves everyone... you too! Try loving everyone! ❤❤❤❤
