hi it's been 8 years since this video was posted but I've got something to say: "are you hungry?" is a terrible red carpet question. Shailene is a professional actress, she doesn't have to put up with patronizing, boring questions. "Which one of your fellow nominees deserves to win," "Are you glad your performance is getting awards recognition," "Are there any celebrities you hope to meet tonight," are all reasonable red carpet questions because they are inquiring about the actor's thoughts on a professional event- something people at home will actually want to hear about. Hell, even "What do you think your chances of winning are," would've been a better question. "Are you hungry?!" is the most irrelevant, uninteresting question I've ever heard an interviewer ask tbh. Literally no one cares. Shailene wasn't being rude, she was just impatient with a rather unprofessional interviewer.
The Pete Holmes Show is a COMEDY show. She literally sets up the premise of asking pointless questions in the beginning you dunce

She sarcastically said "I wanna ask the hard hitting questions" and then it cuts to her asking an obviously silly question about the dude's face. At the age of fifteen, Shailene was diagnosed with scoliosis and was put in a chest-to-hips plastic brace to stop her spine from curving further.
That's why she got pissed off when the reporter asked if she was hungry because people with scoliosis are naturally very skinny. The interviewer was rude. Shailene is a sweet person.

All i saw was Shailene being a genuine caring person. The message I heard there was "dont starve yourself, your body needs food so feed it." I actually found it to be a caring and supportive response.
