- Amazon Author Central got a refresh at the end of 2020 and if you're like many authors publishing on Amazon, it's time you took look. In this video, author and founder of Book Launchers, Julie Broad, shares her Amazon Author Central tips for using this tool to sell more books. I recommend playing this excellent video at .75 speed. Just go to the HD gear and you can slow it down. I wanted to take notes to make the most of it.
Thanks for the reminder to update my author central. It's been 5 months, and it's a great idea. One idea for a new video is how to get access to Amazon help for a variety of things. This past week, I found 3 pirated copies of my book. The thieves changed the cover, author name, slightly changed the subtitle, but it's my book description, and look inside was my copyrighted materials. I have had Amazon successfully remove one, but 2 are still there and in process. You have to find how to get to the infringement area to submit your ownership. Last night I found the print versions on Walmart, which is good, but one of the 3 pirated books is alongside mine for a much lower price. Maybe select a few ways to use Amazon help. Just a thought. Keep up the great videos! Love them.
Oh man!! Jaqueline, our Production Manager spent 6 hours escalating a problem up three levels of Amazon last week and we don't feel any wiser. I'll discuss this with the team to see if there is some concrete advice we can give. I sure wish Amazon was easier. Thanks for the idea!!

I love the new look for Author Central. Here's a question, not on self-publishing, but it is in your wheelhouse. What do you think of crowd-sourced real estate investing? I'm looking at Groundfloor because they let normal people invest. They finance house flippers. I'm thinking it's a good way for me to invest in real estate without being in the US and being able to see the property. Short term investments, like six months to a year.
New video ideas are hard, you've done so many it's hard to think of what you haven't covered. I'm drawing a blank.
Ooooh I have lots of new ideas after the last Deep Dive training and some comments on my book ... Nielsen Book Scan, The Craft of Writing, Launch Strategies and more. :) I don't know if I will ever run out of content.
As for crowd sourcing your real estate - I have very limited experience with this but it would come down to the person overseeing the investments, their approach, and integrity for me. There are very few people I've met in real estate that I would give my money to ...

Excellent video. I have been fairly good about updating my new books to my author central account as I really like using the sales rank to see if a book has sold. But I must admit that I am not so good about updating the rest of the info. Looks like I have some work ahead of me. Good thing I will have the helpful video to refer to. Have a great weekend.

We use Book Sirens but there are other services that will work.

A question for you. I have an ebook on another site, if I can take it off that site and leave my book exclusively with Amazon, will I be able to then load up Editorial reviews on my Author Central Account for that book? I’m currently redoing the cover and getting it ready for KDP Paperback.

Hi! You should be able to upload editorial reviews onto your Author Central Account regardless of whether you're exclusive. I'm not exclusive with Amazon on any of my books and have editorial reviews on them all.

i just received your book today! Yahoo! I really thought Amazon would have the book delivered according to its previous email to me. I'm glad they did not. Already started reading the first page! I also wanted to thank you for the offer of a PDF format btw. I am glad it wasn't necessary. Stay safe!

I contacted Author Central and we can now have up to 7 Aliases in our Author Central accounts.. YAY.. I asked them this just the other day (Feb 25, 2021)
If you can't see how to do this.. you are just supposed to contact their support.. I haven't added more than 3 yet to any of my accounts yet.. but I asked the support person TWICE just to make sure he was clear about my question.

Is there a way to customize the author central URL? I know it used to be in the profile tab, but I do not see it there.
Not anymore! That feature is gone. I've looked and looked and they even removed the reference to that in their help documentation.

Plzzzzzzz make a video on how to publish a book on amazon step by step 2021. I beg you I have written my book but I need a step by step. Plzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Have you looked at Kelli Publishing or Self Publishing with Dale? They cover more of that how to kind of detail on upload. I've honestly not done it since 2016 so I am not current. People on my team do it everyday but it's not something I have enough expertise in to offer.
Thanks for the great video. It was very helpful. Is there a way to interpret the ebook sales rankings like the paperback rankings? in other words, can an author check how many ebook copies were sold on the different Amazon sites? A jump in the rankings isn't exactly telling an author a whole lot because they don't know exactly how many copies were sold. I know you can always ask the publisher but if there was a way for an author to verify it themselves it would be handy.
There's a bit of data inside of the Amazon site showing you where sales come from but it's not granular enough to tell you what marketing efforts you're doing are generating results. If you're able to log into your KDP Dashboard or even your Amazon Author Central site you'll see the sales per marketplace and per format.
Are you not getting that data? If you worked with a publisher and can't access the site to see the data I'm not sure what to tell you there. Rankings are a very ambiguous way to guess sales because they are relative to other sales that day.

I do not know. We use Ingram Spark for paperback presale and then on launch day load to KDP Print.

If I upload my print books through IngramSpark, will I still have access to Amazon Author Central? I’m probably going to upload the ebook version to KDP, but I’m assuming I can link the paperback and hardcover, right?
That's a great question. We always have e-books on KDP so I don't know for certain but I would think the answer is yes as major publishers do have this for their authors and they aren't using KDP.

I want to create one for my Author page but I am not exactly sure how to do it or how it should even look in regards to my author page or other social media platforms I'm on. It appears I come up with the name but what I choose the name in reference too? Thank you for your time!

Hi. Well I guess because all my 5 books are only LCB then I won’t be able to have an Author Central (AC) Account? I signed in at the AC website but it just directs me to a page that says I should look for an email from Amazon before I can set up my AC account. I haven’t gotten an email and I requested it to be resent several times. What do you think could be the issue?
Hmmm you should still be able to create an Author Central account but I'm not a pro at this particular situation. Have you tried contacting Amazon help?
I used Amazon and I see my book AND they say noone has bought it .which I am finding this book in all kinds of places..new and used. So that would mean it was purchased and which also means Amazon never reported to me. ?? I have seizures and epilepsy and 6 more books to go with the first one... However I do know that I need help now to proceed further. I have everything written..did that in 40 days and 40 nights. And I am assuming they will say again..no sales..dont understand..???
That is very strange. I can't really help but if it's on the used market that seems to mean it was purchased.
