    I always end up overdoing it and end up with a joint injury or tendonitis etc. Trying to dial it back cause having to take weeks off muscle groups because of injuries is the worst.

    Very good insight, totally needed to watch this. I do so much mobility work my joints hold strong and for some reason that translates to good muscle recovery

    What about time under tension with light weight? Let's say if you reach out about near 1h of time under tension for a full body isometric workout, can the nervous system be fatigued and would that be considered as overtraining?

    I feel amazing every time I take 2 even 3 days off. But mostly do just 1 then 3 to 4 on. I really should beat it into myself that I'll get more benefits going to the gym less.

      If it helps you mentally to still go to the gym, try adding in more restorative activities such as mobility or yin yoga.

    I have worked out high volume since I started lifting and over the years I've gotten to where some days I'll do 45-55 sets between 2 body parts. I know I'm also eating too few calories and not enough protein but I feel no issues, no joint pain, or sluggishness, I feel great. Because of the advice from this channel I'm going to back off of the sets for a 3-4 week training cycle to see if it will help add more muscle.

      I’d youre even able to complete workouts with that many sets that’s a clear indication you’re really not working that hard. There’s no reason to ever be doing that many sets

      @@Soccasteve I've been lifting like that for years and I lift very heavy my body has just adapted to that style

      Maybe its time to stop excercing and start training ?

    • @mattjohnson91
      @mattjohnson91 3 роки тому

      @@MultiDatura what do you mean by that? I've been lifting for 15 years I've been a personal trainer for 7 years. I alter my routine up every 3-4 weeks but generally I gravitate to high volume workouts because it feels better for my body. I still out lift most of the guys in my gym so its not like I'm throwing around baby weights. I generally like to train hypertrophy rep and rest ranges unless I'm doing big heavy lifts but like I said I alternate pretty frequently so I also alternate to high intensity practically no rest giant set workouts, time under tension workouts, I go through routines with the other trainers at my gym to try exercises I don't as often, I just respond well to high volume and always keep my total number of sets high. The only reason I commented saying I wanted to try less volume based on their recommendation is because I only eat one time per day super late after my job and my own work outs and generally only eat about 2000 calories and 100 grams of protein per day on good days. I know my nutrition isn't good enough so I know I am overtraining it is just tough to tell yourself less is more and to stop a workout before getting to the point where I feel good.

    2.5 hours is hard but doable but I need to train less to have more energy to go hard in posing, stretching, yoga, hardcore recovery like ice & hot baths. Balancing and doing everything continously and consistently is hard.

    this is so bullshit if you're actually over training (you're not) it's BLATANTLY obvious. The fact that you have to youtube "over training" is most likely an indicator that you're not actually over training. Not trying to hate but I think they are just saying a bunch of shit just to say shit on a podcast.
