I use the same method, it's more organic and nature for our fingers when we grip the nock. ❤
You know what, I was thinking back at this video because of how (1) I've been using "arrows between forefinger and thumb" for years and (2) the method of sliding it forward till it's clear and then pull straight back, that is SO effective I use it every time I have my arrows wolverine style, one arrow between each pair of fingers with that pinch draw version of Slavic, and I kept thinking to myself "there's gotta be a way to make this efficient for running" since you replied to one of my comments telling me it wasn't suitable for running.
But here's what I was trying out while training a while ago for experimentation, after trying this exact same method since using the slide-over-the-string with the arrows in my hand like that often leads to dropping them (I might try it again though, if I get good results then I might do a video and credit you and Barton)
I was doing this while fast-walking, just to clarify, with the arrows between the index and middle fingers. So, I was doing pretty much what you have shown at 1:51 - 2:06 there, grabbing the side of the nock using the middle finger for a "cradle" as Mack calls it, like at 3:40 there. It's in that pinch right when it's against the side of the bow or right before that, then slid the arrow forward and back while the draw hand was turned leftward slightly to tighten the grip on the extra arrows. So what you can do is use the thumb to feel the nock groove and/or the side of it, then slide it forward and back, lock and draw just like what we see here.
I'm not the best at it yet as far as target results, the ONLY reason I'm suggesting this as far as where to hold the arrows in the draw hand---like, way at the base of the fingers with a good squeeze to hold them---is from having tested it while on the move. I'll have to try again later but yeah this is what I was doing tonight, if you decided to try it like that then you can cycle each arrow into place using the thumb or by "grabbing" each one with the forefinger tip the way you would with thumb draw.
Hi! Love your videos. You’re a very good teacher. I have a question tho: when loading a new arrow, how do you avoid the string interacting with the other arrows you’re holding with your thumb?
I love Slavic draw. To me personally it's the most comfortable and effective draw method. It also helps to draw back any weight bow. Heavier bows can be drawn back more easier with Slavic draw that with thumb draw. With Slavic draw you can even use knockless arrows for super speed shooting. Because you can use your index and thumb to hold the arrow. I love Slavic draw
It's every bit as easy to draw with the thumb......thumb draw is a superior release and draw technique as less friction on the string upon release means an increase in arrow velocity, also the thumb draw gives you an average of four inches more draw than a finger draw ....an increase of four inches in the power stroke results in greater arrow velocity.....greater velocity greater power greater penetration.....the thumb draw was likely adopted at a time when it became necessary to fight armored opponents
@@jareth7456 cool to know! Thanks. However I think I'm comfortable with Slavic because I used this method starting off. Then when I tried doing thumb release. It felt awkward and hurt my thumb lol.
3:41 the key to doing that and being able to put it directly on the string is using the thumb to feel the nock groove and/or side of the nock, and with that deep hook able to nock quickly. But that's just me, you might've tried that already by now for all I know

Been doing similar for a while it's the best draw method for fast shooting, it's very comfortable and now I can shoot like legolas, Hawkeye, and green arrow!😉
I can’t use the name martial archery anymore, c😢 they said the term martial archery was a copyright which is horrible because all archery should be considered a martial art. But that’s American laws for ya lol. And dude I love this way of shooting, 1 arrow per second is super fast and efficient especially while running and that time is exactly what I recommend.

It is not as fast as the fastest on youtube yet but eh! You have improved a lot since your first video. Also you have solid basis in shooting in movement so I am pretty confident that you will reach their level very quickly at this rate (remember that Lars Andersen, the one who opened the way, it took him many years to be that fast)
Personally I still have difficulties with fast shooting because I am using a powerful bow, a 50 lbs. While you try to mix out running archery with fast shooting I am trying myself to mix out hunting archery with fast shooting.
The big difficulty is to find the right material, thanks to you and Armin Hirmer I managed to find my bow and my arrows, so the Jackal Archery Assyrian 50 lbs at 28" and I recently received the same arrows that you use from Alibow but mine are red with alumni nocks.
Problem is for me that I cannot use my bow without thick protections, it is simply not possible. Wrapping my fingers doesn't work and thumb rings can be a problem to nock quickly. I found some solution like Mack's tactical archery did using finger saviors on the string.
The problem of this device being that it doesn't give you much space to nock the arrow so I still need to practice a lot.
So far: 1 arrow every 2-3 seconds, impossible to walk or move while I do it yet. But we will do it someday^^
1 arrow per second is super awesome and it’s what I recommend the most. I actually recommend 1 arrow every 3 seconds, and he blows past that.

I'd love to see a running/jumping/turning/etc. video of you doing this "shower shooting" from the draw hand, holding with forefinger and thumb, especially because I've been trying to work on this method myself---using the web of the hand to hold the arrows since I keep dropping them when I'm using the actual digits of the finger for this---and slide with that pinch (which is different for me but feels worth experimenting since I wonder how much more sturdy it is than when you've got all the fingers on the right)
I changed my style lately. This one is not suitable for running archery that much :)
@@CharliesRunningArchery Ah ok. I mean, (don't take this the wrong way but) makes more sense since they more suitable to drop out of the web of the hand unless the pinch is WAY tight. Obviously the pinch with the slide forward is a great starting point, so now I'm pretty curious about what it's switched to from this.

That slavic method with push the string next to the arrow method. This is what I have been practicing, and yes I also think it's the fastest. But how are you getting 1.2 seconds per arrow? It still takes a moment to get the arrow in your hand and oriented properly (which I can do automatically, but still not fast enough for 1.5 seconds per arrow. My best rate of fire is still about 1 arrow per 3 or 4 seconds.
Well, that 1,2 per arrow is possible when stationary + nocks turned the right way and all my moves with hand goes right. Pretty tough conditions to meet most of the time. But it's possible. Thanks for sharing! :)

1 arrow per second is very doable, and 1 arrow per second while running is absolutely awesome,
If you practice his tutorial you will be able to achieve 1 arrow per second while in motion.
3 or 4 seconds.....like the second coming...lol !!! Nah it's OK it takes time
To shoot this fast takes economy of motion and having a martial arts background makes this much easier
Trust me it's extremely doable...that and faster...stick with it and never give up you will get there and we're always here to help.

@@jareth7456 thanks Barton. I wish, but it feels so slow and people being double my speed is both encouraging and discouraging at once.
Practicing like that (nocking an arrow, reaching full draw and then moving your right hand forward with an arrow still nocked) may lead you to developing a bad habit of collapsing release. May not be that noticeable if you shoot only at close range (less than 15 m) but definitely will affect your accuracy on longer distances. So better do the same, but with actually shooting arrows.
He does a great job of releasing with an awesome follow through. It’s hard to see because he’s quick.
Thanks for advice. I have a little son and I rather ruin my archery than harm any living being in my surounding. Fortunetely, spring is here so I will shoot much often outside :)
LoL no collapsing release here I use more of the snatched release similar to Mihai...yes this is Barton and I was only inside because it's very cold in the rocky mountains at present and it was night time....I do shoot at night when I cannot see the target but not in winter.
Moving the bow hand forward is integral to this type of archery we double draw dividing the bows weight between two hands plus it divides the time it takes to draw

@@jareth7456 I was talking about right hand (draw hand), not the bow hand. I mean the way of practice shown in this video when Charlie is reachig full draw, and then folds it and nocks the arrow off and drops it. I'm just afraid that after hundreds of repeats it can become a part of muscular memory and affect release clarity.
P.s. just realised you are the Barton from the video, who advised Charlie and you shoot left-haded with your bow in the right hand) So yes, sorry, I should have better say "draw hand" rather than "right hand" in the first comment) No qwestions for your technic, friend, I liked that very mich an will try your method of nocking even though I don't practice fast shooting.
When it comes to speed shooting, do you recommend a maximum draw weight? I currently target shoot with a thumb draw at 40-50lb draw weight.. For speed shooting, should I go down in weight for faster draw, or does it not matter?
It matters lots! Speed shooting at 35 is (for me) sustainable and still strong enough

I use 55 lb (and want to go up to 80 lb) so need to use gloves. I also want to be ambidextrous, so both hands need the same glove design. I don't think anyone has come up with a good speed shooting technique with gloves for sustainable shooting?

Gloves are always a pain I think. Find the perfect match is hard.
If you or anyone is interested, shooting with any type of finger or thumb guard is not a problem at all..guards were a nessesity in ancient warfare for example due to the strength of bows often in excess of 120lbs . Check out mihai cozmei. He's one of the fastest "military style" shooters out there. He does this weird movement with the bow to catch the arrow, almost like dancing 😅

Please, could you explain how do you do to have the slot (nock ?) In the good orientation to have the feathers in the good position, because a rotation of 180° changes completely the place of the feathers on the bow ?
I don’t care about the feather position :) that’s the trick 😵💫
The position of the cock feather makes no difference in arrow flight or accuracy....many many tests have proven this ...I simply set my nocks so that the cock feather is either up or down
Try nockless arrow you will be faster.. Use same tecnique and concentrate not to hold arrow to hatd but to release when you feel presion of rope..

What arrows do you use?
I use two types of arrows. First is Alibow carbon arrows and second is Pantalong Black Traditional by BearPaw... or sometimes Skylon Frontier.

No, it is Alibow Turkish fibreglas. Tatar is B shaped bow, Turkish is D shaped bow.
