I went digging through the grateful dead set databases and found no versions where Tennessee Jed was played before it (the guitar riff from 1:34 to 1:44) Though it's most likely that the guys were discussing which song to play next and Althea was picked instead of Tennessee Jed. So that was a red herring. Don't make me listen to all 272 versions to find this one.

the Tennessee Jed sounds earlier than brent, who is certainly on keys in althea, it sounded cut together
