Disclaimer: No interns were mistreated in the production of this episode.
Marco Bucci I can be your unpaid intern if you are looking for one 😀
I felt so bad for him :( That sad face tho'
Hah, that short segment in the beginning felt like a "You don't know Jack" game.
Marco Bucci I knew he deserved it.
I'm having a tough time believing that man
Every 10 minutes of your content is more valuable than the 4 years of my fine arts college classes. You're doing god's work, mate.
No kidding. Be glad you're not going through it today. They don't teach fundamentals any more, or how to use paint for that matter
Word. My teachers use to complain that when they were students, they had to draw and paint all day, and how lucky we are that we are taught only how to be artsy and sell the crap out of shit pieces of art. Just an example, I got a 9/10 (equivalent to an A in the US) on an assignment that was just a 20x10 cm piece of plywood I found on the floor 30 minutes before the class started. Didn't paint on it, didn't alter it in any way. But I sold it, and they bought it.
He is doing what an artist does. Simplifying.
You ever considered working at a gallery? lol
I don't think I could live with myself knowing that i'm a being paid for bullshitting. Like, paid a lot... wait, maybe I could!
The separation of light and shadow should be as clear as the separation in quality between your videos and all other art tutorials on youtube.
Indeed!!!
true
Rightttt
That was some real shade
Finally, someone that ACTUALLY knows how to explain lighting and shading.
This is no way to treat an intern, I'm reporting you to PETA.
Brilliant video, thank you so much! :)
Peta is the devil though
I just found your channel, and your 10 minute series has changed the way I see art and composition. Thank you so so SO much for all the hard work and love you put into your videos. You explain very clearly, concisely, and you look like you have so much fun, it makes me want to immediately start drawing myself. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks a lot :) And I'm glad to hear the videos are helping!
Always so on point!
Honigball Wait... you are Honigball! I remember you. You were the first let's player I ever watched! And then you did art videos called "Kritzelpixel" :D Those were cool, I'm going to check if you uploaded any new ones since I lost track of your channel.
It's really awesome to see an artist, I looked up to years earlier, seek the same art advice as me now. (Not that I like your art less nowadays. It's more that my own painting style has changed since then and I am now longer trying to "copy" your style. :) )
Oh hello! :D The WWW is a small place sometimes! XD
I started an artchannel for my painting stuff a while ago. So it is no longer mixed with my gameplaye videos :D
Okay, from everything I expected, this was _very_ surprising in a positive way!
I love a lot of your current projects and it's somehow surprising, but also fitting pretty well to see you here :D
Wow, now this is even a bigger motivation for me than it was before... holy xD incredible how fast the mood to drawing can come up
Bucci gang Bucci gang Bucci gang...
Milos Rocenovic we here Bucci! :D
Milos Rocenovic spent 10 grand on new paint
HAHA YES
Seriously! I don't know where I'd have been in life without your videos. Excellent as usual!
Is it you though? Troy McClure?
I agree! This is an EXCELLENT video!
I don't know why but the example painting just cracks me up..
Barbarian holding a bow riding a woman that's riding a lizard.
Great lesson btw!
haha, yeah. Frazetta was not known for subtlety :)
This episode gave me like six "aha moments." I made a piece with values first, and then colorized it, and oh, my. It worked. Thank you.
I think I could get you a coffee much faster. Just saying.
"Here's a photograph of... me, actually."
Well god damn he's so fine he's also art himself
I always look forward to each episode. Up until now I didn't take any notes, but I think I'll rewatch all the episodes and do take notes.
I really love this series! It will make me look at my paintings in another way. Thank you so much.
How can this guy be so loveable?
Marco, I wish that I've found this videos when I was in art school. This channel is like art for dummies, exactly like someone like me needs hahaha
Hey Marco, your series of videos on 10 Minutes to Better Painting is the best resource on UA-cam to understand the basic nuances as well as the overall big picture of painting. Thank you for making these!!
Five years later I am watching this series again and I even more love it! Marco, you are my master. To be able to refresh my understanding and further develop my skills is wonderful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your insights and wisdom. 💛
Very succinctly explained. I have been doing art for years and still learned a lot from this.
This series is of such high quality 😭 I’ve been waiting for this episode! Tysm
Just want to say you are the best UA-cam artist I ever found! I watched many art tutorials on UA-cam, but most of them were not helpful for me. Marco, you're really the best UA-cam art teacher. I enjoy your videos, especially the shape episode, it told me a lot. Hope you can keep making more videos like these, thank you!
Love this series, seeing them laid out in video form helps.
These series are the one I keep coming back to watch from time to time. So fundamental yet so helpful. Might be the best painting tutorial on the Internet so far!Keep up the work Marco!
I love these series. Theyre done in such great understandable funny and educative way. Keep it up.
I am so happy I stumbled into your videos and after having watched some of the basic for becoming a better painter I have also looked at my own paintings with new eyes - it is truly inspiring -
These videos a blessing upon this site.
Thanks a lot for making these dude. I watch each of them at least ten times.
This is by far the best explanation of value and planes I have ever encountered. EVER, that's saying something! Thanks Prof Bucci, you are making us all a little smarter with every video!
the quality of these videos is incredible. the video itself, and the information given. thank you so much for your hard work.
Excellent build on shapes lesson. The compressed value scale is something I need to make more use of. Thanks!
Seriously, your videos are so enjoyable! I love your voice and random segments of jokes in between such great concepts. Brilliant editing and production quality too!
Oh wow, oh wow, oh wowowowowow. This tutorial was so well put together. You have effectively strengthened my fundamentals in the matter of minutes and now I'm hooked! For the first time I feel like I'm having fun while learning the more "technical" side of painting, something which I've been struggling with for so long. Honestly I came here because I was having trouble rendering using the AO method, and I thought a quick tutorial would get me into shape, but now I feel like watching your whole '10 minute series' instead!
Sorry for rambling, but I'm just so blown away by how much I learned. Thanks Marco. You earned a loyal subscriber. Please keep doing what you do!! It really helps little aspiring artists like me who want to be as amazing as you in the future. Much love!
First lesson I watched..loved it!
I love you too
Hands down the best video I've ever watched describing/explaining light and shadow values! Thanks for sharing!
these keep getting better and better, I love the way you make them informative and fun to watch at the same time!
This is gold! Thanks for taking the time to break it down for us dummies.
The poor Boy at the end, he gave his best to bring you the Coffe.
I´m in a learning progess, and every Viedio about that theme, that has an simple expletaiton helps me.
Sorry, for my bad english gramma ._.
This is freaking fantastic. I am so grateful I was lucky enough to find this channel!

Marco you are absolutely killing it with these recent lectures
This was so good, thank you! You break down the concepts in such an easy to digest way. It really helps breaking down these complex concepts into simple ideas and then illustrating their use and effectiveness. bravo!
I really enjoyed your energy and the simplicity of your explanations
Love this series, man! I would say you've distilled the essence of it - alla prima, baby!
Excellent work Marco. You have a gift for explaining art clearly and simply while making it extremely entertaining. From a Marco to a Marco grazie mille.
Just glued together 5 years of casual study in 10 minutes. Can't wait to watch more!
I learn so much from these videos and they are interesting too. It's like being in an fun art class!
Thank you for making these amazing tutorials! My confidence in digital painting has grown, and I now find it incredibly enjoyable! I'm still new to it all, but, so far, the difference between my work before and after is clear. Thank you again for these concise videos!
That's great to hear. Glad the videos are helping you out!
This was a great video, I've been struggling with light and shadow. The advice you gave in this video like the Asaro head really helped.
So thankful for this series. I've learned so much.

I don't know how you make them so funny AND meritorical. I'm learning THAT from you on top of the art classes. Cheers- and tons of it!

Wow. Great content. Can't believe how helpful these videos are. Thank you so much, Marco 🙏🏾
2:10 that Gru writing "bucci gang bucci gang" cracked me up so hard :'D
One of the best... Hell, maybe the best UA-cam art tutorial channel ever.
I love that your videos are so expressive. Both the way you speak, your intonation, the way you make jokes but also the way you edit the videos. Thank you for that!
Thanks! I put time and effort into all those things, so it's nice when somebody points it out :)
Tremendous episode in a tremendous series, thank you for making it.
Dude, in 10 minutes you give us so much knowledge and even add some fun stuff to keep us engaged! You're the beast lol
Thank you for that. Your videos are awesome!
Wow... thanks. Been working on values for a while and this really helped!
I love this series! Learning so much from each episode!
Very simple and well explained video. Got more out of this than about 50 other tutorials I have found. Thanks!
Thank you! I love how you are both skilled in art and in explaining. Also your voice is so clear, calm and professional. You seem to be in a right place doing a right thing!
(been not sure about entertaining part of your show with a little guy but he appeared twice only so I think it's not too much (in my opinion))
Take care!
Man...your tutorials are the BEST produced art videos I have ever seen, even compared to Proko videos like holy cow.
The best explanation of light and shadow i ever seen, simplification is the key, thank you very much,

Thank you Marco for creating such a great content !!
absolutely loved it!
I'm wondering what would happen though if we would choose to get the halftones from another side of the spectrum ( closer to the blacks ), I`ll need to try it out :)
"I like dogs" Ha ha! Made me LOL 😀 The little gems in your videos are gold!
You are a life saver. Best painting instruction on youtube.
wow seriously, i dont comment much, i just happened to find your videos, amazing!!! educational with really solid information, very humorous, and extremely good explanations and made things easy to understand!!!!! amazing, I dont know how you could be so knowledgeable and experienced in these as well as be so good at making these ideas to explain and make them so funny with good comedy gaps and stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks :) To address that last part, I've been teaching for over 10 years, and have always been a film-lover. So my painting lessons have had time to evolve, enough for them to be distilled down to clear examples. Then I just plug that into some classic storytelling/filmic beats, and boom, you have this UA-cam series :)
All the best!
WoW! Brilliant! A million thanks for these videos.
Good day.
Really nice video, It's well done! Fast pace, no frills, quick to watch and with many hints. Useful!👍
