Your page has so much value!
Thank you!
I just got the SmallRig one for 114mm lenses. It’s been fantastic. Damn cheap too.
There are too many options, we should just be issued one by the government at birth.
great channel! what are the exact dimension of the clamp on ring you are using wit the misfit atom and the vespid?? thanks!
I believe it's this one www.wexphotovideo.com/bright-tangerine-misfit-atom-114-80-mm-clamp-on-ring-1606177/?cpgnid=18007676301&adext=&account=853-353-2386&campaign=&group=&mkwid=_dm&pcrid=&kword=&match=&plid=&pgrid=&ptaid=&si=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwp4m0BhBAEiwAsdc4aGsgjEJH2UtpUG7POF1NgX39hsiS_TgnodoNGNRKb8eCBq_4Q1onNxoCmXMQAvD_BwE

Thanks! Yes plenty more on the way!!
I own a Proaim MB10 matte box which is a knockoff of Misfit Atom, as well as Tilta MB-T12 matte box. I'm strictly against any matte box systems that only accept proprietary filters as it's severley limiting, especially when a director or producer asks for a specific type of universal filter to be used.
Proaim MB10 is a nice lightweight option for gimbals, especially stripped down to being just a filter holder, or when I need to be extremely close to the subject, however me and my ACs tend to leave a shit ton of fingerprints on the filters because of the way they're mounted to it. One big con is that you can't use split diopters or Rota Pola filters with it, as it doesn't accept trays. Also I find a process of fitting a plastic ring quite tedious at times.
When I don't need to be super lightweight, Tilta MB-T12 is the perfect budget solution for me. It has interchangeable backs, so I can pre install 80mm OD back for my Vespids and never have to deal with any adapter rings. It accepts industry standard filter trays from the likes of Arri LMB, so I can rent any polarizer, diopter or anything else and be confident that it will fit into it. My biggest gripe is the top flag which protrudes to the sides of the mattebox and is therefore a pain to pack into a case.
Yeah I hear you on the finger prints. The tilta MB-T12 is excellent albeit heavy when stacked with filters which is why I love the misfit atom. I'll probably pick up the tilta at some point.
I love the plastic ring system on the Misfit atom it literally means you can remove the matte box in seconds and chuck on another lens...
The Eiger would be perfect if it allowed standard filters. I can understand why they haven't done that and it's priced accordingly, but I like to use things like black satin and glimmer glass over their version of a pro mist.
Proprietary filter matteboxes = pay less now / pay more later.
Company goes under = have to re-buy into a new system.
Want to use specialist filters only available in pv size = have to spend money on another matte box.
