I take BJJ and respect BJJ, but this is a wrestling Hip-heist.

It is super similar of a movement - there are some keys in this that a hip heist typically doesn’t emphasize. In wrestling, you usually aren’t doing a hip heist off your back. For this it changes the nature of the movement because you can’t just turn your hips over. You need to keep one foot (the eye of the needle) planted on the floor to maintain connection between you and the ground so you don’t get turned over, and still offer up a regular. Secondly, you need to go from perpendicular to parallel to your opponent to avoid mount and back takes.

I have Tony CECCHINE's SNAP-NO-TAP Catch Wrestling Series which I purchased in 2009.
Tony CECCHINE teaches you how to escape side control from being pinned on your back using a bridge and hip-heist manoeuvre.
In fact, Tony CECCHINE had ICWS Seminar DVDs 1-3 (which I also purchased in 2003) where he lectures and demonstrates the hip-heist when you have your opponent in your scissors (aka guard.)
I think that it's cool that grappling and submission disciplines can borrow and learn from one another.
I am just identifying the wrestling/catch wrestling similarities of hip-heist and BJJ's *thread-the-needle.*
