Where is Jerry?
He’s the most important player art of this.
Sure. RIP Amy Winehouse.
However, you’re dwarfed by the genius, humility, and world-changing love of Mr. Dammers. A true angel on earth.

that's the first time I've seen this Amy was fucking amazing someone should have saved her God bless
This is what ska is about, singing about struggle and love and unity ❤️ bless up Jerry Dammers and Amy Winehouse
man, if you listen to the original single and then you listen to this immediately afterwards, it's absolutely wild how much the mood of the song has changed. in the original, stan campbell is literally _begging_ them to free nelson mandela. it's a song with a jubilant sound, but the message is sad, and stan's tone is extremely... i don't want to say "serious" but when he says "i'm begging you," you can FEEL that he's actually BEGGING. even the chorus/refrain or whatever has a more somber tone to it. it's a plea! i'm glad it worked!
but then this one? after nelson mandela's been free 18 years and was president and has been able to somewhat set south africa down a decent path? oh my _god._ it's a _party!_ i saw another version that jerry dammer did in april of 1990, right after nelson mandela was freed, and he said something like "now that nelson mandela is free, i guess this song is historical" and you can _feel_ it, everyone is absolutely buoyant. no one gives a shit that amy is whacked out on goofballs and interrupted the sax solo, or that a brian may solo in a ska song makes zero sense, they're just there having a great time! idk it actually made me happy cry, pretty hard. what an incredible song.
AMY, SADLY MISSED AND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN ,..SO THANK YOU AMY FOR SINGING THIS SONG ❤️☮️☯️
Rip my old class at school Nelson Mandela
I love this version! I miss her so much... I loved her right from the very first time I heard her singing "Stronger Than Me" with her unique voice and excellent jazzy guitar playing on British Television back in 2003... I loved everything she released from then onwards, right up to the posthumous album "Lioness: Hidden Treasures", which contains my favourite version of all time of the classic Shirelles number "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". You should all check it out if you haven't heard it, you won't be disappointed... But, getting back to the video here in question, I LOVE it! The energetic performance, and of course the boldness that only Amy could have gotten away with as she chants "Freeeeee Blakey my fella" (4:31) at a tribute concert to Nelson Mandela... Excellent stuff! So cheeky and typical of Amy! Respect to all you Amy fans out there, from Davey, a musician from Éire (Ireland).
I wish us musicians could all meet up at Dingle and pay her a tribute.
im a musician too. peace

Shes steamin
She was so great❤️
Imagine how it could have been 😭😭 RIP Amy
miss the man

It's a pity Queen didn't support Nelson Mandela when they had the chance in the 80's. Instead they were happy to play at Sun City and lend their support to the apartheid regime in South Africa.
So true. How quickly we forget. Shame on you, Queen.
Well BRian may was up for soaking in the glory after Mandela was established, but not for supporting him beforehand. @Zdiddy7
@Zdiddy7 I think a lot of people find that to be repulsive behaviour.
You know what apartheid was, yeah?
@@JoshDone Black Sabbath played Sun City as well (without Ozzy).
Lol am I the only one who saw the message from Kim Kardashian wishing Mandela a happy birthday on the screens that are on the side? 😂
𝕀 𝕝𝕠𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 Amy , Brian and roger in the same song 𝕩𝕩
I guess it was conveniently forgotten that Queen played Sun City in 1984...
Queen are cunts.
😭🤝
Free. Nelson Mandela song
Ironic to see queen,as they played in sun city, while the great man languished in prison, hypocrisy I am
My thoughts exactly.
Free Blake my fella. So Amy...

The state of Army Warehouse !! The drugs had taken their toll by now !! She sounds like she's had a lot of drugs and booze before she came on stage !!
Ääääää
This is bloody awful, quite insulting to the original.

When?
Not considering she had emphysema one week earlier
She wrecked everything ,,I really don’t know why so many people fall over themselves about her
HIV positive? I wouldn't be holding hands with her, dude.
you idiot
All while the great man was rotting in misery in a fascist cell. Pity you won't all go and risk your comfortable lives for others.... That would solve the worlds problems in one stroke. Free Palestine...... Free Palestine.. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸❤️
❤❤❤
He was at Hyde Park that night for his 90th birthday, not in a cell.
